She reached into her bag, planning to grab her wand. But her movement came to an abrupt halt when the brown envelope in her hand suddenly burst into flames and transformed into two snakes.
One coiled around her body, while the other bit her neck. In an instant, Visix was completely restrained.
"Loose!"
A moment later, at Eyja's signal, dozens of arrows flew fast and pierced every side of Visix's body without mercy. In the blink of an eye, the Fire Witch collapsed, kneeling on the ground—defeated.
Eyja approached her, hopping and skipping cheerfully like an Easter bunny who had just finished its shift.
"Those are poisoned arrows I specially made to immobilize you. Can you still use magic?"
"..."
"Hm? No response? Don't tell me you would die that easi—"
Eyja didn't get to finish her sentence. She jumped back in a flash. Visix, who had seemed on the verge of death, suddenly burst into flames. Within moments, her whole body was surrounded by blazing fire. The snakes and arrows were turned into ashes in an instant. Simultaneously, her wounds were also healed, as if she wasn't even injured in the first place.
"Phoenix's Ember, huh? But you could only used it once a year. So, there will be no more resurrection for you," said Eyja, while pointing at Visix. "What are you waiting for?! Use the Black Arrow and Kill her!!!"
The archers fumbled as they nocked their special arrows and fired again. But this time, none of them reached their target. They were blocked by a wall of fire that slowly growing higher.
It didn't take long before the flames turned into a pillar, then then viciously stormed the town square, devouring everything in its path. All the archers died on the spot, burned to ash.
Meanwhile, Eyja remained untouched, managed to protect herself with a Barrier Spell.
"Just as expected from a demon," Eyja said, swinging her wand. "But I'm stronger than before! I can kill you!"
Eyja chanted a spell, using half her mana to create a massive water typhoon.
"Arrghhh!!!"
With all her strength, Eyja slammed the sphere of water toward Visix, hoping to extinguish her wall of fire. The two opposite elements clashed, causing catastrophe level disaster. But no matter how hard Eyja tried, Visix's fire won't die down. All that water slowly ended up evaporating, incapable of accomplishing a single meaningful thing.
"....this is nonsense."
Eyja wore an expression of disbelief, filled with despair. Meanwhile Visix raised her index finger. Her face looked cold and sad.
"Let's end this... Sister."
Having said that, Visix fired a high velocity Fire Spear that instantly exploded Eyja's barrier. The next second, she casted a Giant Fireball, immediately striking Eyja and setting her ablaze in a burst of flames.
Eyja's screams echoed through the heated air. The same screams that the citizens of this town cried in the past. And just like that day, Visix could only stand in silence, watching her victim burnt to crisp. It didn't take long before Eyja's body crumbled, turned into ash.
After that brief battle, Visix gathered Eyja's ashes—or what was left of her—and scattered them into the open sea. The final tribute she could offer to her friend.
She didn't know what had possessed her friend and turned her astray. Maybe it was actually Visix's fault for leaving her behind, which broke her down, physically and mentally. But Visix also knew that no one stayed sane after dealing with the Kingdom. Visix could only grieve over that sad fate that had severe their connection.
"Goodbye, old friend. Now, I'm truly alone."
The sea wind suddenly blew hard, as if mocking her. Cold and unpleasant. But not enough to quell the heat burning inside Visix's heart.
Now, she was the only witch left.
