Chapter 10:
The ones under the bed
Have you ever woken up drenched head to toe in sweat? Perhaps you had an encounter with the frost beast. The frost beast is a large ape-like creature with hair white as snow. It often lounges by your bedside with it's back towards the bed. When it lets out a low growl, that means it's about to turn to face you. This is your cue to hide under the covers.
The beast has but a single eye, which is the only feature of its face visible through the veil of hair covering it. However, should you stare directly into the eye, you will be frozen in ice. When that happens, all creatures will vanish, and you won't defrost until morning. All memories of the encounter will be erased, and all you'll get in return is being drenched in the melted ice, which will be mistaken for sweat. Thus, if you wish to avoid this, it's best to hide under the covers when the frost beast is about to turn around. Then simply wait until it growls again, as this is the sign that it is leaving the room, before freeing yourself from the covers.
