40 Days of Despair


Oorasan, 2XXX.
As the day usually start, road are busy, the wind are breezy. The sound of engine running from left to right, the sky is filled with pictures and text running across a bunch of screen, just another Tuesday. Today is a little bit unusual, heatwave strike across the street, the sun is scorching hot boiling the air around the town, and it haven't rain for a month.

At that time, he spawned out of nowhere among us all. No one notices his presence.

A pedestrian who just bough a bag of vegetables was using his phone while walking on side of the road, accidentally bump into something that shouldn't be there at the first place.
"Hey! watch where you going, you piece of-" before the man finish speaking, he startled as he slowly tilted up while gaped in surprise, watching a massive figure standing before him.

The pedestrian voice alerted everyone, now one by one people started looking at their location. A man with unusually huge, about 3 meters tall and exceptionally weird body proportions. His body is lumpy in one part, and too narrow in others, red skin like he just got sunburn. Like an animal trying to be human but doesn't know what they doing. He was wearing a old cloak as big as his body, his hood hanging low on his head covering most of his face. 

Not long after, he lift the hood slowly, revealing his entire head. The pedestrian's eyes widen and his phone fell from his hand, shocked by the scenery he just saw. 

Thick curly hair touching his shoulder, eyes bloated like grapes, and smile so wide sending chill to to everyone's spine. He also releasing a bad odor form his body, making the situation very uncomfortable.

As everyone get caught by the presences of him, he raised his hands wide, and speak with the most gentle voice mankind ever speak.
"Gather, and hear my call. As i am, your true and only god, has descend onto this earth to bring peace upon humanity."

No one react, everyone just too stunned to react. Some filled with confusion and some annoyed by his presences.
"Where is this big dude come from?"
"Is this some part of skit? Maybe some kind of performance?"
Question fill the air round them, but none of them were really listening to what the man said.
"Hey big guy! Can't you see you holding the line?! What circus are you from?" The pedestrian shout at him angrily.

The strange man's hands slowly move higher, reaching the sky. At the highest point, his grip tighten grabbing the air, but from everyone perspective, his big hands trying to reach the sun.

In one minute- PSSSHHH!

The same pedestrian fell on his knee, howl in pain. Everyone can see the steam coming out from his body, his skin red and blistered. The vegetables his bought rapidly dried out, and not long turn to dust. People gasped and frowned as everything happened so fast, No one get a chance to react. Every plant dried out, river and lake evaporated, flying birds fell, and every animals burnt to ash.

"IT BURNS!! HELP!! PLEASE HELP!!! IT HURT!! IT HUUURT!!" The pedestrian scream in pain.
The strange man looked down with smile on his face, he approached the pedestrian who already losing his mind to it's pain. Again, with a calm and gentle voice, he speak to everyone.
"Indeed, I have commanded the sun to stay still. A solid prove of my godhood. And with my command, I could give each of you protection from the heat, and heal every wound physically and emotionally."
Everyone who watching are now drenched in sweat, shaken, scared, confused, overwhelmed, stressed.
"Sing my name in your prayer, call upon Hamelin in your song. Worship me, and blessing shall bestow upon your hands." Hamelin's hands open wide, accepting everyone to his side.
"IM SORRY!! P- P- P- PLEASE FORGIVE ME!! I- I DIDN'T KNOW! MY LOOOOORD!!!" The man screamed in plea.

Hamelin's smile widen, his finger flick toward the dying man. Slowly, his skin healed and the screaming gone. Everyone watches as the man look refreshed, while their throat feel burned from inside. Panic caught them by surprise, a hive of desperate human come running toward Hamelin begging for mercy. As they run, they screamed in harmonize.
"MY LORD!!"

The sun has frozen in place.
And with that, humanity forced to seek help from the one who started this nightmare.
