Falling through a fracture did not feel like falling. It felt like being forgotten. The moment the bridge collapsed beneath them, the world lost direction.
Up vanished.Down twisted.Reality folded inward around the team as chunks of shattered stone floated beside them in impossible slow motion.
Aria couldn’t breathe. Not because she was choking—Because the air itself kept changing. One second freezing. The next burning.
Golden light flickered around her instinctively as the Genesis structures reacted to the unstable layer around them.
“ARIA!”
Lira’s voice cut through the distortion.Aria turned just in time to see Lira spinning through fractured debris toward a collapsing section of stone.
Without thinking, Aria reached out.The world bent.Space twisted sideways.Lira’s fall redirected instantly, pulling her toward Aria instead of the abyss below.
Lira slammed into her hard enough to nearly send both of them spinning again.“…Okay,” Lira gasped, grabbing Aria’s arm tightly. “That power officially scares me now.”
Aria’s chest tightened.“I didn’t even think about it…”
“That’s the scary part!”
Kael crashed onto a floating platform nearby, dragging his blade across the stone to stabilize himself.“Noctis!”
A ripple of shadow answered immediately.Noctis emerged from darkness mid-fall carrying Elyra in one arm before landing beside Kael with unnatural silence.
Elyra looked pale.Too pale.Her eyes were unfocused again.“…The voices…”
Kael looked sharply at her.“What about them?”Her lips trembled slightly.“…They stopped.”
Silence hit harder than expected.Even Lira stopped joking.Elyra slowly looked downward into the endless darkness beneath them.
“…Something down there made them go quiet.”
Noctis’s expression shifted slightly. That alone was concerning.
THE WORLD BELOWThe falling finally stopped. Not because they landed.Because the world beneath the fracture caught them.
Massive black trees stretched across a dark landscape beneath a broken artificial sky.Rivers of glowing silver flowed silently through cracked valleys.
Ruined structures floated upside down in the distance. And above everything—The fracture sky hung like shattered glass suspended overhead.
Aria stared.“…Where are we?”
Kael slowly stood. His expression had gone colder than usual.“…Somewhere we were never supposed to reach.”
Lira looked around carefully.“Well that’s comforting.”
Noctis stepped forward slowly. The shadows beneath him reacted strangely here.Almost alive.“…This layer exists outside normal reality.”
Aria frowned.“…There’s a layer UNDER reality?”
Kael answered quietly.“There shouldn’t be.”Elyra suddenly grabbed Aria’s wrist.Hard.Aria flinched slightly.“Elyra?”
The healer’s eyes were wide with fear.“…Something is awake here.”
A low sound echoed through the distance.Not a roar.Not a scream.A heartbeat.
The ground pulsed once beneath their feet.Lira immediately stepped closer to the group.“…Tell me that’s just the environment.”Nobody answered. That answer was enough.
NO WAY BACKKael moved toward the edge of the floating cliff they’d landed on.He looked upward. The fracture they’d fallen through had already sealed.“…Damn it.”
Aria stepped beside him.“We can’t get back?”
“No.”
Lira crossed her arms.“Cool. Love that for us.”
Kael ignored the sarcasm this time. His focus stayed upward.“…The Core forced us down here deliberately.”
Aria looked at him sharply.“You think this was planned?”
“Yes.”
Noctis stepped beside them.“…Agreed.”Aria frowned.“How can you tell?”
Noctis looked toward the dark forest ahead.“The shadows here are organized.”Lira blinked.“…I’m sorry, the WHAT?”
Noctis slowly crouched, touching the dark ground beneath them. The shadows immediately curled around his fingers.
Not attacking.Responding.His eyes narrowed slightly.“…Something beneath this layer is controlling movement patterns.”
Aria’s stomach tightened.“So we’re trapped in another experiment.”Kael answered immediately.“No.”
A pause.“…This feels older.”That was somehow worse.
🌿 ELYRA HEARS THE VOICEThey moved carefully through the black forest.Nothing here looked natural. The trees had bark that resembled cracked stone.
Their leaves shimmered silver instead of green. And sometimes—The forest whispered. Not clearly.Just fragments.
Broken sounds carried through the air.Aria stayed close to Elyra as they walked.“You okay?”
Elyra nodded weakly.“…Trying to be.”
Lira walked ahead beside Kael.“Hey, if creepy voices start telling you to destroy the world or something, maybe warn us first.”
Elyra actually smiled faintly.“…I’ll try.”That small smile disappeared quickly.Because the voice came back.Elyra stopped walking immediately.“…Wait.”
Everyone froze.Kael turned sharply.“What is it?”Elyra’s breathing became uneven.“…That’s not a god.”
Silence. The forest itself seemed to react. The silver leaves trembled softly.Aria stepped closer.“What do you hear?”
Elyra whispered:“…It’s asking who woke the Genesis Heart.”Kael went completely still.Lira noticed immediately.“…Kael.”
He didn’t answer.Elyra slowly looked deeper into the forest.“It knows we’re here.”
A pulse traveled through the ground again.Stronger this time.Like something massive shifting beneath them.
Aria felt cold instantly.“…What IS this place?”Kael finally answered. His voice quieter than before.“…The remains of the first failed Genesis layer.”
Aria froze.“…What?”
Noctis slowly looked toward Kael.“…You never told us that existed.”Kael’s jaw tightened.“Because nobody was supposed to find it.
THE FIRST HOSTThey reached the ruins just before the artificial sky darkened further.Ancient towers stood half-buried beneath silver roots.Broken symbols glowed faintly along collapsed walls.
Aria noticed something immediately. The symbols looked familiar.Too familiar.“…I’ve seen these before.”
Kael looked at her.“Where?”Aria touched one of the glowing markings carefully.“…Inside the memory fracture.”
Silence.Lira frowned.“That’s probably not a good sign.”
Kael slowly exhaled.“…No. It isn’t.”
Aria turned toward him fully.“You said this place was connected to Genesis Fall.”
Kael didn’t respond immediately. Then:“It started here.”
The wind stopped moving.Even the forest seemed quieter now.Aria’s voice lowered.“…Tell me the truth this time.”
Kael closed his eyes briefly. When he opened them again—Something in his expression had changed. Not colder.More tired.
“…Before you, there was another Genesis host.”Nobody spoke.Kael continued.“She was the first successful synchronization candidate.”
Aria felt her chest tighten.“…Successful?”
Kael nodded once.“At first.”Lira folded her arms slowly.“And then?”
Kael looked toward the ruins.“She awakened too quickly.”Noctis spoke quietly.“…Authority development?”
“Yes.”
Aria swallowed hard.“…What happened to her?”Kael’s voice dropped lower.“She stopped recognizing reality as fixed.”
Silence.Elyra whispered:“…Meaning?”Kael looked directly at Aria.“She began rewriting the world unconsciously.”
Aria stepped backward slightly.“No…”
Kael continued anyway.“Project Genesis Fall was created to stabilize her before total collapse occurred.”Aria’s hands trembled slightly.“…Did you kill her?”
That question hung painfully in the air.Kael didn’t answer immediately. That silence was terrifying.Lira slowly looked at him.“…Kael.”
His voice became almost emotionless.“She asked me to stop her.”
Nobody moved.Nobody breathed.Aria stared at him.“…You’re serious.”
Kael nodded once.“Yes.”
The heartbeat beneath the ground pulsed again.Louder now.As if reacting to the memory.
THE SHADOW BELOWNoctis suddenly froze.Completely.Aria noticed first.“Noctis?”
He slowly turned toward the darkness between the ruined towers.“…Something is there.”
The shadows around him moved violently. Not obeying him anymore.Responding to something else.
Lira immediately shifted into combat stance.“Oh come on, can ONE place in this world not be haunted?”
The darkness beneath the ruins deepened unnaturally. Then—Something emerged. Not physically.
A silhouette.Humanoid.Made entirely from moving shadow.No face.No eyes.And yet—
It looked directly at Noctis.Noctis’s expression changed for the first time since they met.Shock.“…Impossible.”
The shadow figure tilted its head. Then—It spoke using Noctis’s own voice.“YOU SHOULD NOT EXIST.”
Everyone tensed immediately.Lira pointed.“Nope. Absolutely hate that.”
Noctis stepped forward slowly.“…What are you?”The figure answered instantly.“ORIGINAL SHADOW STRUCTURE.”
Silence.Kael’s eyes widened slightly.“…That can’t be alive.”
The figure ignored him.Its attention stayed fixed on Noctis.“INCOMPLETE DESCENDANT IDENTIFIED.”
Aria looked between them.“…Descendant?”Noctis’s jaw tightened.“…I was created from Underworld shadow fractures.”
The figure moved closer silently.“PARTIAL.”A pause.“DAMAGED.”
Lira blinked.“…Okay that was definitely insulting.”Noctis didn’t react. But Aria noticed his hand tightening slightly. The shadow figure suddenly looked toward Aria instead.
The entire ruin trembled.“GENESIS HEART DETECTED.”
Kael immediately stepped in front of her.“Back away.”The figure tilted its head slowly. Then the impossible happened. It bowed.
Everyone froze.Even Kael. The figure’s voice echoed softly through the ruins.“THE HEART HAS RETURNED.”
Aria’s chest tightened violently.“…I don’t know what that means.”The figure answered:“YOU WILL.”
AUTHORITY FEARThe ground beneath the ruins cracked slightly.Golden energy flickered around Aria again automatically.
This time she shut it down immediately.Too quickly.Like she was afraid of it now.Kael noticed.“…Good.”
Aria looked at him sharply.“Good?!”
“Yes.”He stepped closer.“You’re scared of the authority now.”
“That’s a GOOD thing?!”
Kael’s voice hardened.“Yes.”Silence.“…Why?”
Kael looked directly into her eyes.“Because the first host stopped being afraid.”That hit hard.Very hard.
Aria looked away.“…I’m not her.”“No,” Kael said quietly.“…But the Core thinks you can become something worse.”
Silence followed.Heavy.Uncomfortable.Real.
Lira stepped beside Aria after a moment.“…Hey.”Aria didn’t look at her.“What?”
Lira shrugged slightly.“For what it’s worth, you still feel like you.”Aria laughed weakly.“That’s not exactly convincing.”
Lira smirked faintly.“I’m serious.”A pause.“You worry too much to become a monster.”Even Kael didn’t interrupt that one.
THE THING BELOWElyra suddenly gasped again. This time much worse.Green energy exploded outward from her uncontrollably. The ruins shook violently.
Aria caught her before she collapsed.“ELYRA!”The healer grabbed Aria’s arm tightly.“It’s waking up…”
Kael’s expression darkened instantly.“What’s waking up?”Elyra looked downward beneath the ruins. Her voice barely audible.“…The thing beneath this layer.”
The heartbeat echoed again.Closer now.The silver rivers around the ruins began moving backward unnaturally.Noctis looked toward the dark horizon.
“…Something is approaching.”
The shadow figure slowly stepped backward into darkness again.“THE SLEEPING VOID REMEMBERS.”
Lira frowned.“Okay I officially hate every sentence spoken in this place.”The artificial sky cracked above them. Not like the normal fractures. This looked deeper.
Ancient.A massive shadow moved beneath the ground far below the ruins.Large enough to distort the entire landscape around it.
Aria’s breath caught.“…That’s impossible.”Kael slowly drew his blade.“No.”
A pause.“…That’s history.”The ground split open. And something ancient finally began climbing toward them from below the world itself.
