Asshole slayer

On board 2, Lea had opened by moving her pawn to d4, with Mimoko responding with pawn to d5 almost instantly. C4 and e6 soon followed, meaning knight f3 was on the board too.

"Hmm, perhaps I should shake things up a bit," Mimoko thought as she captured the pawn at c4 with her d-pawn.

A smile spread on Lea's face. "Ro-sen-thal," she mouthed before moving her pawn to e3.

A tiny bead of sweat rolled down Mimoko's face as she moved her knight to f6. "She anticipated that... This might actually be a challenge," she thought as Lea captured the pawn at c4 with her bishop.

The two then proceeded down the main line by playing, c5, a king's side castle, and a6, but now it was Lea's turn to try and throw a wrench in the works by moving her bishop to b3.

"Knight- No, b5's better," Mimoko thought as she moved her pawn to b5.

Yet another surprise would find its way to the board as Lea decided to capture the pawn at c5 with her d-pawn. This opened up the d-file, but rather than trade queens, Mimoko quickly moved her queen to c7.

"Ah, Smoothskin wants to keep the queen... Boo," Lea thought as she moved her pawn to a4.

Mimoko moved her pawn to b4 with little hesitation, but paused after Lea moved her b-knight to d2. "This is an even position if I'm not mistaken. She's not playing perfectly, but well beyond her rating. Seems she really might be what Okaa-chan fears she is," she thought as she moved her bishop to b7.

Over on board 3, Tenju ended up getting a lucky break after opening with e4 as Golda's ego demanded she play h5, the Goldsmith Defense. And after d4, e6, knight c3, knight c6, knight f3, d5, and bishop d3, things were not great, but still very playable for Golda, until she captured the pawn at e4 with her d-pawn. Tenju promptly captured said pawn as Golda moved her bishop out to e7, but things were now skewed towards Tenju.

"I remember Golda. She was pompously obsessed with any and anything "gold". But what angered me most about her was that she was always popping by to challenge Taira to matches. I bet she's pining that she'll get an easy win against me... For playing that bad opening, I'll crush her ego," Tenju thought as she castled king's side.

"Look at Tenju. I bet she's bought into all that shit that says I'm an easy mark when I play the Goldsmith. Only thing anyone should be buying into is gold!" Golda thought as she moved her knight to f6.

Over on board 4, Utami moved her bishop to b4 as Chaya decided to ramp up the aggression by moving her pawn to c3. Once again, Utami countered flawlessly, and captured the pawn at c3 with her d-pawn. This was only the first wave though as Chaya captured the pawn at c3 with her b-pawn, but once again, Utami responded perfectly and moved her bishop to c5.

"Oi, is she actually a prodigy!? No one said jack about her!" Chaya thought as she gritted her teeth and moved her bishop to a3.

As soon as Utami moved her queen to e7, Chaya knew she would now have to do some serious lifting just to try and grind out a draw. She captured the bishop at c5 with her bishop, with Utami naturally capturing said bishop with her queen. Yet she still wanted to try and trip up Utami, thus, she moved her king to d1. It didn't work, as Utami made the best possible move she could by moving her bishop to g4.

"Fucking hell... I should've swapped with Golda," Chaya groaned in her mind as she moved her pawn to h3.

"Check. Your gambit might have some power, but not against me, Mimoko-sama's mad queen who sees all lines," Utami glared as she captured the knight at f3 with her bishop.

Chaya naturally blinked in confusion at Utami's statement as she captured said bishop with her g-pawn, but as soon as Utami moved her pawn to f6, her words began to seem more believable. "So that's why she castled back then... Fuck, I thought I really was playing some 2300 bozo," Chaya thought as she moved her pawn to e6.

Ironically enough, Utami's next move of pawn to d4, was not actually the best possible move, though it was by no means a mistake. Chaya then moved her king to c1, while Utami moved her a-rook to d8, preparing to launch a massive attack. Chaya countered by moving her queen to c2, but Utami captured the pawn at c3 with her d-pawn, carving out a potential path to victory.

Chaya's teeth quickly began clattering together as she captured the pawn at h7 with her bishop. "Check! You, a queen? Nobody's heard of you, so how the hell are you playing so good, huh!?" 

Utami scowled as she was now forced to move her king to h8, allowing Chaya to capture the pawn at c3 with her queen. However, her scowl wasn't because of the move. 

"You disregard me because I'm an unknown... Ahahaha! THEN LET ME INGRAIN- Ahem, apologies. Let me show you why I am worthy of being by Mimoko-sama's side. Check!" Utami proclaimed as she captured the queen at c3 with her queen. 

Chaya scowled and began shaking her head furiously. While she did capture the queen at c3 with her knight, this was by no means an even trade as over on the other side of the board, Utami captured the bishop at h7 with her king. "Never forget about the king. It can attack and defend as well," she thought as Chaya moved her rook to b1.

Pawn to b6 instantly thwarted Chaya's plans, sending her back to the drawing board where she decided that knight b5 was her best course of action. Utami attempted to kick said knight out by moving her pawn to a6, but Chaya decided to step on the gas, and captured the pawn at c7 with her knight.

"A bit too aggressive. You just charged into a nasty pin," Utami thought as she moved her rook to c8.

Chaya didn't let up though, deciding to get revenge on the pawn at a6 by capturing it with the very knight it tried to kick away.

"Check, do keep up the mindless swinging, why don't you," Utami scoffed as she moved her knight to b8.

Chaya gritted her teeth as she moved her king to b2 and watched as Utami captured her knight at a6 with her knight. "The fuck didn't Shira do a deep dive on this bitch!? She's toyed with me this whole game! And worst of all, she will be taken seriously, AFTER she's beaten me!" she thought as she moved his h-rook to d1.

Utami began her final assault, initiated by moving her rook to c6. Chaya moved her pawn to h4, but the distraction did little to stop Utami from capturing the pawn at e6 with her rook. Chaya moved her rook to d5, hoping the bolder play might trip up Utami. Instead it backfired, resulting in a check in the form of rook e2, sending Chaya's king to a1.

Utami then moved her knight to c5, inching ever closer to victory, but Chaya moved her rook to b4, doing all that she could to hang on. Next, Utami moved her rook to a8, eliciting a frustrated scowl from Chaya as she captured the pawn at b6 with her rook. Then after Utami moved her knight to a4, Chaya moved her rook to b4, blundering into mate in 3.

"And that's a wrap," Utami thought as she moved her knight to c3.

Chaya let out an audible groan. "We're not gonna win the match now... Fuck," she thought as she moved her rook to d2.

"Check," Utami smiled as she captured the pawn at a2 with her rook.

"Now you smile, huh," Chaya thought as she captured the rook at a2 with her rook.

"Checkmate. Good game," Utami smiled as she captured the rook at a2 with her rook, winning the game.

Chaya sunk her hands into her face. "Fuck... Why'd I have to be the one to lose to her first so the others know of how skilled she is?" 

Thanks to this win by Utami, Japan now led 1-0, however, the match was still far from over.
