Chapter 1:
The Day You Loved My Disfiguration We Shared
Hey, did you know that kid is a rapist?"
"Oh yeah, my friend told me all about it last year, right?"
"Yeah... they're talking about
me. Definitely."
My name is Itsuki Asahi. I'm a second-year student at Chitose High. I don't really get along with anyone because of rumors that
spread when I was a first year.
It was about me supposedly raping my ex-girlfriend—pretty immature, if you ask me.
I don't really care about her anymore. She did it because I found out she was cheating, and she didn't want me saying anything about it, so she made that up instead.
To this day, I still don't know why she chose that of everything else.
People also don't like me because of my looks.
They say I look like a creep, or that I'm ugly. And I can't help but agree with them. After all, I'm as ugly on the inside as I am on the outside.
Crazy how much your mental state can change in a year of school, right?
I walk into the classroom and take my seat before class starts. People are already glaring at me. I usually just ignore it. I mean... what else can I do?
As I walk to my seat, people in my path move out of the way like they're scared of me or something.
I take a seat next to the window in the back of the class—the "golden spot."
I have full view of the whole class I hang my bag on the side of my desk, pull out my notebook, and we shortly start working on an assignment.
But my mind is elsewhere...
I'm zoned out, thinking about what life would be if I didn't exist.
Honestly, waking up every day just reminds me that I'm still alive. Though sometimes I wish I wasn't.
A water drop hits the window. I look up and outside—it's storming.
I start my assignment, and after finishing, I look around the room and see a majestic white-haired girl with black eyes. She's very beautiful.
Her name is Shizuku Kasume. She doesn't come to school much. I'm curious why. She doesn't speak either. Kind of shocking, really—usually someone like her would be friends with the whole school.
Hmph.
It's now time to go home.
I usually listen to music with my headphones while I walk, but it's raining and I don't want them to
get damaged.
My family doesn't have much. I live with my grandma and grandpa, my uncle, and my two little siblings. My mother is a single parent trying to find a job right now, but it's just rough to get by.
So any gift I get from my family, I treasure.
I let my little siblings share my umbrella today while we walk home, so I have to wait for the rain to slow down.
As I was about to sit down, I hear commotion—like a fight or something. I stand up and walk toward the noise. It's coming from the side of the school.
I don't really care what's going on, until I hear a thump.
I stop.
I decide to walk down the hallway and open the door to the school's garden. The garden's been untouched lately due to a lack of members, so kids use this area for smoking from what I've seen...
But this time was different.
This moment and on, my life is gonna change forever.
