A day out

It's a lazy weekend. Akio woke up at 12:21PM, and fiddled with his phone while still lying in bed. He spent the night before watching comedy shows, and his need for amusement continued even after a good night's sleep. He taps an icon on the top right hand corner of his phone screen, and a messaging app popped up on his screen.

The latest person he messaged was of course without a doubt, Chiharu.

"Chiharu-Chan, are you free later? Do you want to go to town?"
Akio sent her a message and kept his eyes glued to the screen, anxiously waiting for a reply.

Upon reading the message, Chiharu dived headfirst into her bed and buried her face in her pillow to keep her red cheeks under covers.

"H-he's inviting me on a date!? It's been so long since we last went somewhere together!" She thought to herself while holding her phone with both her hands.

"Sure. Let's meet at 3PM, outside your house." She was really excited, but still nervous, so she could only give a rigid reply to Akio.

Akio leaped out of his bed and triumphantly shook his right fist in the air.

"Okay, see you at 3PM! I'll have to turn off my laptop now and buy a new pen, since my phone's out of battery."
He sent this message with a huge grin on his face, with the intention to confuse Chiharu. He was trying to mimic the comedy show he watched last night, which was filled with sprouting nonsense that made no sense.

Chiharu decided that Akio always has had a few loose screws, and decided to ignore him.

"Okay, don't be late!" Was the response to his message, leading to Akio feeling embarrassed.

"Was it really such a lame joke that she didn't even want to respond to it!? Am I weird for finding what I watched last night funny??" Akio ended up being confused himself.

Before long, they were headed towards town together. In true Akio fashion, he threw together a sloppy outfit that consists of the first T-shirt and jeans he could find, and the shoes he uses in PE lessons.

On the other hand, Chiharu dolled herself up nicely. She has her hair tied in a ponytail with a big ribbon as the hair tie, and she made sure that her bangs sat neatly atop her forehead. She picked a blue one-piece dress as her outfit for the day.

The two walked closely together, further emphasizing the stark contrast between them. However, Chiharu doesn't even pay any attention to the way he is dressed, since that's already his "default look" to her, and all Akio can think about is how good looking Chiharu is today.

"Hehe.. Chiharu-chan, you went through such a huge effort to make yourself look good today. It's for me, right?" Akio tried to push her buttons.

"O-of course it's for this date-- I mean, I always want to look nice when I'm outside!" She fumbled with her words, and appeared visibly flustered. The exact reaction Akio wanted.
He's feeling extra playful today, and he's thinking of going to places that provides amusement.

"Did you have your breakfast already, Chiharu?"

"Yeah."

"Then let's skip lunch and have dinner together later. For now, let's go to the arcade!"

Akio grabbed her by the hand and dragged her along. He ignored her despite her protests of "hey, don't go making decisions by yourself!"

But she thought it wasn't so bad, after all. It's actually pretty fun.

"Hehe, you're just like a child, Senpai." Chiharu giggled while still being pulled by Akio from the front.

"Hey, I'm older than you! I'll pick up the pace now, Chiharu-chan! Make sure you keep up!"

"H-hey!! Let go of my hand!"

"No can do!"

This continued until they reached the arcade. It is located at the corner of the shopping district in town, and it is surrounded by coffee houses and family restaurants, a very unfitting location for an arcade.

The two generated quite a lot of noise as they made their way there, and Chiharu got a little angry.

"Senpai, why do you have to always do such embarassing things in public!? We're getting funny looks!" She chided Akio with a dead serious look on her face.

Pfft.

"What was that!?" The look on Chiharu's face grew even more stern.

"HAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU LOOK SO CUTE WHEN YOU'RE MAD!" Akio bursted out in hysterical laughter, once again attracting the public eye to them.

"Come on, here you go again! I had enough of you, dummy..!" Chiharu spoke in a low tone, looking down at her feet. She wanted nothing more but to hide herself now, as she really hates public attention.

"Alright, alright, Sorry about that, Ayakouji-Sensei. Let's head on into the arcade now!" Akio patted her on the head while still trying to contain his laughter.

"Ayakouji-Sensei? Do you want me to leave now?" Chiharu raised an eyebrow.

"Hehe, of course not! Let's have fun, Chiharu-Chan!"

"I'll teach you a lesson or two in Prince of fighters later!!" Chiharu's fighting spirit arose, fueling her desire to beat Akio and stand above him to contain his teasing.

"A lesson? Alright, bring it on, Ayakouji-sensei!"

"I'll be sure to bring it, guy who's my senior but calling me his sensei!" Chiharu declared war.

Chiharu unintentionally drew even more attention to herself as she spoke loudly, something that is very unusual for her. But at this point, she doesn't even notice the stares anymore, and Akio didn't even care in the first place. They were completely immersed in each other's company.

Contrary to Chiharu's confident exclamations of how she would beat Akio, she lost to him in everything, from fighting games to air hockey.

"GAHAHAHAHA! It feels so good, this is the only thing I can beat you in, Chiharu! Games!!" Akio laughs triumpantly while rubbing his hand on the head of a pouting Chiharu.

Chiharu's pout broke into a smile, letting out a soft "pfft" sound.
"Senpai, you're really just a kid, hahahaha! Imagine saying something that childish at your age!" Even Chiharu broke out in laughter.

"Laughing like this in public, has the shy Ayakouji-sensei evolved into pro-gamer Chiharu who laughs loudly whenever her rival Akio beats her!?" Akio said something random off the fly.

"See, that's what I mean! Hahaha! But that's just what I like about you, Senpai!"
Oh. What did I just say? Chiharu thought to herself. But at this point, she couldn't care anymore and she just wants to have fun.

"What about me?" Akio said with a grin on his face.

"Nothing about you, dummy. I'm hungry, so let's go eat now!" Chiharu started to leave without waiting for Akio.

"You know I heard what you said, right? You better tell me what you said properly to my face now, because I'm so handsome other girls would snatch me up anytime!" Akio screamed after her.

Chiharu turned around and walked back towards Akio.

She leaned towards his right ear and said, "You're so stupid that I'm certain no other girls would want you."

She then pulled herself away from him, and made a "Tee-hee" sound.

Akio is a little flustered by now, or to put it in another way, intoxicated by how much fun he's having seeing the usually red-faced Chiharu so proactive.

"You're really bold today, huh, Chiharu. You have no respect for your Senpai! Come here now, I'll punish you!"

"They say when you teach someone something, you learn something too. In this case, I learnt how to use your stupid sense of humor in exchange for some of my academic knowledge! Come chase me then, to the Ramen joint!" Chiharu started to run.

"Heyyy, don't go making decisions by yourself!" Akio mimicked Chiharu as he ran after her.

"You won't get any reaction from me, dummy!"

And so the both of them eventually came off the high they got from having so much fun, and had a satisfying meal. They then walked home together, speaking a lot lesser to each other than usual. The both of them fell asleep extra early that night.

Chiharu was acting like she was completely drunk, doing things that she would never dream of doing in public places. But having fun with the guy she likes removed all common sense from this logical and easily flustered girl.

Her face turned completely red the next day, thinking of the things she did.
"I acted just like that idiot!!!!!!"
She then swore to herself that she would never act that bold and wild ever again.

Meanwhile, Akio is still fast asleep in bed, snoring loudly. It was a great day out for him as well, being able to see a new side to the girl he likes. He fell asleep while still thinking of Chiharu's cheeky smiling face at the arcade, and is probably dreaming about it now, too.
