"You're such a handsome tomcat, Mr. Filder. It's a shame," said Ruritel.

"I wish there were some way..." Filder muttered, leaving the problem entirely to someone else.

"If we come up with a way to help you get closer to Miss Cecil, would you give us the medicinal herbs for free?"

Mayutan immediately turned it into a negotiation.

"P-Please! If it means I can date Miss Cecil, 25,000 yen is a bargain!"

Filder's excitement made him raise his voice.

"Well, meow... Talking to her is one thing, but actually dating her is a whole different story, meow."

Tanimaki wasn't exactly enthusiastic.

"Come on. I'm sure there's a way. Let's think this through."

Mayutan loved tackling difficult problems like this. After all, it never hurt to save money.

"I-It's already getting late today. My father runs an inn nearby, so please stay there for the night. You don't have to pay anything."

Filder made them an irresistible offer.

"Yay! I finally get to take a bath again!"

Ruritel cheered.

"And make sure it's a feast, meow."

Tanimaki's greed knew no bounds.

Filder contacted the inn in advance and arranged for Tanimaki and the others to stay there free of charge.

Following the directions Filder gave them, the four travelers soon arrived at the inn run by his father.

Its white plaster walls glowed beautifully beneath the moonlight. Even the small garden had been meticulously maintained, reflecting the owner's pride and attention to detail.
