Will. (Prologue)

Sense the dawn of time, humanity carried a hidden potential: the ability to project their inner will onto the world as outpours. Yet for centuries. Nobody awakened it.

70 years ago, a figure known only in myth as the Silent Conductor discovered how to tune this latent potential. Through secret experiments, they created a network of resonant, nodes objects, places, and people that could amplify human will to extraordinary levels. Their goal was both noble and dangerous, awaken the true capacity within humanity… and see what would happen.

Then, in one pivotal generation, something shifted. A convergence of human consciousness. 

mass anxiety, dreams, ambition, despair, and more interacted with the Conductor’s residual network, finally triggering the awakening. Outpours manifested across the world. Giving power to most if not all.

True Resonances, the rarest expressions of this force, appeared in those whose emotions reached the peak or their lowest, causing their internal world and external world to become one. As their outpour rapidly rise with the corresponding primal emotion. This power is not learned, it is instinctive. Anyone with high enough outpour and will power could have a true resonance.

But not every awakening went well. Some pulses ran wild, consuming the host. These became Dissonants, echoes of potential misaligned. Most are wild beast amplified by the constant outpour flowing through there body, meaning most could never achieve true resonance. They are wild beast, and so they have no will. Yet in some special cases, Dissonants can inherit will from their past, human lives.

And very rarely, someone is born arhythmic, without a pulse at all. an unclaimed potential, waiting for the perfect moment to awaken a resonance unlike any the world has seen.
