Chapter 7:
even more side stories of the bloodbriar family
A rainy afternoon found Diana curled on a velvet armchair, cigarette in one hand, manga and visual novels stacked beside her. The twins sketched quietly at her feet. Malcolm lounged nearby, a sketchpad in hand, while Analise observed from the sofa.
Beckett leaned against the doorway, mask lifted, silently watching the cozy scene. Diana took a slow puff, then laughed softly at a particularly ridiculous panel in one of her visual novels.
The twins whispered to each other, sketching every gesture, every smile, the subtle playful intimacy between Diana and Beckett.
“Even when she’s reading and smoking, she’s… intense,” Hades whispered.
Malcolm smirked. “Yeah, but also… totally human. And somehow perfect at the same time.”
Diana glanced at Beckett, a teasing smirk on her lips. Their fingers brushed briefly over the arm of the chair, and he responded with the faintest squeeze, a small, quiet acknowledgment of connection.
The chapter closed with the rain pattering against the windows, the smoke curling upward, and the family quietly observing the perfect rhythm of their lives.
