Chapter 4:

Polish superbet

En Passant Grandmaster Volume 7

Okisato let out a groan as he turned to see a bald man with a green goatee, along with three other men, marching towards him. "You two should go on ahead. I have a feeling this is going to take a while."

"No, I'm not letting you out of my sights," Mimoko angrily smiled as she clamped her hand down on Okisato's shoulder.

"I'm fueled by drama," Iori grinned as she whipped out her phone.

"Fine, guess I'm the one these guys have an issue with anyway," Okisato grumbled as he turned to face the  bald man and his entourage.

"Znalazłem cię. Jesteś szumowiną, która sabotowała naszą kobiecą drużynę, atakując moją córkę [I've found you. You're the scum that sabotaged our women's team by assaulting my daughter]!" the bald man fumed.

Okisato sighed as he recognized the man. It was Jarosław Abgarowicz, Poland's prime minister and Jadwiga's father. Considering what had just recently happened with Jadwiga in round 3, Okisato had been dreading an encounter with him, mainly due to how upset he'd be about Jadwiga now having a fatal flaw and becoming a huge liability for the women's team, thanks in no small part to him.

As for Jarosław's entourage, they were all his fellow teammates. There was Alojzy Bartoszewicz, a young man with buzzed blonde hair and a beard, Zygmunt Budka, a bespectacled middle-aged man with a coral-colored beard and wildly styled balding hair, a mustachioed man in a blonde wig, named, and finally, the elderly Bardila Husk, who made up for his lack of significant head hair with his long beard and thick eyebrows that completely covered his eyes.

"You don't speak Polish, do you? The prime minister only speaks Polish, so if you don't speak it or find someone that can translate it, you're in for a rough time," Alojzy scowled.

"Dobrze, że wtedy mówię płynnie. Więc jaka jest twoja wołowina [Good thing I'm fluent then. So what's your beef]?" Okisato asked.

Jarosław scowled and fixed his suit coat. "Chcę odszkodowań od twojego zespołu. WSZYSTKO! Wykrwawię cię do sucha za wszystko, co warta jest twoja drużyna [I want reparations from your team. EVERYTHING! I'll bleed you dry for everything you're team is worth]!"

"Potem rozstrzygamy to w szachach. A jeśli wygram, wycofasz wszystkie zarzuty przeciwko mnie i mojej drużynie i przeprosisz mnie, klękając na podłodze w dougeza i pozwalając mi nadepnąć na twoją głowę [Then we settle it in chess. And if I win, you drop all charges against me and my team, and apologize to me by kneeling on the floor in dougeza and letting me step on your head]."

Jarosław gritted his teeth, but ultimately agreed to the match.

Once the board had been summoned, Jarosław opened the game by moving his pawn to b4.

"The Polish? Well, guess that isn't too surprising. Lets see if my various thrashings from Peter can help me counter this in style," Okisato thought as he moved his pawn to e5.

Next came the predictable bishop to b2, meaning it was go-time for the ultimate disrespect.

Jarosław's eyes widened as Okisato moved his king to e7. "Obrażasz mnie [Are you insulting me]!?" he fumed as he captured the pawn at e5 with his bishop.

"Tak, jestem [Yes, I am]," Okisato smirked as he moved his king back to e8.

Jarosław shot Okisato a look of fury and disgust as he moved his bishop to c3. His expressions and mood weren't exclusive to him though, as many of those gathering around to spectate the game were also displeased with Okisato's play-style.

"One, two, lots of faces here not liking how I'm playing, Inoue-senpai naturally amongst them. But if I remember my teachings proper, this Entrepreneur Polish Gambit Masterclass, or EPGM Gambit as Peter dubbed it, has the potential for a nasty trap. A trap that players like this guy have a higher tendency than most to fall for," Okisato thought as he moved his pawn to a5.

Jarosław naturally spat in disgust at the move and moved his pawn to b5.

"Ugh, what is he doing? I couldn't understand a word of what they were saying, but I take it it's something related to a bet," Mimoko groaned as Okisato moved his pawn to d5.

"Yo, they're betting on shit!? I bet it all on Oki-kun!" Iori cheered as Jarosław moved his knight to f3.

"You have the gall to root for that guy? He's doing nothing but disgracing the game itself," Inez scowled as Okisato moved his knight to f6.

"Uh, duh, it's Oki-kun. He's gonna sweep up Baldybeard here," Iori grinned as Jarosław moved his pawn to e7.

"So you're rooting for him because he's your type? Sheesh, guy looks like an NPC. How do you find any attraction in that?" Inez scoffed as Okisato moved his bishop to d6.

"You don't know how giga-chad and based he is," Iori smirked as Jarosław moved his bishop to e2.

"Ugh, I can hear you all. Well whatever, let them gossip. I've got an impossible comeback to make possible," Okisato thought as he moved his king to f8.

As Jarosław castled king's side, Okisato continued to baffle all around him by moving his king to g8.

"Wow, like, no rhyme or reason. Bro's cooked," Saloni snickered as she took a selfie while Jarosław moved his pawn to a4.

"Really? I don't see any steam coming out of him," Inez grumbled as Okisato moved his pawn to h5.

"Wanna bet like tey're betting?" Saloni smirked as Jarosław moved his pawn to d3.

"Yes! Yes! Me! Me! ME!" Iori waved as Jarosław moved his b-knight to d2.

Inez took another look at the board and scowled as she watched Okisato move his pawn to h4. "Fine, I'll toss in the lowest bill I have just to show my conviction in that that NPC's gonna lose."

"And any more bets? If no, we close the pot," Zygmunt gushed as he covered the money pile with his suit jacket.

Now with money on the line, the atmosphere around the game had naturally become more intense. But for the players themselves, nothing had seemed to change.

"Mów o trywialnych. Ale jeśli chcą marnować swoje pieniądze, pozwól im na to. Żałuję tylko, że nie mam konia w wyścigu [Talk about trivial. But if they wish to waste their money, let them. My only regret is not having a horse in the race]," Jarosław muttered under his breath as he moved his pawn to e4.

"Oskarżyli cię o zmowę, gdybyś ty lub twoi kumple zaangażowaliście się w zakłady [They'd accuse you of collusion if you or your buddies got in on the bets]," Okisato snickered as he moved his knight to h5.

"Tak jakby [As is]!" Jarosław scoffed as he moved his pawn to g3.

Okisato silently shrugged and calmly moved his bishop to h3. With four pieces now all lined up in a row on the h-file, many onlookers as well as Jarosław himself, had great reason to feel certain about Okisato's loss.

"Cóż za bałagan w formacji, a dzięki temu, że przesunął swojego gońca, a nie zbił pionka, dostaję kolejny łup wojenny [What a mess of a formation, and thanks to him moving his bishop and not capturing the pawn, I get another spoil of war]," Jarosław thought as he captured the pawn at h4 with his knight.

In that moment, a chill pulsated throughout the room as a demonic grin began to form on Okisato's face. "I've been waiting for this. Daj się wyruchać [Get fucked]!" he manically laughed as he captured the knight at h4 with his queen.

"A najlepsze jest to, że pierwotny zakład, który postawiliśmy, wejdzie w życie! Przygotujcie się na reparacje, które zapłacicie za przykręcenie Polsce [And best of all, the original bet we made will go into effect! Prepare for the reparations you'll be paying for screwing over Poland]!" Jarosław huffed as he captured the queen at h4 with his g-pawn.

"Dzięki za przypomnienie. Oznacza to, że nie tylko zrzucisz wszystkie zarzuty, ale także uklękniesz głową na ziemi w dougeza i pozwolisz mi na nią nadepnąć, prawda [Thanks for reminding me. So that means you'll not only drop all the charges, but also kneel your head on the ground in dougeza and let me stomp on it, right]?"

"Prawda? Jesteś zwiedziony! Nie jesteś- [Huh? You're deluded! You're not-]"

"Check," Okisato declared as he moved his rook to g6.

Jarosław shook his head and reached for his bishop, but suddenly froze as a sudden realization hit him. "... Zostałem zmuszony! Jeśli zablokuję gońcem, on zbije go swoim, a wtedy będę musiał albo przesunąć mojego króla i stracić mojego królowym, albo złapać gońca moim królowym i stracić go tam. Że przebiegły... Nie, po prostu muszę przesunąć mojego króla. To takie proste! Król musi się tylko poruszyć i wszystko zostanie naprawione [... I've been had! If I block with the bishop, he'll capture it with his, and then I'm faced with either moving my king and losing my queen, or capturing the bishop with my queen and losing it there. That conniving... No, I just need to move my king. It's so simple! The king just needs to move and it will all be fixed]!" he thought as he moved his king to h1.

"Check," Okisato grinned as he moved his bishop to g2.

Jarosław's gaze began to narrow, before suddenly widening in horror. "Nie... NIE, TO NIE MOŻE BYĆ! NIE WIDZIAŁEM TEGO! NIE [No... NO THIS CAN'T BE! I DIDN'T SEE IT! NO]!" he thought as sweat began to flood down his face.

"Co jest nie tak? Król g1 to jedyny ruch, jaki możesz wykonać [What's wrong? King g1's the only move you can make]," Okisato snickered.

Jarosław clenched his fist and gritted his teeth before letting out a frustrated groan and begrudgingly moving his king to g1.

"So kind of you to realize it. Checkmate, now on the floor, dougeza," Okisato scoffed as he moved his bishop to f3, winning the game.

Save for Mimoko and Iori, all the onlookers stared in shock.

"Why did I expect this outcome?" Mimoko grumbled to herself.

"Uh, cuz it's Oki-kun. We know how easily he wrecks," Iori grinned.

Inez and the others all stood in utter shock and horror. Their jaws all hung down, their eyes widened to the max, it was as if the shock of losing had caused all of them to malfunction.

"S- Since when... SINCE WHEN DID THIS SHIT SUDDENLY START WINNING!? HE WAS LOSING! LOSING! L-O-S-I-N-G LOSING! SO HOW THE FUCK DID HE WIN!? DID YOU THROW ON PURPOSE!?" Inez fumed as she pointed her finger at Jarosław.

"Nope, he just fell for a trap I was banking on him stumbling into," Okisato stated as he approached Jarosław.

"And that was?"

"Review the game yourself. A magician never reveals his secrets," Okisato smirked as he shoved Jarosław out of his seat and onto the ground. "Teraz uklęknij i pochyl się, upewniając się, że twoja głowa dotyka ziemi [Now, on your knees and bend over, making sure your head is touching the ground]."

Jarosław hesitated, leading to Okisato shoving him into position, himself, and stomping down hard on his head. So hard, the impact caused Jarosław's nose to break as his face was slammed into the hard floor.

"No more diplomatic rows with us now, trash."

Releasing his foot off Jarosław's head, Okisato began to leave as Jarosław's teammates rushed to his aide.

"Oi, he's not conscious! That was too far!" Bardila trembled.

"He'll regain it soon. Now I need to go," Okisato grumbled as Mimoko clamped her hand down hard on his shoulder and began dragging him away.

"Ta-na-be-kun, I'll want an explanation as to why you stepped down so hard on that man's head," Mimoko angrily smiled.

"Uh, I took care of the complaint Poland had against us."

"Poland?"

"Yeah, that guy's their prime minister."

Mimoko's eyes bulged as her face began to go pale. "Y- YOU STOMPED ON THE HEAD OF ANOTHER COUNTRY'S PRIME MINISTER!?"

"He agreed to it, so there's nothing he can do about it."

"YOOOO! Hardcore as fuck, Oki-kun!" Iori grinned as she giddily followed behind.
