Chapter 31:
National College of Sexual Arts
Is compliance a virtue? Different people might have different answers. What I would have said a year ago was obvious, but at the moment, I would give this question a firm ‘NO’, and for good reasons. Compliance has to be a sin. And Sato the security guard was committing it when he squinted at me through the glass and said, “Sorry, I can’t let you in. You need an approved appointment.”
“You must have recognized me. I’m Shuntaro Kuronuma, and I’ve been a student here up until last month! And my girlfriend still studies here. So let me in!”
He swiped through the screen of his phone, scrolling through one short video after another. Wow, his attention span must be so ‘cooked’. I cringed at the awful English internet slang I had just used in my thoughts.
“I had never seen or heard of you in my life.” Because he didn’t bother to check his memory, or his work computer nestled in the space just next to him. Has his midlife crisis made him senile? I pity the latter half of his life.
“How? I celebrated my entry into the college with you. I even know that your name is Sato. How many people know that?”
“My name isn’t Sato.”
“Come on. You’re just lying at this point.”
“I’m not.” Sato picked up the handset of his landline phone.
“Yeah, call your colleagues, so I can complain to them about how much brainrot you are watching right now.”
Upon my threat, Sato actually stopped dialing the number, but seconds later, the realization came that I hadn’t intimidated Sato into silence. It was the person who placed a hand on my shoulder from behind.
Bits of memory swept my mind like the late-summer breeze. I knew deep in my soul that person could only be…
“Mamie!” I grinned as I turned around, face-to-face with Ayu-senpai, who had a similar expression as mine, but with a dash of deviousness.
“I’m flattered to be compared with a cute girl.”
My expression sank. “Oh, it’s you.”
“Yep, your savior. That’s who I am.” She tilted her head to the side, so she could get a direct view of Sato. “He’s with me. Everything is fine, right?”
Sato frowned—or maybe his face was like that from the start; I couldn’t remember. Ayu-senpai gestured for me to follow her through the side entrance and past the sign with ‘National College of Sexual Arts’ written on it.
“How are you doing?” Ayu-senpai asked as we crossed the lawn through the stone path, and around us, a few students were resting on the benches or loitering near the grass. The three lofty blocks stood in a triangle formation as always, and they would do so for many more years. They would watch students join and struggle, until the apprentices bloomed and came back as experienced alumni. I had graduated from this place early; that was it. Ayu-senpai didn’t have to make it seem like a big deal. Plus…
“You literally follow me on Sintagram.”
“I want to hear your voice.” She winked at me.
“Please don’t become straight.”
“Can’t even wink at people? How woke is today’s society?”
I sighed and decided to stop dragging on this conversation. “I’ve been admitted to Tokyo’s Institute of Psychology. Their semester starts next week.”
“You really have to thank Uwabe-chan then. They don’t normally accept applicants this late.”
“Uwabe-chan… are you really calling her that?” The image of my ex-mentor seized my mind, and a sulky expression took over my face. I went to her apartment a few more times to flounder against the hopeless mess, merely shifting the objects around instead of any actual cleaning. She paid me for my work, so I guess I couldn’t complain too much.
“Soon you will have enough saved up for another session with me,” she joked, or maybe she wasn’t joking.
While I shivered just from thinking about the Ace Maiden, Ayu-senpai sank into her own world. “Meanwhile, I still don’t know where I’ll end up next year, even with Uwabe-chan’s help. Being a hooker might not be right for me, because you have to remember that I just want to hook up with hot women, not those filthy men. Oh, no offense. So, I’m thinking of joining the Union early. But then, what would be the point? How would that be different from joining any normal organization? My degree would be wasted. But I guess nothing would really be wasted because of the skills and friends I’ve gained over these three years. Oh, and the cute girls I’ve shagged too. That has also been fun. Maybe no matter where I end up, I will have my three years at this college with me. I should be fine. Thanks, kohai. Thanks for helping me sort out some stuff. Oh look, this is where I split off.”
She waved while breaking away from me towards the Commitment Block, completely ignoring the fact that she was only monologizing in the latter half of our ‘conversation’. I missed the chance to say goodbye, as she slipped away before I could process what had happened.
My eyes lost her in seconds. I exhaled the exasperation trapped within my lungs and resolved to forget this encounter. My legs got the memo and were already starting the trot towards the Intimacy Block, where Mamie’s dorm room was.
With only the first knock at her door, she already swung it open and leaned towards my lips for a kiss. I could barely get a glimpse of her white T-shirt (with the word ‘CUTE’ on the front) and black shorts before the close-up of her face dominated my vision. After pulling me into the room, she slammed the door shut quickly but quietly. Understandable caution, I knew firsthand from the ‘bird calls’ that the soundproofing here was limited.
She brought us towards her bed and dragged me down onto the mattress with her so that my weight pressed onto her delicate body. I pulled away from her warm lips to take a deep breath. Wouldn’t want to suffocate in bliss. “Hey, are you done with your readings yet?”
No idea why I suddenly brought this up. Actually, I had some theories, judging by the heat growing on my cheeks. Mamie smiled and poked at the evidence of my embarrassment. “I’ve done everything on my to-do list for today. You have no clue how hard it is to study law while keeping up with all the lectures and practicals here. I’m sooooo down bad right now. Don’t think for a second that you can escape. I’ll eat you up.”
I couldn’t deny that I was turned on by that (judging by a certain change in my crotch area), but I got a feeling that a bit of resistance would make this even hotter. “But… but what about your duties as the college representative?”
“The duties are never done. Can’t I have. A. Little. Snack?” She kissed my neck in between words. Yep, I was right about how horny this would get me. As if that wasn’t enough, she leaned into my ear and whispered, “Now be a good boy and take off your clothes.”
I did.
After that, it only lasted ten minutes, and oh how I tried to extend these moments in heaven.
We lay side by side on the soft bed, a little sweaty and only covered by the duvet. Faint shapes seemed to swirl on the white ceiling, manifestations of the remnant pleasure. Mamie rested her head against my bare shoulder, her breath audible as she muttered. “I wish I could apply to law school now. Get this anxiety over with.”
I caught a frown on her face, so my hands moved to pat her head. “You’ll be fine.”
She shot me a slight glare. “And how can you possibly know that? Can you see the future?”
I chuckled, and to that, she pouted. Unable to resist her squeezable cheeks, I pinched them softly. “I can’t. But I know you will be fine.”
“Again. How can you know that?”
“I just do.”
“You aren’t making sense.”
I gave her a peck on her forehead. “I can’t explain it. It’s just a feeling.”
She lightly shook her head and scrunched up her face. “Hmph. I don’t believe you.”
In the next breath, she lifted the covers and gently pushed my head downwards. “But… I can be convinced.”
I burst out laughing. “Wow, it’s true that they say that the id can beat up the superego if it gets serious.”
“No one says that.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
I ended up ‘convincing’ Mamie to not worry that much. What I said wasn’t just a platitude, either. Because if I could navigate a relationship without the need to rely on any textbooks, either from Professor Silva Inc. or from any Sexual Arts courses, I just knew that my beautiful, smart, and silver-tongued (her tongue had talent in more ways than one) girlfriend could get into the law program and achieve her new goal of becoming a lawyer for the Union.
Even if she fell short in some way, I would do anything I could to help her. After all, I knew just the asshole who owed me for cleaning her house. With a slightly evil grin on my face, I drifted into sleep next to Mamie, silently thanking the college for bringing me to this moment.
