The Beginning

"15 Years Ago"

In a high school classroom filled with students’ chatter, sunlight streamed through the windows.

“Are you alright with that, Yusaka?”

“With what, Ryosuke?” Yusaka replied.

“Are you sure you don't want to confess to Suzumi-san?”

"Of course I'm not alright with that, you idiot," Yusaka murmured.

"Don't call me an idiot! You're the idiot here!"

"You two have been friends for three years. Even I can tell that you like each other."

"Hurry up and confess your love to Suzumi-san!"

“Stop it!” he muttered.

“I'm going to grab lunch from the cafeteria. Do you want anything?”

"Then get me a spicy bun."

"Okay! I'll be right back in a few minutes," Yusaka said.

Yusaka stood and walked toward the back door.

"Rin Suzumi!" she called from the front of the room.

"Yusaka-kun… are you going to grab lunch?" Rin Suzumi asked him, standing near the whiteboard, her cheeks slightly flushing as she waved.

"Yes…” he replied, his cheeks slightly reddened.

"I see…" she smiled as she crossed her arms behind her back.

He began to leave the classroom, Rin hurried to follow him, and her coat dropped from her waist.

But they never expected that this was the last ordinary day in their lives.

Yusaka yawned as he raised his hand near his mouth, his eyes closed.

As Yusaka took a step outside the classroom, he opened his eyes and froze.

Huh?

The impossible happened. A portal suddenly appeared before him. He glanced inside—distorted universes seemed to be linked together.

Rin followed behind him.

The portal swallowed Yusaka whole, pulling Rin in with him.

With that one incident, their lives changed completely.

They were summoned into a vast hall, surrounded by countless people. Before them sat a king, guarded by his knights. All around them, the crowd stared.
