Chapter 3:

Croissant 3: Dawn On the Run

In Another World Dreaming Of World Conquest!

After disappearing from the white room in a blinding flash, Dawn opened his eyes.

The first thing he saw? Trees. He was in a mystical lush green forest filled with trees and the chirping of birds.

“Are all the trees in fantasy worlds this big…?”

The trees were abnormally large and the forest ceiling so thick that Dawn couldn't even get a good look at the sky. He glanced around, but there didn't seem to be any signs of civilization in the immediate area. Obviously, he couldn't conquer the world if he was stuck in the middle of nowhere, so he was unsure what to do.

Out of all places to arrive at in a fantasy world, I get sent to some random forest with no one in sight? …Did that Bitch Goddess send me here out of spite or something?

In the light novels he read on Earth, after being sent to a fantasy world, the protagonist usually arrives in some awesome medieval-looking town or at least outside of one. So, he could only blame his luck—and the Bitch Goddess—for being sent to some random forest right off the bat.

After walking around a bit, Dawn spotted a small clearing with no trees and walked towards it.

He arrived at the clearing and looked at the surrounding sky. In the distance—not too far from his current location—he could see a large mountain looming in the sky.

Hmmm... Maybe if I go climb that mountain, I can get a better look at the surrounding area... Well, it's not like I have any other leads. Dawn shrugged and began making his way through the forest in the direction of the mountain.

On another note, did that Bitch Goddess really give me the Skill I asked for? I don't feel all that different. …That Bitch Goddess better have not ripped me off! He thought, still walking through the forest.

Even though he supposedly had the Skill: Almighty, Dawn didn't really feel any different. So, it was either some sort of glitch (?) or the fault of the Bitch Goddess.

About fifteen minutes later, as he continued to walk, he heard a strange noise coming from nearby.

Huh?

Confused, Dawn stopped in his tracks and strained his ears.

Snoooooore…

What the hell is that...? Should I go investigate? ...Wait, I forgot! This is a fantasy world, so there's a good chance it's something like a monster or even bandits! ...But even if it is a monster or bandits, it would be a good chance to test my strength. ...Yeah. I'll go investigate. Deciding to investigate, Dawn cautiously walked in the direction of the strange noise.

After getting close enough, he ducked and hid behind a bush, then peeked over it.

Snoooooore…

In a small clearing, sitting against a tree, was a large green muscular creature, who—based on the loud snoring—seemed to be sleeping.

Is that... an orc...? Yeah. That's gotta be an orc.

Orcs were monsters that appeared in basically every fantasy light novel. So, Dawn—being a former NEET light novel addict—was instantly able to identify the sleeping creature as an orc.

Hmmm... It hadn't noticed me, so should I just leave? After all, if I try to fight it and it turns out im piss weak—that'll be another death to add to my current death count of one. ...No, no, no! What am I thinking?! Dawn began to shake his head frantically.

Why am I chickening out now?! A world conqueror needs fear none! ...Besides, this is the perfect opportunity to test my strength, which is actually very important.

If he truly intended to conquer the world, it was extremely important for him to know how strong he was, and how he measured up against the other beings of this world. Without that knowledge, his journey could very well end before it even began.

Ok! Let's fight this orc! ...Wait a moment. With my Skill, am I able to use magic or anything? How do I even figure that out...? I feel like I'm forgetting to do something important...

Dawn could have just read the Skill Sheet that explained the details of his Skill, but since he was riding the high of being in another world, he seemed to have forgotten that the Skill Sheet even existed.

Eh, whatever. Let's do this. If that Bitch Goddess didn't scam me and really gave me the skill I asked for—I should be able to obliterate this orc in one punch.

After taking a moment to gather himself, Dawn stepped into the clearing where the orc was still sleeping.

He planted his feet, put all of his strength into his legs—and charged toward the orc.

Dawn shot towards the orc with unexpected speed.

W-Whoa…!!

Caught off-guard by the unexpected burst of speed, he quickly lost his balance and slipped. Now mid-air, he hurtled headfirst toward the sleeping orc like a rocket.

“Waahhhhh!”

CRASH!

With insane speed, his head made contact with the orcs chest and pierced straight through, leaving a huge hole and instantly killing it. Nevertheless, Dawn kept traveling forward and pierced the tree the orc was sleeping on, as well as a few others before finally losing momentum.

As he picked himself up from the floor, he began to shout. “What the hell was that?! I tried to run at full speed and damn near turned into The Fwash!”

Naturally, he was now covered in dirt and orc blood, and looked like a walking disaster.

I-Im not hurt, am I...? Fearing that he might have been injured, Dawn looked down at his body.

His white T-shirt was covered in orc blood, his black sweatpants were ripped in a few spots, and he was missing a sandal. But other than that, he was strangely fine.

“Huh. Even after becoming a human rocket, I'm basically unscathed. ...It kinda sucks that my clothes are ruined though… I got this shirt for a good deal..."

A-Anyway, looks like that bitch goddess didn't rip me off after all. If I can run that fast, she probably gave me the Skill that I asked for… Sorry for doubting you, Bitch Goddess. Dawn mentally apologized to the Bitch Goddess.

Still looking like a walking disaster, Dawn resolved to learn how to control his speed and resumed his walk toward the mountain.

On another note, Dawn dubbed the earlier attack the Human Rocket and swore to never use it again.
