Chapter 10:
Zayobi: Chronicles of the Daybreak War
She remained on the ground for nearly a minute before rising.
“I almost filled my heart with strawberries and that cute Agmon. I stopped believing I’d have a Divine Creation to call my own.”
She erupted into laughter that would’ve surely echoed had she not been in this space.
Right…
She smiled to herself.
I must use the Index of Creations to figure out what it is.
“So could this be akin to Dream’s inner mind realm?”
I seriously hope this isn’t some level three Creation where its sole ability is a safety mechanism to transport me here whenever I’m near death. Wait, was I actually near death and that’s why it awakened?
She caressed her chin as she walked around.
That’s superbly useful for a queen or any royal. Nonetheless, I shouldn’t have actually been close to losing my life as the destruction of an object a Flame Soul resides in should usually force them out of it. The unique cases are when something gets the Flame Soul stuck inside.
“I have a Divine Creation now, I have no idea how it works, and I am not sure how I awakened it…”
Let me out!
“Deactivate! Disable the foundations! Return me!”
She then focused to speak inside her mind the same commends she voiced.
To no avail.
A Creation is fully controlled by the one who owns it, yet I still had to try.
“Okay, back to you.” She spoke to her chakram after picking it up.
“Use all of your power, break apart if needed. I would’ve squeezed out Kamiko’s Energy from you had it could help me.”
She sat down on the transparent glowing floor, and began hitting it.
Come on! Get me out! I have strawberries and more to investigate about Agmon!
At that, the chakram lit up.
“Wait I didn’t mean to break you without first succeeding!”
The light wasn’t of the red of the metal, however.
A dazzling ocean-blue covered the chakram.
What now?! Did it absorb the blue knight’s power by getting hit twice by his sword?
Before she could come up with more theories, the princess found herself in another new location.
Still sitting, Zayobi could notice a clear change without looking around. It contrasted the material of the place she was stuck in before so much that her sense of touch overloaded all others.
I’m sitting on something comfy… a bed?
It took her two seconds to allow the information from her eyes to enter her mind.
She sat atop a bed inside what was reminiscent of her own room.
The most drastic difference other than the placement of furniture, or small details about the size, were the colors. One needed only a single glance to notice the lack of red and a bountiful of aquamarine.
“Just where am I now then…?”
Before she could stand up, something slithered against her thigh.
Yet nothing about it was uncomfortable.
“Is that a…?
She then saw…
“What!? Agmon!?”
Sitting on the bed close enough for their shoulders to nearly touch, the blue-haired boy with the ears and tail of a wolf stared at her.
His face looked as if he chocked on the air itself.
He leaped out of the bed. “Are you invading us?!”
“Why would I?! Did you forget how weak I am?!” Zayobi stood up as well.
Just what is my Creation? I appeared inside a room beyond the Hallowed Forest, exactly next to…
Seeing Agmon’s face turn from worried to frightened by her roar, Zayobi raised both palms at shoulder length: “I’m as confused as you… Let me try to explain.”
***
“I can promise you I wasn’t told of anything close to a ground invasion.” Said Agmon. “But before we get to your Divine Creation, can you fix your clothes please?”
“Alright.”
The two had sat back on the bed.
I am the one responsible for all this exposure. Guess he prefers to be the one who caused it instead of staring at my mistake.
Zayobi traced her chest with a finger, and the blazer connected back together as it glowed.
“So, your Creation brought you to my bed?”
“Yup, the chakram turned blue and I found myself here.”
She raised the round blade, which returned to the dark red metal.
Maybe it still has a bit of...?
“It has to be a level five Creation then? I never heard of Flame Souls teleporting, and such a distance too…” Agmon spoke as he eyed the weapon.
“Hey, hold it and sense if you can feel the Energy you poured into it.” She handed him the blade.
He held the metal for a few moments, before the ocean-blue aura appeared again.
Then why did it glow then? Could I have been teleported to the source?
“Oh, thanks.” She said as he handed it back. “So when I desired to leave, my Creation sensed the Energy in the chakram and traced the source?”
“Then how do you return to that place?”
“Eh…” She gave him a stare tinted with disappointment. “Good question. I tried to break out of it at first, I doubt I can break in too...”
Wait, when I tried to destroy the floor…
“Agmon.” She muttered.
“Yes?”
“You’re the answer, well, part of it.”
She stood up and pointed at him.
“I thought of the strawberries and how I wanted to investigate you more, and then it began to glow!”
“...Why would you need to investigate me? I mean, I would guess Ashraha had already uncovered enough information about me.”
“Ah, that’s just romance, not politics. Ignore that for a moment.” She waved her hand, her face proud of speaking the word “romance.”
“So my theory is that if it can sense Spiritual Energy, that realm can take me to the source.”
It’s made of Kamiko’s, so hopefully I can return with that…
“I’ll try it, so just sit timidly like you’re doing now and if I don’t return in the next hour you can check my theory as correct.” She radiated something beyond pride and bravery.
“Should I be saying ‘safe journey?’”
“Absolutely!” She beamed.
“Now then.” Zayobi held out the chakram. “Take me to Kamiko!”
Like in their first parting, Zayobi left too fast to hear Agmon’s words.
After going back to the realm, upon exit, she opened her eyes to a cobblestone road, surrounded by buildings. Guards came and went, some approaching others to speak momentarily before leaving, some running aimlessly.
What lay directly at the center of her vision was…
A tall soldier wearing a bright blue suit of armor, holding the helmet to their side.
In contrast, Zayobi could see from the back long dark-red hair.
“Kamiko?”
The figure turned around.
“No way!” She shouted.
“Not only did you escape, you sneaked up on me while I’m surrounded by tens of soldiers?” The astonishment transformed into a grin.
Yet Zayobi was as stiff as the solid metal covering her sister’s body.
“Excuse me?”
“Oh, well, the drill couldn’t have worked if we had told you ahead of time.”
Kamiko stepped forward, meanwhile the soldiers began dropping to the ground in relief.
“You did pass beyond expectations though, I never would’ve guessed you’d use the chakram for escaping, and only someone who has a Creation like Form could notice your presence inside armor while the whole room is on fire.”
“Sis, so the reason my breakfast was ruined…”
“We planned in advance to have another made for around this time, don’t worry.” Her grin didn’t fade.
“Everyone who wasn’t present had roles to play, Sgura is the only one who didn’t wear armor and patrol the castle after the drill began. Her sensory perception is above Hedyla, so she was assigned to tell us of your location before it began in case you wouldn’t be at breakfast.”
“Normally I should’ve been surprised just from you thinking I’d miss breakfast…”
Okay, so they tried to give me the experience of the castle being invaded to see how I’d act. I guess the assassins from yesterday are below me now.
“So I passed, as I avoided mom, dad, and Hedyla who searched for me throughout the castle, escaped you, and lurked between the many soldiers here in the castle town to sneak up on you?”
“Obviously! Whatever Spiritual Art you utilized while inside the chakram, and in such a reflex too, was no doubt extraordinary. The soldiers couldn’t find any sign of you, though it would make sense being inside an object made by Form allowed you to hide your presence from Sgura.”
If the chakram was in Sgura’s or Hedyla’s proximity they would’ve sensed it as your Energy, sis… I suppose my high score made her forget some logic.
“It took a bit to restore the lower floors, though breakfast would’ve been served in the garden had they not finished repairing the solar.” Her blue armor melted into the air. “Let’s go!”
“...Yeah”
I got to keep my Creation a secret for now, I dare not grab onto more weight for my weekly routine.
Zayobi walked a few steps behind Kamiko and slightly pulled her attire from the neck.
She stepped in place at what she saw.
Why is it…
The awareness of her surroundings returned after a split second as she picked up the pace.
...Blank again?
Her core was transparent.
