Hizashi No Kage
Chapter - 28
Second session, first class.
Max sir was presenting himself in his usual rude and curt manner. He made an important announcement that a Familiar Tournament would be held at the end of this month.
All the students were excited. Everyone was going to get a chance to show just how strong their familiar was.
But the one who was smiling the most upon hearing this news was Akash. He kept thinking happily about how everyone’s faces would look when Neelu blew their minds away.
Classes continued as usual.
In Jacob sir’s class, Akash was now performing well. His mastery over his new Unbreakable Battle Axe was improving steadily.
In Sapna ma’am’s class, he was still facing some difficulty. His brain would fry while trying to understand complex magic. However, Sapna ma’am tried her best to explain everything to him in the simplest possible language.
In Leona ma’am’s Dungeon class, he performed well.
He had now become quite powerful. His level had also reached 87 — the same as Neelu.
Neelu mostly stayed with Ramya. Akash had even told Ramya that he needed to train Neelu for the Familiar Tournament, but Ramya had clearly replied, “I will train Neelu myself.”
Akash had no choice but to accept Ramya’s decision.
Apart from this, Akash was also paying full attention in Literature class. He liked Rubina ma’am a lot, but he kept himself in check.
During lunch, he still ate alone. Although whenever Ramya and Bob were free, they would come to him or he would go to them, their lunch timings weren’t matching. Akash had now started finding peace in eating alone. Such delicious food, and that too completely free. How long could Akash keep complaining about being alone?
Akash had also started learning a new magic — Blood Ritual Magic. Sapna ma’am hadn’t explained much about it in her class. But Akash had spent a full 6 hours continuously in the library and finally found a book that taught this magic. Now, along with Lightspeed skill, he had also begun learning Blood Ritual. The thought had firmly settled in his mind that a war with demons could happen anytime, and if only the demons used Blood Ritual in that war, then humans were bound to lose.
Apart from all this, nothing special was happening.
Manjula still behaved as if she didn’t know him, but Akash no longer felt hopeless or disappointed.
Anyway, one month passed like this. The day of the Familiar Tournament finally arrived.
Akash had only been able to practice with Neelu for two days, but even in that short time, he had noticed the changes in Neelu. Neelu had become much faster than before. His Acid Gun aim had also become much more accurate. All of this was the result of training with a Mage Student...
The Familiar Tournament was held in the same kind of arena as the one in the tournament at the end of the previous session. The rules were exactly the same too. The only difference was that this time the familiars had to fight, while their masters had to give instructions from outside the arena.
Akash’s first match was against a girl named Lily. Lily used Fire-type magic and her familiar was a Fire Salamander.
The match began. Lily thought she would defeat a slime in the blink of an eye, but all her ideas turned to dust the moment Neelu entered his Giant Form.
Lily’s salamander ran for its life and jumped out of the arena. Akash won the match.
And after that, he kept winning. All the spectators were stunned, and Akash kept smiling. He was thoroughly enjoying this feeling of superiority.
No one could defeat Neelu. Akash wasn’t even using Acid Gun, yet he faced no difficulty in winning. He defeated some with Body Slam, and threw others out of the arena by picking them up with his Tentacle Hand. Continuing like this, Akash and Neelu reached the semi-finals.
But as soon as Akash found out who his next opponent was, he forfeited the match. Manjula and Zara were his next opponents.
Manjula didn’t like Akash’s decision, but she could understand why he had done it. After all, what kind of parent would deliberately make their children fight each other?
Manjula reached the finals and now she had to face Zavier.
Zara’s level was 51, but he was still quite powerful because of his Dragon Blood. On the other side, through extremely harsh training, Zavier had raised the level of his Fire Eagle, which he had named Charco, to 86.
The final match began. Zara entered the arena from the right side and Charco from the left. Manjula stood on the right side of the arena and Zavier on the left.
Charco made the first move. He flew high into the air and flapped his wings powerfully, launching a Fire Slash attack. Zara dodged all the slashes with great ease. Charco then fired 20 slashes continuously.
“Zara, fly up and then go behind him,” Manjula commanded from outside. Zara did exactly that. Charco’s attacks missed again.
Then Zavier also started giving orders. “Charco, Burning Bird!” he shouted. Charco covered himself completely in flames. Zara was about to attack him from behind, but before he could, Charco created distance again.
“Zara, just keep dodging for now,” Manjula gave the next command.
Charco kept trying to hit him with flying flame tackles. Zara managed to dodge. Since Zara was smaller, he was also much faster.
Zavier became frustrated. In anger, he shouted, “Charco, Fire Storm!”
It was a very big attack. Charco’s eyes began to glow, and then he flapped his wings rapidly, creating a wide and long fire tornado.
Manjula shouted, “Quickly go higher, Zara! Higher than the storm!”
Zara flew upward before getting caught in the fire storm. But at that moment, he was suddenly hit by a Flame Tackle.
“Ha! You can’t keep escaping by going up every time!” Zavier shouted and then ordered the next attack, “Finish him with Giant Fire Ball!”
The storm had disappeared, and after taking the tackle, Zara had fallen to the ground. He was just getting up when Charco fired a Giant Fire Ball at him from above. But at the last moment, Zara flapped his wings and pushed himself in the opposite direction, getting out of the fire ball’s range.
“Zavier, do you want to kill my dragon? Control yourself a little!” Manjula scolded him. Zavier didn’t say anything.
Manjula then asked Zara, “Son, do you want to continue fighting?” Zara said yes.
On the other side, Charco was now exhausted.
“Come on Zara, let’s beat that eagle now. Air Punches at full speed, go!” Manjula said.
Zara flew at full speed. Small whirlwinds formed around his hands.
“Fire Shield!” Zavier said.
Charco created a shield of fire in front of him. But Zara went behind him and landed two Air Punches. Charco lost his balance and the shield disappeared. Zara then showered Air Punches from all directions.
“Cover yourself with fire!” Zavier shouted.
Charco tried, but due to exhaustion, no flames came out. One more punch landed and Charco fell to the ground. He could no longer even stand on his talons, but he still refused to accept defeat.
“Are you ready, Zara?!! Show everyone your finishing move — Sonic Tackle!” Manjula shouted excitedly.
A tornado-like drill formed around Zara and he charged towards Charco from behind at full speed.
At that moment, Zavier shouted loudly, “If you lose, I won’t let you live!”
Charco immediately flipped over and landed on his back. Then he shot a powerful Fire Ball from his mouth.
The Fire Ball hit Zara directly. He tumbled several times and fell right at the edge of the arena. He hadn’t gone outside yet.
“Finish him!” Zavier shouted!!
Charco’s eyes glowed.
Suddenly, Manjula screamed, “No, stop! I give up!”
“It’s too late now,” Zavier said.
Charco took aim and launched a large Fire Ball at Zara. Zara couldn’t even move anymore. If that Fire Ball hit him, his death was certain.
But at that moment, Manjula and Akash jumped in between. Manjula cut the Fire Ball in half with her Shadow Sword. Meanwhile, Akash had created a Light Shield Dome.
All the spectators were stunned. Zavier went mad with rage.
Akash immediately started healing Zara. Otherwise, he would have fought Zavier first.
Zavier had won the match, but no one congratulated him. Even Manjula was completely furious with his behavior today. She shouted at Zavier in front of everyone, “Have you gone mad? What if he had died??!!”
“Then nothing would have happened. I would have given you another dragon's child!” Zavier said without any hesitation.
“Really? Is it that easy for you? Zara is my child. No one can replace him. Understood? If you ever say something like this again—
Zavier interrupted Manjula and said, “Then what?!”
He was angry too. The reason for his anger was simply why Akash had come to save Zara!!
Just then, many teachers and students arrived there. Zavier left the place grinding his teeth in anger. He didn’t even think about picking up Charco.
Manjula took Zara from Akash and carried him to the medical room. She was still angry, so she shouted at Akash, “Why did you come in between? How many times have I told you not to!” Saying this, she left without waiting for any reply.
Akash didn’t say anything.
Then his eyes fell on Charco, who was lying there completely exhausted. Akash healed Charco as well....
