Chapter 1:
This New World Is Strange
He walks a lonely path, to somewhere he didn't know. Yet unknown, he still finds himself walking beside the shadows of the trail. This path of gravel and dirt will soon come to an end as he reaches his unknown destination. This place covered in a thick but see-through fog. He seemed to feel like he wasn't all there, but the sensation was definitely real.
The stony steps up the mountain at the end of the path would definitely bring him pain, but he still trecked on. Unsure of where he was going. The night sky shifted closer to its center as time passed on. I can't believe that he would go through with this at midnight.
Soon light was definitely saw, as the boy arrived closer to a mountain top village. The towns people seemed to be in panic, but he was unsure why. The many people of this area were all different. Some of varying skin, ears, fur... wait fur? Yes fur these were demi humans. People who were part human and part animal, aka a humanoid.
This place seemed diverse, and many things were telling him to stay away, but all he wanted to really do was rest. The light he had seen brought smoke up and carried it by the atmosphere.
The smell of fire rose in his nose, as he realized what had happened.
"Somethings on fire over there. I should get out of here."
He was conflicted... he didn't like getting involved with others misfortune and mistakes. But a part of him wanted to go see. Which is what made it hard to move one way or the other. Each edge of his brain fought for there part in the matter.
Soon curiosity took over and toward the flames he went. Humans and demi humans running frantically about. He wondered what had happened?
As he arrived at the scene, a house and many others were set to flames. Some with people still inside. Some with people who didn't make it. Some with nothing. Someone had attacked the village.
"Well, who do we have here, another bishop of Mallory the great cult of misfortune? He has the arura of one who has been affiliated with us for a while." This person had a black cloak so he couldn't make out what he looked like.
"He looks rather weak to me, I mean look at his scrawny build." Sure he was short and scrawny. But he was not in fact weak. He had worked out for lack of anything else to do, and he also had been part of many fights in his time. This one was the taller of the two, with broad shoulders and strong arms. He was also wearing a cloak.
"Bishop of Mallory you say, hah. Never heard of them, but I will say your lit-" just then something sharp and strong had sent him rolling on the ground.
Just as that came, heat and pain, soon followed. Flooding his neck. He tries to lift his hand. But something is off. Trying to turn his head down, his eyes met to a conclusion that he had soon realized...
His body was not all there. Blood flowed from his neck, as thoughts rushed through his head.
Panic raised in him, attempting to shake, shake in fear. His whole body, it wasnt there anymore. Sitting silent, mind racing, not sure what to do, pain filling his neck, his life slowly disappeared.
He opened his eyes, and sat up frantically looking around for anything he could do. Then he realized. He had been asleep, but the pain, it was so real. That was really a dream? Panic still in his eyes he burned his surroundings into his brain.
A soft blue blanket that laid on a cozy bed. Him inbetween. The bed had been taken place in a small house. This house he didn't recognize, but it brought him comfort.
"It was just a nightmare phew." He thought to himself. He didn't really feel like dying, especially like that. The room he was in was small, with wood that followed the bottom of the brick walls.
Still concerned, he made his way through the house. His name was Bashiri, a 18 year old boy. He had brown hair with warm gray eyes, many ladies would definitely like him.
"Creepy, to have a dream such as that. To then wake up in a abandoned house. Not my cup of tea." He lifted his hand to his head uncontrollably rubbing it. It aches like something had truly happened.
He thought he had come to a conclusion to his thoughts. But something seemed to make him feel not at ease. And he realized that even more as he stumbled out the front door of the house. That dream had been a little too real.
The outside air hit his face. Calming him instantly. Bashiri loves the outside, because it was pretty, and calming. And a place to get away from things. This area he had not recognized either, but this time it brought him no feeling at all.
This was a very busy a noisy place. People everywhere, vendors trying to sell. He felt out of place to say the least. There were demi humans and people here too. He searched the area for something to do. The knifes of others made anxiety flow through him. Bashiri was far to younge to work, at least that's what he thought; he had no idea of what he could find here.
He held himself to comfort him. But it didnt have that great of an effect.
"Uhh... searching for somethin to do is boring. Plus come to think of it, i cant really remember anything from before that dream, trying to comprehend everything after that is hard. Do I really not remember, wait whats even my name?"
"You dont remember your name, sir?" Another common faulk let out while he was waiting for Bashiri to purchase something from his shop. Bashiri didn't even notice he'd got in line.
"Oh... sorry I'm just talking to myself. Though it would probably go well asking, what on earth is the currency around here?"
"Uhh, sure, the currency is gold. Gold coins, gold bars, anything gold even a necklace could get you something, if it's gold."
He took a breath, "Your not from around here?"
"No idea to be honest. I just woke up from a bad dream and I was here. I cant remember anything before then, and uhh." Remembering that dream drove him to jump in fear. He took a breath in and out.
"This happened not to long ago." He was shaking remembering the terrible thoughts, and rubbing his neck once again.
"Since now you know my situation... can help me out?" He asked pushing his luck. There had now been formed a long line behind Bashiri, it was taking to long for him to shop.
"Not happening! I, I, uhh, I dont even have anything you would want."
"Come on kid get it movin, if you're broke don't bother talkin." A member of the line yelled with anger. Bashiri guessed even this world had hard people to deal with.
"Ohh come on, I dont have any memories... I'm lost... I have nothing to do... I'm broke, alone. Come on, you can't just spare me something?!"
"Come on kid..."
With a huff he continued, "fine I'll give you something, but you better not intrude again, unless you've got money. Ok."
The man grabbed a bag and handed it over to Bashiri. Bashiri smiled, his tactic was still viable in this world. He remember using it, or more like a feeling. But he didnt recall what for.
Bashiri walked away gleaming. He walked down the path. He looked at himself not noticing that the clothes he had been wearing were rugged, poor, people clothing; brown with tairs. And stains.
Getting embarrassed from the realization, he quickly tuned and looking inside the brown worn bag.
A knife and a new pare of clothes had been waiting inside, and was ready for him to wear. He stared at the knife.
"Did I really dream all that, or was that my past life? It still creeps me out either way, (sigh).."
Not wanting to strip naked in plane sight, he wore the new clothes over top the others. And hid the knife in his right leg pocket, hand shaking even when not meant to.
The clothes were soft and leathery. They were white with red stripes on the shoulders to his legs. The shirt had a hood with the same red stripes. Not knowing what to do he set off. Slowly stomping his way down a dirt road.
There was a giant gate that laid infront of a magnificent white palace. There seemed to be someone infront of the gate, doing something. Apon further inspection he found this person was shaking the gate rapidly. Looking like she was attempting to break it off its hinges.
Her worried expression made him think she was even more cute than he imagined. Wondering why she was here, Bashiri got closer.
"Hey there, is there a problem?" He asked politely, only seeing it has a opportunity for a reward. One he so desperately needed.
He came to this conclusion after seeing the many diamond and gold jewelry she had been wearing, and her white and gold attire.
Silence consumed them as nothing was said. She smiled with star filled eyes, as she turned to him. Tears revealing her true feelings.
"Can you help me... my village on the mountain is on fire!!" Bashiri jumped and his eyes widened. Tears pouring from his eyes uncontrollably. What was going on.
