Shan Chui, the Melancholy Cat (Part 4)

"Poot!"

Debiru accidentally let one rip.

It smelled absolutely horrible. If they didn't do something fast, everyone would end up dying from the toxic fumes.

"Meow! Debiru! What are you doing?!" Tanimaki cried in a panic.

"We have to open the door! Hurry!" Mayutan shouted.

Shan Chui quickly opened the door, and disaster was narrowly avoided.

"...Sorry," Debiru said apologetically.

His farts were extremely dangerous. They contained an extraordinarily high concentration of hydrogen sulfide.

"We're completely out of ideas," Mayutan said. "How about we all go to karaoke?"

"Meow! Great idea! Let's go cheer ourselves up!"

Back when he was human, no matter how many times Tanimaki invited his subordinates out, not a single one would come with him. Needless to say, he was thrilled.

"Shan Chui, would you like to come too?"

Mayutan invited him. After everything that had happened, there was no way they were going to leave Shan Chui behind by himself.

"Sure."

Shan Chui agreed. It seemed he also wanted something to take his mind off his gloomy thoughts.

The group headed to a nearby entertainment district. There were plenty of karaoke places, but they decided to visit Big Nyako, the most famous karaoke chain in the Republic of Meows.

"All right, everyone," Mayutan said. "We've got plenty of money, so order whatever food and drinks you want—and sing as much as you like!"

Ruritel volunteered to go first.

As the lead vocalist of a band she had formed with her friends, she was an exceptionally talented singer.

Even when a staff member entered the room, she never stopped singing. She was that confident.

Mayutan and Debiru also proved to be surprisingly good singers.

Meanwhile, Tanimaki didn't sing a single song. He spent the entire time eating and drinking.

"My turn."

Shan Chui finally picked up the microphone.

"Living is such a pain~♪
But dying is a pain too~♪
Ah, what a pain~♪
Everything's such a pain~♪"

The lyrics perfectly reflected Shan Chui's state of mind.

By the time he finished singing, even Mayutan and the others were starting to feel depressed.
