Chapter 0:
Athir: Divine Fragment
28 December 2025
No one knew it at the time, but this was the night humanity began its journey toward extinction.
It started with something so ordinary that most people didn't notice at first.
The stars were gone.
Not hidden behind clouds. Not dimmed by pollution. They had simply... vanished.
Across every nation, people looked up in disbelief. The night sky, once filled with countless stars, had become an endless sea of darkness. Only the Moon and the faint glow of the Milky Way remained.
Within minutes, panic spread across the world.
News channels interrupted every broadcast. Social media exploded with fear and confusion. People rushed outside, hoping their eyes were deceiving them.
They weren't.
Observatories, space agencies, and research centers declared a global emergency. Scientists worked without rest, searching for an explanation.
Was it an unknown astronomical phenomenon? A cosmic anomaly? A failure of Earth's atmosphere?
Every telescope pointed toward the heavens. Every satellite returned the same impossible image.
Nothing.
For the first time in human history, science had no answer.
That night, billions of people went to sleep with fear in their hearts. Some prayed. Others cried. Many believed it was the end of the world, while the rest convinced themselves everything would return to normal by morning.
They were wrong.
29 December 2025
The Sun rose as it always had.
Golden light spread across the Earth.
Children went to school.
Parents returned to work.
Traffic filled the streets once again.
For a brief moment, humanity believed the nightmare had passed.
People smiled.
People laughed.
Life continued...
As if nothing had happened.
No one realized the disappearance of the stars was never the disaster.
It was only the warning.
The true beginning of the end...
Had not yet arrived.
