Chapter 20:

Jordan's Worldview

WRZ

{Right after Jordan got kicked out}

Huh...? That was an unpleasant surprise. I wasn't sure if this was a good thing. On the one hand, I could go straight to the hero facility and doom them one by one. On the other hand... I don't have a backup.

That was a major trade-off. I didn't expect to get kicked out that easily. Now the question, where should I sleep tonight...

Oh... What's this? I drove to a place that I hadn't seen for a while. A hero facility, huh? Quite fancy. i might circle this place to find more about it.

... And might as well tell Zeed about this.

{A day after Jordan called Zeed for the second time}

Place to sleep...
What should I do now? I'm so lost.

... Should I crash in that place?
I mean, she was there, right? She trusted me; I trusted her. And the sisters there were always welcoming me. They were nice people... right?

...

It has been two days since I left the apartment. I ended up sleeping in an alley with some hobo. I didn't mind. In fact, I like being like this! I didn't feel obligated; I chose to be here. It was just right outside the place where she lived. I could keep an eye on her...

Hmm...? What's this? Who was that?

I saw her...
A hero...
Suspicious...

I followed her in my car. Tailing a hero... I never thought I'd be here. This felt like real progress. See this, Zeed? This is how it's done. Unlike the 'detective' work you did. We got nowhere for ten years. It was a trash system, and I'm lucky to be here now.

...

Huh...?
Would you look at that? She worked on the new facility; how convenient. I left my car and covered it with some of my aura. I remember Tasyah said that if I had the will to think there was no car on the street, the car would turn invisible. It was a pretty insane ability— like seriously!

Aura Intensity is one of the most broken abilities on the planet. It's the main power from many different sources. Polyorginate, a power to turn any plant into a herb, Urk Stomach, a power to turn everything that we eat into a powerful fart and barf, and even Slimefy. Yeah, those powers were the sub-abilities of Aura Intensity— the guts-related power, if you prefer.

I'm very lucky to have gotten this. I could kill a hero very easily.

"Yeah, sure! Thanks for the intel. I appreciate it!"

They talked about the next step for this facility. It was something along the lines of a gathered artificial power-user. That meant me. I'm their target...
What should I do to...?

"Hey, why is this device beeping? Didn't they say this device wouldn't track me?"

That was my cue, huh?

"Huh? Hey! What the...? Uagggh....! My... lungs...."

I stepped forward and introduced myself, "The name... Seinien. Who are you?"
Using my Aura inside of her, she responded, "LaserEye."
I could feel it. She was strong. She tried to reject my seed. I'm sorry your power is not guts-related; I'm outmatching you!

...

Not too long after that, she died. Well, technically still breathing. It's just that her life depends on me. This is the lead that I needed, though. I had a puppet. I could use her more often now. The disadvantage was that I couldn't focus my aura on Zeed.

"Hey, act like your normal self, but while with me, be my underling."
She stood. She stared. And she replied, "Yes... Okay..."
"Go back in there and give me more info about the facility."

...

Eight hours passed. I got what I needed.

"What's the next step, Master?"
"I don't need you anymore. You're an evident in my crime scene."

Within a second, she collapsed. I could feel her heart stop beating. I enjoyed this power way too much! It gave me joy.

"Ah... right. Zeed would probably want to know that a hero died. Might as well call him.

...

Another week passed, and I was at work now. I got a call from Mrs. Drez. I wondered why she looked so pissed.

"Listen, you monkeys! I heard a hero just died a couple of days ago, and some of us need to attend her funeral. Who is willing to go?"

Ahh... these. Usually, these people, the heroes I meant, wouldn't even want to go. No wonder Mrs. Drez was pissed. She had to get us, the "lower ones", to attend it.

"YOU! I don't like your look! You'll be attending the funeral."

You see, this was like a tradition— A code of respect, if you will. This happened because of the World Dawn. As a sign of respect for another hero, the "lower ones" of the heroes need to attend as if the heroes themself tend the funeral. Wild concept, if I say so myself.

"YOU! I know you! You'll be attending the funeral!"

It seemed Mrs. Drez pointed at some of the people who never went to a hero's funeral. Lucky me...!

"HEY, JORDAN! Come here, you idiot!"

Spoke too soon.

"Yes, Mrs. Drez. What is it?"
"Drezias! It's Drezias!"
"Come on, ma'am. I've been here for thirteen years as your 'lower ones'. We are technically siblings."

She wasn't pissed. I knew that! She changed bit by bit. I liked that.

"Go with them! You know the drill, so I leave it up to you."
"But... Wasn't it on Sunday? I need to..."
"Then bring her with you! You idiot."
"... right."
"Ask Human-Made to pack the house into a car. Don't disappoint me!"

Well, shit.

{Right after Jordan, Zeed, Narmi, and Harold connected via Popo}

"Welp, that was a call. How was it, Narmi? Are you okay back there?"
"I'm okay, Uncle! Just a little bit of shock from that thing."
"Yeah, me too."
"Who were they anyway?"
"Zeed? Ah, he... he is my acquaintance."
"Then how about the other two?"
"Seiza and Tasyah? They were... also... acquaintances."

This Seiza's bluetooth monster bullshit pissed me off. Now, I needed to explain something that I shouldn't be telling her. I'm driving a car, damn it! Not just a car, even! A CAR MADE OUT OF HOUSE! If this car crashed, I'm done! Narmi wouldn't have a house to live in, and it's all your fault, Zeed.
