Chapter 18:
WRZ
We finally got our RV, but now we have another problem.
"Harold, why have you not started the engine yet?" I asked him while in a panic.
"... I need to know... Are RVs and regular cars required to have different driver's licences? I hate to break it to you, but we're still in functional city. We aren't in some apocalypse-esque world."
He was right, but...
"You didn't ask your friend about it?"
"He's the car salesman. He gave us this RV with his paycheck. He doesn't have a driver's licence for an RV this big."
Yup, we were fucked.
"Yo! You asked for an RV driver's licence?" Tasyah responded.
"Yeah", Harold and I answered.
"You want me to drive?" Tasyah... had driven an RV.
I think she saw my face; she immediately answered it, "My dad and mom once asked me to have all the licenses that a human can possibly have. I even have a pilot's certificate."
Now, I felt terrified. She had all the licenses that a human could possibly have?! What kind of past does Tasyah have?
She read me again, "We'll spend the next, who knows what, doing storytelling with each other. You better hear it this time!"
"Right... Of course."
When Harold gave the seat to Tasyah, I couldn't help but chuckle. She didn't have the right height to drive. Harold tapped me and gave me the "Do you want her to hate you?" face, so I quickly apologized to Tasyah.
"Save your apology and help me! Can you make it so I can see the front and hit gas?"
"I..."
Without hesitation, Seiza got up into the driver's seat.
"I can look it up. It may take a little while to adjust this seat."
You know, sometimes I should just shut my mouth. "You can?" It didn't even register to me that...
"Huh? What do you mean by that? I'm an engineer. I MADE you that radio thingy!" Seiza could do that the whole time.
"... Oh right... I forgot."
... Yeah, she was different outside, but not on the inside. You idiot.
"HOW?? We have lived together for eight years now. That's soooo mean!"
"Your attitude towards me has changed. I forgot I was talking with the SEIZA. I'm sorry."
Tasyah even made a joke, "See! I told you to save the apology."
... I wanted to cry. I'm a leader— an incompetent one, that is. How the heck did I forget my comrade's one and only talent?
Tasyah brought me back to reality, "Hey, stop daydreaming and be more productive. Come on! While we wait for Seiza, let's catch up with others."
Harold asked, "Do we need to?"
"Well, our boss, over here, is clueless about us. Do you think he is worth being our leader after knowing that fact?"
Harold looked at me... I looked at him...
"Honestly... He doesn't even look like a leader."
"DUDE! You gave me the confidence to be a leader!"
"Well, yeah. You have the quality. You just don't have the look. I'm being honest."
That was one of the biggest roasts of my life. How could they just tell me that I looked bad?
... HEY, I'll have you know that I looked great whenever I had a shower! We were in a hurry. I couldn't have a decent look because of that!
What did you mean by "Sure"? Stop breaking the fourth wall!
While we were walking toward the back, we saw Wiwin already getting the beds ready. Did she... bring an extra bed? How did she...?
"Oh... this? This was a foldable emergency bed. I stored it in the under-stairs cupboard."
... I really needed to stop giving away my curiosity this easily. I couldn't even be normal with my own friend. I should have taken the cultivation study or something.
"So, how's the arrangement?" Asked Tasyah.
Wiwin stood up and pointed at each bed, "Okay, because the boys never had any stiff bed, you two should sleep on the actual RV bunker bed. This extra bed is for Seiza."
Tasyah cut Wiwin's explanation, "So... we sleep on the couch?"
"Correct, my friend!"
What...? But that was just wrong! I should be on the couch.
Tasyah didn't even look at me; she knew what I was thinking, "Don't be a gentleman, now. Do you know how hard the couch of this RV is?"
"Ehh... no."
"Yeah, me neither. If you sleep there and your body isn't ready, you'll get a bodyache the next morning. So, just be yourself and have the nice bed."
I was about to argue against that, but Harold stopped me, "No point in arguing. She was right."
As much as I wanted them to have the nice beds, they were right. I didn't have anything good to argue. I felt useless.
"Hey, the seat has been customized."
"Wow, that was fast." She was surprising me too, Tasyah.
"Yeah... about that. I think that was Jordan's seed at work."
I got even more surprised, "What? I thought Popo had the seed."
Tasyah explained, "Popo is still a part of Seiza, you dumb-dumb."
Oh... yeah. Right.
"Well, looks like the storytelling has to wait. I got RV, I need to drive."
Tasyah tagged in with Seiza, and they switched places. Seiza smiled and said, "It felt so good to do engineering again. Especially benefiting us to get away from evil!"
She was really changing. She didn't use to celebrate her success. This was the first time I saw her excited about doing something good. I couldn't help patting her head.
"Nice job, Seiza. You did well."
She turned red, and Popo turned into a penguin. I smiled and teased her, "Oh, I didn't know you liked a pat."
"Shut up!"
Suddenly, we heard Madam Hexes, "You need to move now, boy... They are coming... with hordes..."
I asked, "Are you really going to help us?"
"... My main goal is to help those who need it. Nothing else."
"Was that genuine?"
"I don't know... but I just feel... that was my life purpose..."
"Your... life purpose?"
"This is the reason... I was made... To stop this broken system and save people... That was why... I'm here..."
