Hizashi No Kage
Chapter - 21
As Akash was being taken to the cell, he saw how terribly small children were locked up in the cells. His face darkened. He also overheard a soldier saying, “Looks like the sacrifice will have to be offered today itself.”
Akash was trapped inside that stone wall. Every moment he felt that if he didn’t do something quickly, something truly terrible would happen.
But what could he even do? He was alone and on the other side… No! He couldn’t think about that right now. He had to do something.
He tried his best to move and free his body embedded in the wall, but all efforts failed. Just then, Neelu slipped in through the bars. Akash saw a ray of hope.
At this moment, all the demons and the humans helping them were busy preparing for the children’s sacrifice. That’s why no one was around Akash’s cell.
Akash explained the method to Neelu,
“Look, Neelu, right where my right hand is — try making a hole in the stone there. Use your acid gun with full power!! Come on, come on, good job!”
Neelu’s level-64 acid wasn’t powerful enough to break the level-95 Gilstone’s spell on its own. But Akash poured all his energy from inside, while Neelu kept throwing acid from outside. After about 10 minutes of hard effort, a crack appeared in the stone wall — right near Akash’s right hand.
Then Akash immediately activated Light Shield Dome inside that small crack and kept expanding it. Finally, he managed to free himself this way.
As per Gilstone’s instructions, all the children had already been taken to a large room. Except for Gilstone, no one else was allowed inside that room. The sacrifice ritual was supposed to continue for about an hour. During this time, everyone else had to guard the room because it was possible someone might sense the energy being released during the ritual and come to stop it.
Ajeez, the other humans, and around 100 demons were all currently guarding the room.
Then one of the guards disappeared… then another… and another…
Those who went to search for them never returned either.
This was all Akash’s doing. He was wearing a soldier’s armor and helmet. He would first call other soldiers closer, then finish them off in a single strike — and Neelu would eat the bodies.
Once, a group of demons spotted him doing this. He immediately had Neelu launch an Acid Burst attack. Continuing like this, he managed to kill more than half of the guards.
Now Ajeez had no choice but to get up from the door. He came with a large platoon to see what was happening.
Just then, a massive object crashed down from above onto the entire platoon — Neelu’s Guant Slime Crush!
Half the soldiers died instantly.
Then Akash stepped forward, holding an axe and shield he had stolen. Ajeez’s blood boiled.
“Should have just killed you back then, boy! *******” Ajeez hurled a huge curse.
Akash used Dazzling skill to blind everyone. He wanted to strike Ajeez first, but Ajeez pulled another soldier in front of him as a shield.
The effect of Dazzling faded.
Now it was Akash and Neelu on one side, and Ajeez, four humans, and seven demons on the other. Akash was still in greater danger, and his opponents now felt it wasn’t wise to attack him recklessly without preparation.
Half an hour had already passed. Only half an hour remained until the ritual ended.
When Acid Burst and Dazzling skills were used again, this time the enemies raised huge stone walls. (Earth magic!)
Akash was left with no option except close combat.
He channeled light magic into his arms and legs and tried to activate Stage One of Light Speed skill. He couldn’t fully reach Stage One speed, but he still became noticeably faster than everyone else.
He advanced cautiously, step by step. Whoever came in front was cut down in a single blow. If Akash fell, Neelu would support from behind with his tentacle-like arms.
When Akash started overpowering them, the enemies switched to long-range attacks. Akash had to activate Light Shield Dome, but he didn’t stop.
In the end, only Ajeez remained between him and the door. Both advanced. Now Akash’s speed didn’t help much because Ajeez was even faster. Ajeez with his Sword of Wind and Akash with his Axe of Light clashed fiercely — but slowly Ajeez began to dominate.
Ajeez was level 86. Though he never became a proper knight, he had completed knight training from a good academy.
A heavy blow landed on Akash, causing his axe to fly out of his hand. The next strike was about to finish him — when Neelu grabbed Ajeez’s hand from behind with his tentacle hand.
“Filthy slime! Shouldn’t have let you live either!” Ajeez shouted, turning back.
But in that instant, Akash grabbed Ajeez’s head with both hands, leaped with full force, and delivered a devastating knee strike to his face — knocking him flat.
Akash didn’t like killing Ajeez while he was unconscious, but he steeled himself and drove Ajeez’s own sword through his chest. Neelu finished the rest.
Still 20 minutes left until the ritual completed.
Akash smashed through the door and entered the room.
For a moment Gilstone couldn’t understand what was happening, but seeing the scene outside, he had to admit he had made a huge mistake by leaving Akash alive.
Akash saw a large statue placed in the center of the room — of a female demon. All the children were laid in a circle around the statue. They were unconscious at this time.
A glowing magic circle shone on the floor. Gilstone stood apart to one side.
Akash remembered from academy lessons that the easiest way to stop a magic circle is to erase any part of it. He was about to strike the ground with his axe when Stone Bullets attacked him. He activated Light Shield, but the impact still pushed him back.
Akash used Dazzling skill again — Gilstone didn’t even blink.
Then Akash charged forward once more with light magic on his limbs.
“Pathetic! You haven’t even achieved Stage One yet,” Gilstone said in disappointment. He knew about Lightspeed skill too.
As Akash advanced toward Gilstone, stones suddenly coated his feet. He fell. Then a 100-kilo rock dropped from high above. Akash activated 10-layer Shield Dome and barely survived.
He realized he couldn’t defeat Gilstone. But his second plan had succeeded.
Suddenly the glowing magic circle went dark. Gilstone froze in shock. He immediately started looking around to see who had erased his circle. Then he spotted a small blue slime that had melted a portion of the floor with its acid.
“What have you done, boy?! Now I’ll have to start everything all over again!” Gilstone clutched his forehead in frustration.
