Chapter 23:
your morbid screams are melody to the dreadful ones.
Robert Hall was an exceptional Doctor. then he fell in love. and then he lost himself.
now days Doctor Hall walks around feeling drowning on guilt. there is also the fact that he can't forget about the love of his life. Helen was everything to him.
Robert walks around the empty streets. he doesn't seem to care. by himself full of regret and lacking any morality. there is a cold can of coffee. there are ghostly entities in the sky, they seem to be sewed together. their laments full of horror.
Robert stands there observing the view as if it was an artistic piece. he drinks the coffee with such a peaceful mannerism. absorbed by a wounded heart the doctor decided to stand there ignoring all forms of danger surrounding him. there is no glory. there is no salvation. all he wanted was the tender touch of a woman. all he wants now is to just be gone.
Helen was to the doctor much more than a simple desire. she was way more than just another carnal obsession. she was the woman he wanted to protect and defend at all times. she was the woman who stole a piece of his soul at a simple glance.
the world may fall into bankruptcy. the sky may break apart. but there is no greater truth than the fact that Helen is the owner of the Doctor's dreams. she stole his will as a man. even if the heavens were to send a hint into salvation or redemption. Robert has no need for either as Helen is gone for good. and so is his hope. dead. gone.
Doctor Hall looks down on the ground. he looks at an empty can. he kicks it once. there are inhuman noises mimicking laughter. he smirks knowing so well what they want. Robert Hall doesn't care anymore. he provokes it by asking for more.
"Aren't you bored enough? is that all you have to offer?" screams Albert not asking but actually begging for something to end his suffering. and to his surprise nobody answers. the voice coming from the fog keep mocking him.
there are footsteps sounds coming from all kinds of odd directions. Robert Hall looks around sweating nervously. he keeps asking for more. there is nobody. nothing. just some strange sound coming from every direction. it tries to provoke him.
Robert falls on his knees. he starts to drag himself on the ground. there are rocks on the ground that cuts his legs. he starts to bleed as he keeps dragging himself harder. he cries passionately as he keeps calling for Helen. his tears turn into blood. his hair loses color. Robert becomes another man as he lies on the ground broken.
"He is no longer fun. he is a broken toy." whispers one of the voices.
Robert keeps dragging himself on the ground. he drags himself to the dirt. he lies on the ground covered on filth. on blood. stained in yellow. the light of his heart turns soft. there is no rhythm to such a soulless body that drags itself lacking any humane details.
Doctor Robert Hall finally gives up. he is there motionless. broken. wounded.
Robert Hall turns around. he stares directly at the moon. tears come out of his eyes. his hands are all a bloody mess. you can even see the bones in certain parts. he thinks about his days of youth when he started as a doctor. when the world was at his hands.
then in a common day like any other he saw her. there lighten up by the reflection of the sun she appeared almost angelic. abstract even. her beauty was breath taking. but the thing that truly stole his mind was the gentle touch on her eyes. the mixture of loneliness and sadness reflected a life full of pain. he felt attracted to the mystery. Robert wanted to learn everything there was to her and in the journey, he fell in love.
now days Robert wonders if that was truth love. or if maybe he was just bewitched by the mystery wrapped around her. those days started full of color. then soon things started to get dark as Doctor Hall found the love of his life ending the life of kids, the same kids he was supposed to save and protect as a doctor. his obsession with her left him facing a dilemma.
against all his belief Robert became a participant by allowing Helen to kill. then he became even more involved by facilitating things for such a wicked woman to kill even more. and then he lost the plot even more by erasing all evidence.
Helen knew of his cursed obsession, and she pushed him to break even more. he reached a point of no return. he lost himself.
Robert wakes up from a long nightmare mixed up with memories. Robert tries to stand up with a weak fragile body. he falls on his knees. the beaten-up body of a man full of sin. a man in denial who doesn't know if he should feel regret or guilt. a man who doesn't know who to blame for the sins of a miserable past.
then the ground shakes violently. the ground opens in front of him creating a crater like shaped deep hole. there are stairs made of stone leading towards the depth of the hole. looking inside the hole is like watching an endless void.
Robert stands up once more with the little strength he has left. Robert starts to question if he should walk inside the hole or run far away from it. there are voices all around provoking him to take action now. some whisper for him to run. others order him to go inside.
"I am here. I am waiting for you darling." Helen's voice comes from the abysmal hole asking him to condemn himself with a soft bewitching voice.
Robert knows so well that the voice may not be Helen. but right now, hope is the only thing keeping him sane in a world of madness. he laughs like a maniac as he walks by his own will inside the hole with his eyes close turning his fate into a dark mystery.
