"Hurry up, bring young master to the church!" shouted a man wearing an armor.
One of other man said nothing and proceed to carry the young master and ran hastily through the woods towards the city.
*pant *pant
The man has been carrying the young master for a while and running nonstop and causing his breathing to become heavy. Blood continuously dripping from the young master's body.
Sweat kept dripping from that guard forehead into his eyes, making his vision blurry, but both of his hands were occupied carrying an unconscious body so he can't wipe the sweat away.
After running for almost an hour, he finally reached the church, he was glad that the sun hasn't sunk before he arrives, otherwise everything will be dark in the woods.
"Please call a cleric, anyone!" he shouted desperately.
"He's a young master of Tanner Family, his body is greatly injured, please help him!"
Everyone inside the church was startled by the sudden arrival of a stranger, but their attention quickly shifted towards the severely injured body he carried.
"Hey sister, call the cleric!" said one of the nuns.
"But mother, every cleric has gone to the Cathedral,"
"Ah, I forgot, how about priestess? Is Mother Helena busy?"
"Let me check, but how about Aria, Mother?"
"She's not cleric yet, we need Mother Anna or Alicia permission... but whatever, call her. This is urgent,"
"Yes, Mother,"
One of the sisters immediately ran deeper into the church. Not long after, she returned and opened the door wider.
"Bring him inside," said the sister.
The man immediately entered while carrying the unconscious young master. Inside one of the church rooms, a young girl was already waiting.
"Please lay him down here," said Aria calmly.
The young master's helpless body was placed onto the bed. Before anyone could even react, Aria had already begun transferring her mana into him. She gently held his hand as a soft light radiated from her palm and flowed into his body. Aria stared sharply at his wounds while focusing on the healing process. Everyone behind her watched silently. The process was slow and steady, but the effect was significant.
The deep claw marks across his body gradually closed. Broken bones and torn flesh slowly returned to normal under the influence of her Holy mana. While waiting, several sisters quietly whispered behind them.
"Isn't that young master Glen, from Tanner Family,"
"You knew him?"
"I once went to their mansion to deliver a message. I saw him resting near a tree before,"
"Poor young master... his face is covered in wounds and bruises,"
An hour later, the healing process was finally finished, although Glen still had not regained consciousness.
"Is he okay?" asked the man who brought him.
"For now, there should be no problem, I pour enough Holy mana into him, most injuries are already healed but severe injuries still need time," Aria replied while wiping sweat from her forehead. "After enough rest, he should regain consciousness, it would be best if he stays here for now as the church can help him heal faster,"
"Thank you for your help, I am a guard of the Tanner Family, I am Raka. If young master wakes up, please deliver a message...actually never mind. I will return tomorrow morning if that the case,"
"Yes, we will do that. My name is Aria, Nice to meet you and please be careful,"
After the guard left, one of the nuns approached Aria.
"Aria," she called.
"Ah, Mother Beatrice," Aria was slightly startled by her sudden words.
"How is he doing?" Mother Beatrice asked.
"He is fine," said Aria. "After resting, he should be fully healed, his body accept Holy mana easily,"
"How did a young master from big family like Tanner end up injured so badly,"
"I am not really sure, Mother. The guard didn't explain anything but based in the wounds, probably a sharp force and falling injuries,"
"Hmm... I see," said Mother Beatrice while nodded. "You should accompany him, no need to join this evening's recital. stay here,"
"Yes, Mother,"
Mother Beatrice soon left the room, bringing other sisters with her.
The room finally became quiet.
Aria slowly stood up and moved Glen's body by herself. She carefully placed one of his arms around her shoulder and moved him onto another bed since the previous one had become soaked with blood.
after replacing the dirty sheet with clean ones, she sat down while breathing slightly heavily from exhaustion. She drank some water before quietly sitting beside Glen, unsure what to do next. Eventually, she opened a book and began reading.
The atmosphere inside the room felt peaceful. Warm afternoon sunlight entered through the window while a gentle breeze occasionally moved the curtains. For a moment, the quiet room almost felt detached from the outside world.
As the time passed, the sky slowly turned darker and the air become colder. Aria stood up and opened a drawer nearby before finding a blanket. She gently covered Glen's body with it before returning to her chair and continuing to read beside him. After reading for hours, Aria couldn't hold back his sleepiness and unintentionally let go her book and lean the body towards wall while sitting.
Eventually, tomorrow came.
The sound of small birds chirping rang out through the room. Sunlight entered the from the edge of the window while distant footsteps and conversations from outside the church could faintly be heard.
Among those ordinary sounds, Glen slowly opened his eyes.
"Where am I...? he muttered while rubbing his eyes.
Then he noticed a girl sleeping nearby while still sitting. Her head leaned against the wall beside her while a book rested on her laps.
"Who is she?" he thought.
He slowly looked around the unfamiliar room before noticing the wounds on hid body had already been healed.
He moved his body a little bit and sharp pain surged through his body.
"F**k that cat!"
Glen quietly got off the bed while cursing.
"I want to go home, but it would be rude to disappear without saying anything,"
He found a piece of paper on the table and wrote a short message before placing it on top of the table. "I'm sorry but I need to go, thanks for your help," he murmured softly.
After that, Glen quietly walked outside the room. Several sisters looked at him with surprise, but they smiled warmly toward him. Glen smiled back politely before continuing his walk toward his home. While walking through the road, Glen kept recalling what had happened yesterday.
Back then, he only intended to hunt some deer for a hobby, hunting, so he went deeper into the woods than usual. The forest was quiet, with only sound of leaves moving from the wind. After finding a deer near a river, Glen raised his hand calmly while hiding behind a tree. He focused at materializing his magic and launched several sharp icicles instantly pierced through the deer's body and the deer collapsed immediately. He grumbled "I miss it's head,". He walked toward the corpse while adjusting the gloves on his hand, but the moment he arrived, his expression changed, the deer was gone. Only blood remained on the ground.
"Where the f-?"
Glen immediately stopped walking. Something felt wrong, a deer that large could not disappear that quickly without making any sound even if it's still alive. At the same time, the entire forest suddenly became silent, no sound of birds nor insects. Even the wind itself felt strangely still.
Goosebumps spread across his body. Without hesitation, Glen created an ice step formed under his feet, carrying him onto one of the tree branches to observe his surroundings from above.
"Something is here,"
His eyes carefully scanned the forest. Then his head feel dripping sensation, like a drop of water, he thought soon is going to rain but when he touches his head, it's not water but blood. Then he looked at above him-
A black figure suddenly lunged toward him from above. Glen barely tilted his body in time as a massive claw slashed past his face and destroyed the branch beneath him and made Glen fall.
"Sh**" he cursed.
He immediately created an ice platform beneath his feet before landing several meters away. Only then did he finally see the creature clearly. A giant black beast resembling a cat stood silently on another branch, its body was almost twice the size of a normal tiger, while its golden eyes stared directly at Glen without blinking.
"Why is a beast from black forest doing here?" he shouted.
The creature's claws and fang were stained with blood and the beast making a sound like he was hunting its prey.
The beast suddenly disappeared from sight.
"Fast... too fast,"
Glen instinctively raised multiple ice walls around himself just before the creature crashed through one of them with terrifying force. The impact alone almost made him lose balance.
"It broke that easily?"
Normally, ordinary beasts would already struggle against his ice magic, but this creature tore through like paper and move like an eagle. Glen Immediately counterattack with several ice spears toward the beast, but it can be easily avoided every single one by jumping between trees with monstrous speed.
"It moves annoyingly fast, I can't hit it," Glen clicked his tongue.
"If this continues, I'll eventually run out of mana and I'll definitely die at that moment," Realizing direct attacks were useless, Glen slammed his hand onto the ground and shouted
"Cryogenesis".
Instantly, ice spread rapidly across the surrounding area. The soil, roots, and nearby trees became covered in thick ice. The temperature dropped drastically as cold mist filled the forest.
For a moment, both sides stopped moving.
Glen breath heavily "This is bad," he said.
The creature was more intelligent than he expected, Cryogenesis didn't touch it directly, so the effect is less than it supposed to have and now that beast simply waited outside the frozen area while staring at him patiently, as if it understands that Glen could not maintain this amount of ice forever.
Sweat slowly ran down Glen's face even though it became ice immediately.
"I can't stay here,"
After waiting several minutes, Glen suddenly made his decision. RUN. The moment he dashed away, the beast immediately chased him. Glen continuously created ice walls behind himself to block its movement while running through the forest at full speed.
*Crash
Another wall shattered.
*Crash
Another one broke apart instantly.
"That cat is insane!"
Branches scratched his face while his lungs burned from exhaustion. Eventually, Glen reached the edge of a cliff. He immediately stopped, below him was nothing but a steep drop covered by rocks. The beast slowly approached from behind like he playing with its prey.
Glen gritted hid teeth.
"Should I jump? Is my mana enough to create and ice slide?" he muttered while thinking "Even if it's enough, that thing can easily chase me," Before he could finish thinking, the beast suddenly lunged toward him again. Its claws tore across Glen's body and blood splattered across the cliffside.
However, at the same time, several giant ice spikes suddenly burst out from beneath the ground and pierced through the beast's body. Glen had secretly planted the trap earlier while retreating. but because of the attack's impact and his severe injuries, Glen lost his balance near the cliff's edge.
His eyes widened. "Serves you right damn cat," His body fell and he instinctively create an ice wall to reduce the impact of the fall, but he fainted before he finished creating those walls.
And that was the last thing he remembered before being found later by the guards of the Tanner family.
Glen walking through the street and kick a rock in front of him while murmured "That cat, I'll take your corpse later,". In the way, Raka saw him and called Glen.
"Young master, hey!" Raka immediately approaching him and asking various questions, but Raka saw Glen's face like was not in the mood answering, he stopped mid-sentence.
