Chapter 1:

Excavators

Inversion Horizon

The world we know today is hardly completely understood. Humans stay limited to their confined areas for they fear the unknown. But some individuals step out of it and explore places public never went to. And it's because of them that the world has been charted as far as it has — though far is not the same as all.

"Grix, you ready?" Mark's voice carried the calm of a man who had asked that question a hundred times and meant it every time.
"You don't need to ask anymore, Mark."
Behind them, Kate's voice cracked through the wind, half order, half plea: "Gwen! Suzy! Don't you dare die on me!"
"We know, Kate!" — two voices this time, overlapping, daring each other not to sound afraid. Neither succeeded.

I am Grix. And we are Excavators. Come with me to the most supernatural places. We look up the rumors or information about supernatural places and explore them. And Currently We are stuck in one hell of such place.

The storm hadn't just hit the land. It had taken it — torn the ground loose in slabs, rooftops, fences, all of it spinning around us in the dark.
They weren't standing on solid ground. They weren't standing on anything.

"It's time, now!" Mark roared.

Five bodies launched off the breaking ground in the same heartbeat. Behind them, a boulder the size of a car slammed into the slab they'd just abandoned, shattering it to dust.

Suzy hit the next platform hard, breath ragged. "I swear, I'm not cut out for this! I want out!"

"Then survive long enough to get out!" Mark shot back, grinning like the storm wasn't trying to kill them.

"He's right!" Kate didn't even slow down — she leapt past them mid-sentence, already gone.

Grix's fingers locked around Gwen's wrist, knuckles white, nails biting skin — better that than letting go. The wind screamed past them in a language with no words, only pressure, only threat. One slip, one missed landing, and the storm would have her.

They moved like that — hand in hand, leap after leap — across a world that kept trying to disappear beneath their feet. Each new patch of ground felt smaller than the last, like the storm was tightening its fist. And then, slowly, it wasn't.

The shriek of wind dulled to a low growl. The flying debris thinned to scattered grit. Solid earth, blessedly unbroken, stretched ahead of them instead of crumbling apart in real time. Grix didn't trust it at first — kept his stride short, his grip tight — until the storm's edge finally fell behind them, and the only sound left was five people breathing like they'd just remembered how.

They had made it. Barely. Alive.

"So — who knew the Himalayas were hiding a fever dream behind all that pretty scenery?" Mark laughed it off, already brushing snow from his sleeves like the storm had been a minor inconvenience.

"Huh! You feel like joking? My heart nearly gave up back there!" Suzy shot back, still catching her breath.

"Anyhow, we made it out just fine—" Grix started, before Gwen's pointed glance cut him off. He followed her eyes down to their hands, still locked together.

"Oh. Right." He let go, a beat too late to look casual about it. Before the silence could turn into anything more awkward, his phone buzzed. A notification, sharp and out of place against the quiet.

Mark questioned, "What does it say?"

"A trip to Japan."

"Japan! Oh I am so excited for our next place!" Suzy's whole face lit up, exhaustion forgotten.

"Weren't you going to stop doing this?" Mark nagged.

"What are you talking about? Its Japan."

"Then it's settled — Japan's next," Gwen said, already turning to walk.

"Sure, fine, Japan," Kate muttered, pulling her jacket tighter. "But can we please get off this mountain first? I'm freezing."

One by one, they fell into step behind her, boots crunching against snow that, an hour ago, had nearly buried them alive. The Himalayas shrank into the distance — another storm survived, another door quietly closed behind them.
