Chapter 4:
A Love Hidden Behind Contracts
After looking for nearly two days, Noha finally found Nora in the deeper levels of the Red Moon Library a place most people avoided entirely.
The Red Moon Library was so enormous that even experienced hunters could lose their way within minutes. Towering blackwood bookshelves stretched endlessly toward the ceiling, connected by narrow bridges suspended between the shelves. Only the faint glow of enchanted lanterns that floated silently through the air like wandering stars, casting soft golden light across the endless halls.
Those dim lights illuminated endless shelves of ancient records, mission reports, and forbidden archives. Somewhere in the distance, the soft sound of rain echoed faintly between the towering bookshelves.
Noha stopped walking the moment he found the source of the sound. “A child?” There was a girl sitting in one of the deepest public sections of the library as if it was her personal territory.
Books were scattered across the large wooden table. Half-eaten snacks rested beside open documents. Several pens rolled carelessly near the edge. The sound of rain continued to play from her phone while she calmly flipped through another report without the slightest awareness of her surroundings. Noha’s sharp crimson eyes narrowed slightly as he recognized the face immediately from the thin file. Nora.
For several silent seconds, he simply watched her, wondering if this was really the girl from the file.
Nora looked far too comfortable and bored in a place most people found intimidating to even enter due to the number of people who had disappeared inside this library.
Her messy green hair fell unevenly around her face, soft enough to make her look harmless at first glance. Under the warm library lights, faint emerald tones shimmered through the strands whenever she moved. Her purple eyes, however, ruined any innocent impression immediately. They were sharp, calm, and strangely observant.
Despite being one of Red Moon’s higher-ranked hunters, Nora dressed almost painfully casually. Oversized hoodies, loose clothes, headphones hanging around her neck, and a permanently exhausted expression made her look more like a tired student who had accidentally wandered into next semester’s library section than someone known as the Witch of the Battlefield.
Books were scattered across the large wooden table. Half-eaten snacks rested beside open documents. Several pens rolled carelessly near the edge. . and there are few manga and a games casually sitting with all other important document.
Finally, Noha stepped closer, his polished shoes echoing softly against the dark floor.
“…You’re Nora.” His voice was calm, cold, and naturally authoritative. It wasn’t a question.
The girl lazily looked up at him from behind her headphones. “Umm… yes? That’s me?”
Noha looked down at Nora, who was still sitting casually. “…Your workspace is a disaster.”
His gaze swept across the table, filled with ancient magic books mixed together with manga volumes and handheld games.
A quiet pause followed.
“Excuse me?” Nora though to herself “Great. Another annoying person who wants to ruin my peace? cant he just find someone else?” Despite the complaint running through Nora's mind, her expression remained calm on the outside, wearing nothing more than a polite fake smile. “And your music is loud enough to be heard halfway across the hallway,” Noha added coldly. “Oh. Sorry about that, sir.” Nora lowered the volume of her music, put her headphones back on, and returned to her work. Nora thought to herself again Nora’s expression remained calm, but her fingers tightened slightly around the edge of the report. "Can’t I catch a break? Why is this tall, scary guy still standing here?"
Silence.
Noha stared at her for a long moment. Most people inside Red Moon became nervous the moment they recognized him. This child had apologized for the music and then continued studying as if he were merely another librarian passing by. “…You’re surprisingly relaxed.”
Noha's tone remained calm, though faint disapproval lingered beneath it. Nora think to her self again "well unfortunately i cant use magic to throw you out of the window. why are you even after me? cant you see i am trying to do something here?" Nora try to stay formal but her face show bit of annoyance. “What?” Nora looked back at Noha again, only for Noha’s eyes to slowly drift toward the table.
“…Are those chips sitting on top of classified mission reports?” Pause. “And is that an energy drink? Three of them?” Another pause. “…At your age?” Without waiting for an answer, Noha reached over and lifted one of the documents between two fingers. His expression somehow became even colder. “…Amazing.” His voice remained perfectly controlled. “How have you managed to lack basic document care to this extent?” despite the strictness in Noha's voice, there was something oddly controlled as he he scanned the documents briefly before noticing the notes written in the margins about the Attack patterns, Weakness predictions and Correction marks on official reports.
“Hey! Give that back right now!” Nora stood up immediately. “That’s not a public document!”
Noha look down at Nora who can hardly reach his shoulder “…You edited a senior hunter’s field report.” Noha’s eyes narrowed slightly. “…In multiple colors of pen.”
Long silence.
There was now the faintest trace of disbelief hidden beneath his cold composure. “You either possess exceptional confidence…” His gaze lowered toward Nora again. “…or absolutely no survival instincts.”
“Well... that’s not the real document. It’s just a copy…” Nora tried to sound confident, but the nervousness in her voice was obvious. “And it’s available to the public inside Red Moon web!” She reached out for the paper. “Just give it back!” But Noha simply raised his hand higher, making the height difference even more irritating for Nora.
“You drank three energy drinks while reading important documents alone in the deepest section of the library, And somehow still managed to lack basic document care.” Noha said in an extremely judgmental tone.
“Hey! It’s none of your business!” Nora jumped and finally snatched the paper back from him before quickly shoving it into her bag. “Who even are you? What do you want from me?” Nora asked, both annoyed and bit mad now. “Well…” Noha’s crimson eyes settled on her calmly.
“To answer your question, I came because of you, Nora.” His voice came out straightforward and cold.
