Chapter 1:
A One’s Two
“Yeah. Yeah, I admit it. I’m fucked.” proclaimed the warrior of this specific party as he dwindled his finger on the dragon shaped grip of his sword. His eyes to the ground in embarrassment.
“No don’t do that. It’s not just you. You fucked us all. This little circle here? All knocked up by a one and done. No offense Chama.” The flamboyant archer retorted gesturing to their visibly pregnant priest to close off his statement.
“Fuck you too.” She politely fanned back. He was just probably still mad she puked over one of his best shirts a few days ago.
“But I mean packing light is what they recommend for smaller dungeons like this. The carriage is already squeaking from just the food we brought, no shot we’d be able to carry back everything we found if we overpacked.” The conflict avoidant paladin brought a new point to the forefront coming to the warrior’s defense.
“Yeah but leaving stuff like our camping gear is just unbelievable. No way we’re taking even a little rut like this in just one night. We’d need atleast…atleast…..atleast….urrggh!! Anyone got a lighter?” After giving patting down her robe in the middle of her sentence for her flint stones, she finally decided to pop the question.
They all stared at her in unison.
“What?What!?Oh.”
After processing everyone’s bewildered stares for a moment, the aloof sorceress finally realized she could snap her fingers to make a low level fire cast to light her smoke. As she drew in then exhaled the purple haze, she retreated back into anonymity. Cuddled in her robe like a caterpillar in a cocoon.
As soon the sparks of flame escaped from her snap, the crotchety whispers became slightly audible once more. She barely fidgeted as she was used to them. She was slightly irritated as she should’ve kept her flint stone lighter with her.
Shanel sighed before going to sit on the rock beside Ymel, resting his griffin leathered quiver beside her fairy wood staff.
“We’re already here so no use complaining now. Going back would mean wasting the food we brought with us anyway.”
“Yeah but as I said we’d have to spend the night at-least. We’re looking at probably two floors of fighting in there.” Ymel added while passing the smoke to the sitting Shanel.
“Sleeping on those bare floors after fighting for hours on end wouldn’t do either of us any good.” Mystia, while rubbing her stomach,
spoke on behalf of herself and her 3 months due.
“This is why I was against you coming from the start.” Tnel stated while resting his armored hand on her shoulder.
She noticeably twitched as if she were annoyed at the sentiment.
“I’ll go see if I can find anything that could help with something makeshift.” Tnel announced before venturing off into the forest, almost as if he were fleeing the tension Mystia was trying to spark.
“Don’t venture off too deep. Remember we’re working on borrowed time now!” Myor shouted while leaning under the shade of a nearby tree with his arms now folded.
Mystia kicked him in the shin out of annoyance.
“Yeah, all because of you, jackass. Matter of fact I think you should go with him.”
“Huh? What’s this?” Shanel enquired as the light from his smoke revealed something etched into the wall behind where he was sitting.
The relatively small etched in message on the wall making up a portion of the entrance of the dungeon simply read:
0=4+ 1 Dragon.
