Chapter 17:
I Have Terrible Social Anxiety, But the School Thinks I’m a Yakuza Boss, and the Disciplinary President is Trying to "Tame" Me Through Marriage!
The midnight sky hangs heavily over the abandoned industrial warehouse district. Thick, ominous clouds completely blot out the pale moonlight, casting the crumbling, rusted buildings into deep, terrifying shadows. A cold, unforgiving drizzle falls steadily, creating massive, dark puddles across the cracked, uneven concrete. This desolate, highly dangerous wasteland is the absolute last place any normal, rational high school student wishes to be.
However, Ryuu Kuroda does not arrive here to fight a bloody turf war. He is completely, utterly oblivious to the massive, heavily armed criminal coalition currently hiding in the surrounding darkness. He does not know about the hundreds of violent delinquents desperately waiting to ambush him. He remains entirely ignorant of the riot-shield-wielding Disciplinary Committee rapidly marching toward his exact location to wage a full-scale paramilitary conflict in his name.
Ryuu carefully steps over a rusted, broken drainage pipe. His cold, violently trembling hands firmly grip the thick, rubberized handle of a highly extended, carbon-fiber selfie stick. Mounted at the absolute top of the long pole is a small, dual-lens Insta360 camera. Its tiny, bright red LED light blinks rhythmically in the pitch-black night. Ryuu desperately needs high-resolution, spherical reference footage of decaying urban architecture to perfectly recreate a background environment for his digital 3D modeling project. He specifically chooses the absolute dead of night to guarantee he does not accidentally film any terrifying, unpredictable human beings.
"The ambient lighting is terrible", Ryuu mutters softly, his throat incredibly dry from the biting cold wind.
He breathes heavily through his teeth, emitting a low, raspy, demonic growl. His prominent facial scar stretches incredibly tightly across his pale, chilled cheek. He furiously concentrates on keeping the incredibly long carbon-fiber pole perfectly, flawlessly stable. He knows that the slightest, microscopic tremor in his shaking hands will completely ruin the panoramic video capture and introduce terrible motion blur. This intense, overwhelming physical concentration causes his glowing, terrified eyes to narrow into a dark, intense, highly lethal glare. His terrifying "Resting Murder Face" activates at its maximum, most horrifying capacity.
To Ryuu, the long black pole is just a delicate, highly expensive piece of amateur videography equipment.
To the hundreds of terrified, heavily armed gang members hiding silently behind the rotting wooden crates and dented metal dumpsters, the bizarre scene paints a highly chilling, blood-curdling picture. They peer through the suffocating darkness, their hearts hammering violently against their fragile ribs. They do not see a nerdy teenager filming a 360-degree architectural reference video.
They clearly see the supreme, cold-blooded demon boss casually strolling directly into their highly coordinated kill zone. He walks completely alone and completely unarmed, save for a terrifying, unknown, highly advanced technological device raised high into the air.
"What in the world is he holding?", the Poison Viper leader whispers in pure, visceral horror, his heavily tattooed hands shaking as he fiercely grips his steel pipe.
"It looks exactly like a high-tech sensory baton", the Black Scorpion leader pales, violently swallowing the dry lump in his throat. "Look at the blinking red light. He actively uses an advanced, military-grade thermal scanner to completely map our hidden positions in the dark!".
Ryuu slowly rotates the long pole in a smooth, sweeping, overhead arc to capture the rusted iron trusses of a partially collapsed roof. He steps carefully, his glowing eyes locked entirely on keeping his footing secure on the slippery, wet concrete.
"He effortlessly sweeps the entire perimeter!", a terrified thug gasps loudly from the shadows. "He already knows exactly where we hide! He actively mocks our pathetic, primitive ambush tactics by walking directly into the center of our formation!".
Ryuu continues his slow, deliberate march deeper into the dangerous, decaying labyrinth of shipping containers. He actively ignores the dark shadows, desperately focusing his glowing, murderous gaze entirely on the tiny digital preview screen of his smartphone mounted near the base of the stick. He violently scowls at the screen because the digital video feed constantly buffers in the cold weather.
"The heavy rust textures on that steel beam are incredibly detailed", Ryuu thinks with pure, unadulterated otaku joy, a dark grimace still plastered across his face.
The hidden delinquents watch him violently scowl at his glowing, encrypted command device. They confidently assume he is actively calculating the precise, highly lethal trajectory of an incoming, devastating aerial drone strike. The sheer, overwhelming psychological pressure of his completely fearless, casual stroll through their deadly trap begins to completely shatter their already fragile morale. The grand, desperate underworld ambush teeters precariously on the absolute edge of total, catastrophic collapse, entirely defeated by a terrified, anxious boy who simply wants to study wet concrete textures for a school assignment.
