Chapter 12:

Is My School Life Going to Have Legendary Difficulty?

I Promised to Save Them in the Chat, But Now My Virtual Ex-Girlfriends Are Living in My Living Room!

"No one turns their back on the great Mika Tamaki and lives to tell about it!" That was the last thing Sora heard before that voice disappeared down the hallway.

Sora's only concern was reaching the office, and with each step he took closer, he could feel the chaos growing stronger and stronger.

"I already told you, the equipment is for the exclusive use of the institution!" A shout was heard from the other side of the hallway.

Sora threw open the student council office door in one motion, almost losing his balance. The scene he found was worthy of a permanent ban waiting room.

Airi was standing, hands on the desk, her face so red with anger that her system seemed about to overheat. In front of her, Mochi held her wooden spoon like a sacred staff, maintaining a smile that only further enraged the delegate.

"I'm telling you, Yamamoto is not your property!" Airi shouted while pointing at the speakers. "You just ruined his reputation and the seriousness of this council!"

"As the administrator of his life, it's my duty to ensure his health statistics don't drop," Mochi responded while waving her spoon ferociously. "A tank without his lunch is just an easy target."

Sora felt a chill.

"Enough, both of you!" Sora shouted, stepping into the line of fire. "Airi, I'm really sorry, I'll make it up to you. AND YOU, Mochi, put down that spoon! We're at school!"

However, a noise under the table caught everyone's attention. It was Shiori, sitting on the floor beneath the table at the center of the war zone, connected directly to the school's main server with a cable that definitely shouldn't be there.

"Tank, the school's system is a complete joke," Shiori said without taking her eyes off her laptop. "I was trying to delete the record of the perverted Cleric's announcement to clean your history, but I found something abnormal in the server... Maybe if I move this data..."

"Shiori, don't touch that!" Sora shouted, lunging toward her with a desperation similar to a player trying to reach a save point before a blackout. However, in his haste, he didn't notice the mess of cables Shiori had spread across the floor.

Sora's feet got tangled in the cables that Shiori herself had set up to connect to the server. Because of that, Sora lost his balance.

"Watch out!" he managed to shout, but his fate was already sealed.

Sora went flying forward, and Airi, who was still in the middle of her battle against Mochi, didn't have time to dodge. The impact was inevitable, but as if the situation were pulled straight from a romantic comedy, Sora ended up landing face-first against the delegate, burying his face directly into Airi's chest.

Time seemed to stop in that place. Airi let out what seemed to be a small, inaudible whimper, and then her face began to turn an intense shade of red from embarrassment. Sora could feel Airi's warmth against his face, but what really froze his blood was the change in atmospheric pressure behind him.

"Sora..." Mochi's voice dropped dramatically, but it began to sound like the whisper of a final boss before a ultimate attack. "Did you just perform a contact skill with the delegate and not with me!? That... that requires immediate purification."

Mochi raised her wooden spoon forcefully. Her eyes lost all trace of light, transforming into two empty pits of pure murderous intent. The yandere aura emanating from her was so dense that Sora swore he saw the shadows in the office come to life.

"Forgive me, it was a collision error!" Sora shouted while trying to detach himself from Airi, who was still in mental short-circuit.

As Mochi prepared to execute what seemed to be a divine punishment combo, murmurs from under the table made themselves known.

Beneath the table, oblivious to the chaos threatening to split the office in two, Shiori blinked at her screen. Her fingers moved with speed while the thundering sound of Sora's impact against Airi resonated above her head.

"Access granted... What a pathetic security level," Shiori whispered to herself, then proceeded to adjust her glasses. "Let's see what the institute's server is hiding..."

After reading only a few irrelevant documents, her eyes widened slightly behind her glasses upon finding an encrypted file with a digital seal that didn't belong to the school. The document's name was: "Limit Frontier Online."

The document seemed tempting to Shiori, so she decided to bypass the password and start reading it.

Shiori read the first lines. Then the paragraph. Finally, the entire document.

"Interesting..." A small, almost imperceptible smile formed on her sea otter face. She saved the file to a USB before anyone noticed the intrusion.

BAM!

The student council office door, which had already suffered what appeared to be cuts from... a spoon, opened again, but this time with an elegance and authority that cut through Mochi's yandere aura like butter.

"Could someone explain to me why the school's audio system broadcast an announcement about so-called lunch buffs and why I hear purification screams from the hallway!?"

Sora, who was about to be impaled by Mochi's spoon, turned his head with his neck cracking from terror. At the entrance stood Ms. Sato, the history teacher and club supervisor. She was wearing a white shirt with a V-neck and a skirt that fell below the knee, with a gray jacket draped over her shoulders like a cape. Her long brown hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, with a strand of bangs falling to the left, held in place by a small hairpin that softened her appearance. Dark sunglasses hid her gaze, but her mere presence exuded an aura of absolute authority.

"M-Ms. Sato!" Airi exclaimed, recovering her speech and composure. "I can explain! There was a... a user permission error with the radio equipment and..."

Ms. Sato didn't move. She simply crossed her arms, leaning her back against the doorframe with a nonchalance that radiated invisible pressure. She didn't shout; she judged.

She adjusted her glasses, and the reflection in the lenses cut through the air like a passive intimidation skill.

"Airi," Sato said in a voice so cold that Sora swore the fan on Shiori's laptop started forming frost. "As student council president, your mission is to maintain order in the serv—... I mean, the institution. Seeing this level of degradation in the office is... disappointing." Sato declared while throwing a furious glare at Airi.

Airi lowered her head, but Sora noticed something strange. Instead of looking scared, the delegate let out a small sigh, and her shoulders trembled slightly with a strange mix of submission and... pleasure?

"I-I'm very sorry, Ms. Sato!" Airi responded with a suspiciously enthusiastic voice. "My incompetence knows no limits! Please, assign me extra tasks or... or give me a harsher punishment if you deem it necessary!"

Both Sora and the rest of the girls observed Airi's behavior change so drastically, and yet all three had the same thought: "Is she a masochist?"

Ms. Sato sighed, closing her eyes with annoyance.

"I don't have time for your dramas, Airi. As for you three," Sato pointed at Sora, Mochi, and a Shiori who was trying to sneak away. "You three, outside! If I hear another unofficial announcement or see anyone under that table, I swear your History grades will drop very low!"

Sora didn't need to be told twice. He grabbed the otter by her clothes and the kitten Mochi by the arm, dragging them out of the office as if fleeing from a secret-level Boss that kills you with a single glance.

"Y-yes, ma'am! We're going!" Sora shouted as he rushed out.

Just before the door closed completely, and as the hallway chaos began to drown out the sounds from the office, Sora managed to hear a whisper coming from inside.

It was Ms. Sato's voice, but it no longer sounded authoritative; it was the voice of someone who has seen virtual empires fall.

"Young people nowadays are such a problem... they don't know when to retreat from the battlefield."

Sora felt as if a door in his mind had opened. "That phrase... I've heard it before..." Sora thought while still dragging his two waifus away from danger.
