Chapter 15:
WRZ
"I have had this power for about two weeks now, and I hate that Tasyah knows more about it than I."
Jordan was right. I know Tasyah was associated with a hero. I mean, she was the daughter of a hero, but didn't have any power. I need to investigate her right now.
"No! I said I don't want to talk about Goliath and Dara. They were dead, and I want nothing but to forget about them."
I stopped her from closing her door. "At least, let's talk about your hero power knowledge."
She hesitated. I could see it in her eyes. She sighed and opened her door. "Come in."
She let me in, and she signaled me to sit on the ground. "My bed was stiff as a rock."
"Heh? Yours too?"
"It's been like this. Wiwin and I agreed on it."
"Why does it feel like you guys are keeping a secret from me? Seriously?!"
"We talked about it in meetings, dimwit! It was just that you and Jordan didn't hear it."
What? How...?
Then she mimicked my voice, "Oh, anyway, about this death. About this place. About the president... Sound familiar?"
You didn't need to mock me, you know.
"Now, listen. You want to know about my "power", right?"
"Heh? Didn't you...?"
"I have, but not that kind of power. That's why I said, 'My power was useless. It was like I DON'T HAVE ANY POWER"
... I was dumbfounded.
"Did you even remember why I joined in the first place?"
"... You have the same ambition as us."
"Yeah... and?"
"... There was an and?"
She smacked her head and said, "This is what happens when you treat me like a child. Do you even know my age?"
I didn't.
"I am currently thirty-two. Just five years under you. Don't tell me you even forgot my full name?"
"No! I remember that one."
"What is it?"
"Tasyah Darlings!"
"... Okay, you got a pass for that one."
It's a game now, huh?
"Last one. What are my dad and mom's hero names?"
"Eh..."
"I told you and Jordan at my first meeting."
Shit... I didn't remember.
"My dad's hero name was Big G. My mom's was Cronospecture."
"... Died during a plane crash... and got her mind twisted."
"Yes. My dad died from a meteor from another hero. And my mom died because her mind wasn't powerful enough for her enemy."
I did those files... I remembered Tasyah crying instead of being happy. I was an idiot. I should've known.
"I'm sorry for forcing you to..." I saw her. She cried and covered her face.
"You know... I didn't even know when I would die. When Jordan revealed that a hero could die within three to five years, I was scared. I have lived for more than five years. I have had this power since childhood."
She trembled. She needed comfort.
"No... I don't need your hug."
She stood up and walked toward her big doll. She had that? I have never seen that... Well, I never walk into her room per se. I wouldn't know.
"So..." I was trying to get out to leave her alone, but she pulled me back. I sat down a little too hard, "Ow!"
"Sorry... but you have to know what kind of power I have. You'll need it for your research, wouldn't you?"
Well, she was technically right, but how could I ask it when she wasn't comfortable like that?
"No. I'll wait until you calm down."
"No! I have to, before I cry even more."
... Okay. I nodded.
"My power is Mind Library. You remember what I told you about that power... right?"
"... You carried all the memories... Like a memory card."
"That's right. My dad and mom were two heroes who worked against heroes. While they helped them, they also learned from them. They want me to carry all of those memories and knowledge inside my mind. When I finished remembering it, they would burn all the evidence afterward."
I couldn't believe it! That was the reason she joined us.
"Look... Zeed. I know your intention was pure. Mine and Jordan's were the same. But the difference between us was that I could accept our terms, and he couldn't. I was heated when he betrayed us, but deep down... I wish I were that brave."
...
The silence was damning. She had... the same ambition as Jordan?
"Your eyes are telling me you couldn't trust me anymore, but I can assure you, you can. Didn't I say I agree not to kill the heroes? I can accept it... not Jordan."
Shit!
"Don't tell me you're scared of me now. My power is useless! You don't need to panic! My power is also passive! Unlike Seiza, where her Slimefy makes things inside her stomach, I didn't need to move a muscle to think and choose any memories."
I calmed myself down. "You sure are a very tough woman, Tasyah. I'm sorry, I always see you as a sister."
"No... I like that. I just..."
She unhugged her doll and hugged me instead. "I'm glad I can finally talk about it with you. I wish I could talk about it with Jordan, too, but I was too late."
I rubbed her hair and talked in a soft voice, "You're strong. I'm proud of you. I promise I will be a great leader and help you reach your dream. I won't let the Jordan event happen again. I won't!"
She cried. I felt her tears. She rubbed them against my cloth. She said for a final time, "Thank you... Thank you for trusting me. I promise to be useful too."
I let her cry out. Now, I understand why she never mentioned it again. My reaction was the reason. Thank goodness I am a rational and calm person. I'd say we went through this pretty well.
*Knock* *Knock* *Knock*
"Tasyah, I heard you crying. Are you okay, baby?" That was Wiwin. I never heard Wiwin call Tasyah baby.
"Eh... Win... She's sleeping right now."
Wiwin opened the door slowly and saw us in position. She smiled and said, "She told you, didn't she?"
"I've figured. I knew you probably already knew."
"Maybe... Maybe not", she smiled very happily.
