Chapter 9:
The Flower That Made Me Remember You
They didn’t answer her question, quickly changing the subject. “Your reason to be with them is love; it's wrong; their obsession.” Said the doctors and scientists. Alice countered, “It’s love, even if it is not pure; it doesn't have to be, as love can be anything, from gentle to painful. Obsession can be the only thing you need, as they wouldn’t leave you alone and give you anything.” The doctor had run the test for their gain, seeking achievement and affirmation.
They had discovered they could create more of them, even if it meant creating a disease. Now, the doctors and scientists planned to get rid of them because they had grown too powerful to control. Alice, Ray, and Aki could stop them, but there was always more to fight.
Ray went to find Alice and discovered she’s hurt again, and this time more seriously. Her hair and clothes were a mess.
Yet, Alice saw Ray and smiled at him as if nothing were wrong. Seeing her in such a state gave Ray a strange feeling he liked. Ray covered his face through the gaps between his fingers. His eyes were blank darkness as he bent his head down. Ray believed he was the only one who could see her like that. Suddenly, one day, the doctors and scientists pushed Alice from a great height. Alice saw the blinding sun in the sky.
She felt the warmth of the actual sun and the wind blowing on her skin, a sensation that made Alice remember wishing to know what the outside world felt like. That was why the room had drawings of flowers on the wall that moved like falling petals, with fish swimming. There was a new wish that Alice wanted more than anything, like a wish itself, making that wish no more. Alice saw Ray and Aki falling, reaching out to catch her. Alice laughed, exclaiming, “How romantic!” As they held her, Alice kissed both of them.
Seeing that, they stopped their fall by combining their cures. Alice's blood made their wish move closer to being granted. Aki's appearance shifted slightly, making them seem more masculine. Alice said, while being surprised, “I didn’t know you were a man, but you’re still the same, cute.” They still had their tea party filled with things Alice loved.
