Chapter 20:
Master of the Cosmos: Dimension Chaos
The night was restless.
Xen lay in bed, his eyes open, staring at the ceiling. Beside him, Valeria slept peacefully, her breathing soft and even. But sleep wouldn't come for him. It hadn't come for weeks.
Something is wrong. I can feel it. The new ocean is stirring, reaching out, trying to tell me something.
But what? What does it want?
He rose quietly, careful not to wake Valeria, and walked to the window. The new dimensional ocean pulsed above the city, its light gentle and reassuring. But beneath that light, he could feel it—a subtle shift, a change in the energy patterns.
The conduit. Something is happening to the conduit.
He dressed quickly and left the house, making his way to the city center. The streets were empty at this hour, the buildings dark. But the hum of the dimensional energy was growing louder, more insistent.
I need to check the conduit. I need to make sure everything is stable.
If something goes wrong, the multiverse could be at risk.
He reached the central hub, where the conduit's energy was concentrated. The structure was a shimmering pillar of light, pulsing with the protective energy of the new ocean. But tonight, there was something different about it.
Dark streaks. Like veins of shadow, running through the light.
What is that? What's happening?
He reached out with his senses, trying to understand. And what he found made his blood run cold.
The conduit is being corrupted. Something is reaching through it, trying to break into our world.
Something that shouldn't be here.
"Xen." Kaela's voice came from behind him. "I felt it too. Something is wrong."
He turned to see her approaching, her dark coat billowing in the dimensional wind. Her face was pale, her eyes sharp with concern.
"You felt it?"
"I felt it. The new ocean is changing. Not in a good way." She reached his side, her gaze fixed on the corrupted conduit. "What is that? What's happening?"
"I don't know. But I'm going to find out."

Xen reached out with his power, the diminished power that still pulsed in his veins. He touched the conduit, felt its energy flow through him, and saw what was happening.
There's a tear in the conduit. A small one, but growing. Something is pushing through from the other side.
Something that's using the conduit to enter our world.
Something that I need to stop.
"Kaela, I need you to gather the others. We need to seal this tear before it gets worse."
"Seal it how?"
"I don't know. I'll figure it out when I get there."
She shook her head, a hint of exasperation in her eyes. "You always say that."
"Because it always works." He smiled, a hint of the old fire in his eyes. "Now go. We don't have much time."

The gathered leaders stood in the central hub, staring at the corrupted conduit. The dark streaks had grown, spreading like a disease through the pillar of light.
"What is it?" Captain Vance asked, his voice tight with fear. "What's causing this?"
"The conduit is a bridge between our world and the multiverse," Xen explained. "Something is using that bridge to break through. Something that shouldn't be here."
"Can we stop it?" Valeria asked, her hand on his arm.
"I don't know. But we have to try." He stepped forward, his eyes fixed on the darkness spreading through the light. "Lyra, can you use your anchoring abilities to stabilize the conduit?"
"I can try," she said, her silver eyes glowing with power. "But I need time."
"Time is something we don't have."
[ABILITY ACTIVATED: DIMENSIONAL ANCHORING]
[EFFECT: STABILIZE THE CONDUIT]

Lyra reached out with her power, touching the corrupted conduit. The dark streaks recoiled, then surged forward, fighting her.
"It's fighting back!" she cried, her voice strained. "It's strong!"
"Hold on!" Xen stepped forward, his own power joining hers. "I'm with you!"
The darkness pushed back, fierce and relentless. But Xen and Lyra held firm, their combined will pushing against the corruption.
We can't give up. We can't let this thing through.
The multiverse is counting on us. Our world is counting on us.
We have to win.
The darkness screamed—a sound of pure, malevolent fury—and then it began to recede. The light of the conduit flared brighter, pushing back the shadows.
And then, silence.
Xen collapsed to his knees, gasping for breath. Lyra fell beside him, her face pale, her eyes closed.
"We did it," she whispered, her voice barely audible. "We pushed it back."
"For now." Xen forced himself to his feet, his eyes still fixed on the conduit. "But it's not gone. It's still there, waiting. Watching."
"What was it?" Valeria asked, her voice filled with fear.
"I don't know. But I know one thing: it's coming back. And next time, it might be stronger."
[CONDUIT STATUS: STABILIZED - TEMPORARY]
[CORRUPTION SOURCE: UNKNOWN]
[THREAT LEVEL: EXTREME]
[RECOMMENDATION: INVESTIGATE THE SOURCE]
[RECOMMENDATION: FIND A PERMANENT SOLUTION]
[RECOMMENDATION: PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE]
The meeting that followed was tense and fraught with anxiety.
"We need to find out what that thing is," Kaela said, her voice sharp. "We need to understand what we're dealing with."
"The conduit is connected to the multiverse," Xen said slowly. "Whatever that thing is, it's coming from somewhere out there. Somewhere in the vast reaches of reality."
"Then we need to go out there," Valeria said, her voice firm. "We need to find the source and stop it."
"No." Xen's voice was equally firm. "I can't risk losing anyone else. Not you. Not anyone."
"Xen, we don't have a choice. If we don't stop it now, it will only grow stronger."
He was silent for a long moment, the weight of her words pressing down on him.
She's right. I know she's right. But I can't bear the thought of losing her. Of losing anyone.
I've lost too much already.
But if I don't act, I'll lose everything anyway.
"Fine," he said finally, his voice heavy with resignation. "We'll go. But we go prepared. We go together. And we come back."
"Promise?"
"Promise."

The preparations took days.
Xen, Valeria, Kaela, Lyra, and a small team of the alliance's best fighters gathered at the conduit, ready to enter the multiverse. They were armed with the best weapons available, protected by the strongest dimensional shields.
"Ready?" Xen asked, looking at his team.
"Ready," they said in unison.
He stepped forward, his hand on the conduit's surface.
I don't know what's out there. I don't know what we'll face.
But I know we'll face it together.
And together, we'll win.
He activated the conduit, and the world dissolved into light.
