Chapter 4:
another fine day for the bloodbriars
The server was private.
Invite-only. Family-only.
No outsiders. No noise. No chaos.
Just a steady, quiet rhythm of presence.
Typing indicators flickered occasionally. Messages appeared slowly, deliberately. No one spoke just to fill silence—only when something was worth saying.
It was peaceful.
Lunch Break: The First Disturbance
Diana stepped outside the school building, the midday air cool against her skin. Her cigarette burned slowly between her fingers as she leaned against the wall, eyes half-lidded in thought.
A rare pause in her day.
She opened Discord.
The family server sat at the top.
Unread messages: 3
She exhaled softly… and posted she took from this morning.
A photo.
The Photo
It was simple.
Diana seated, coat draped neatly. Beckett beside her—unmasked, gloveless.
Her arm looped lightly around his shoulder.
His hand resting near her wrist, fingers brushing just slightly—deliberate, familiar.
He leaned in just enough to press a soft kiss against her cheek.
Her caption:
“Lunch.”
Silence… Then Reaction
For exactly eight seconds, the server said nothing.
Then—
Claire:
…
Faye:
EXCUSE ME?
Tina:
Is that—
Lisa:
That’s him.
The Realization
The older cousins zoomed in—mentally and emotionally.
Faye, the model and comic artist, typed first:
“He’s actually… ridiculously good-looking.”
Claire followed immediately:
“You’ve been hiding this.”
Tina added:
“The structure. The symmetry. This is unfair.”
Lisa, ever composed, simply wrote:
“You chose well.”
Meanwhile… The Men
Rob, Bob, Tom, and Ryan—mid-discussion about a JRPG—paused.
Tom:
Is that Beckett?
Ryan:
Why does he look like a final boss and a romance option at the same time?
Bob:
That’s not normal.
Rob:
It explains everything.
The Elders Arrive
Aunt Madeline finally chimed in:
“Oh my.”
Uncle Cyril followed:
“He takes after the family well.”
A pause.
“Perhaps too well.”
Back to Diana
Diana glanced at the messages, taking another slow drag before responding.
“Oh i know lol.”
A beat.
Then she added:
“He’s always looked like this.”
Beckett Appears
Typing indicator.
Gone.
Typing again.
Then—
Beckett:
“You’re encouraging them.”
Diana smirked faintly at her screen.
“They’ll survive.”
The Dynamic Slips Through
Faye, ever perceptive, typed:
“What do you call each other again?”
A pause.
Diana replied without hesitation:
“He’s my tall, dark, handsome prince.”
Another pause.
“And I’m his mistress.”
The Server Reaction
Silence.
Then—
Ryan:
That explains the energy.
Claire:
That explains everything.
Tina:
I feel like I understand your entire relationship now.
Lisa:
Disturbingly borderline on bdsm stuff. But consistent.
A Softer Moment
Another photo appeared also from this morning.
This one closer.
Diana’s hand lightly under Beckett’s chin, tilting his face just slightly toward her.
His expression calm—trusting.
Completely at ease.
Caption:
“He behaves.”
Immediate Fallout
Bob:
I regret having eyes.
Tom:
This is somehow wholesome and threatening.
Rob:
I don’t know how to process this.
The Quiet Truth
Aunt Madeline responded again:
“You two look happy.”
No jokes. No commentary.
Just that.
Diana stared at the message for a moment longer than the others.
Then replied:
“We are.”
Early Leave
The cigarette burned out.
Diana checked the time.
Nothing left to do. No work pending.
She typed one last message:
“Heading home early.”
Beckett responded instantly:
“I’ll be there.”
Final Exchange
As Diana walked, phone still in hand, one last message appeared from Beckett:
“Take your time.”
A pause.
Then:
“I’ll be waiting, mistress.”
Diana’s lips curved—just slightly.
Her reply came without hesitation:
“Of course, my prince.”
Server Closing Mood
The chat slowed again.
Back to calm.
Back to quiet.
Faye posted one final message:
“They’re actually perfect for each other.”
Lisa replied:
“That’s what makes it unsettling but in a way pretty adorable and hey if they wanna be kinky then by all means sure let them they’re both happy so good for them.”
Claire added:
“And impressive.”
Ending
By the time Diana arrived home, the server had gone still again.
Peaceful.
Undisturbed.
Just as it always was.
A private world where:
affection was subtle
darkness was endearing
and love—no matter how intense—was simply understood
