Tanimaki Enters a Bread-Baking Contest (Part 4)

“I think it’s about time we renovated the shop, too,” Coco said, having calmed down a little.

“Coco’s right, meow. You’d sell more bread if you changed the wallpaper.”

Tanimaki was thoroughly fed up with the siblings’ argument, so he casually took Coco’s side in an attempt to settle things down.

“Hmm…”

Chocomaru sank into thought. He only needed one more push.

“Coco said earlier that discrimination was the reason she couldn’t win, right?” Debiru said, making a new suggestion. “Why don’t we find out whether that’s really true?”

“How?” Chocomaru asked, showing interest.

“I’ll use my magic to switch Coco’s soul with Tanimaki’s. Then she can enter the contest in his body. If she still can’t win… that would mean the problem is her skill, wouldn’t it?”

It was a clever idea on Debiru’s part. After all, Chocomaru surely wanted to prove that Coco’s own ability was the reason she had never won before.

“Very well. This should finally make her realize the limits of her talent.”

At last, Chocomaru agreed to let Coco enter.

“Hold it, meow! Why does someone completely unrelated like me have to swap bodies with Coco?!”

Tanimaki immediately objected.

“You can’t cook at all, can you, Tanimaki? Why not use this opportunity to learn how to bake bread?”

That was what Debiru said aloud. In truth, however, he wanted to teach the selfish Tanimaki a little lesson.

“What are you talking about, meow?! I don’t wanna bake bread—”

“Debiru Exchange!”

Tanimaki tried to protest, but Debiru cast the spell on him without warning.

In an instant, Tanimaki’s and Coco’s souls switched places.
