Chapter 1:
Lyra
Somewhere in the desert, a team of archaeologists from University P was investigating a mysterious pyramid that had never appeared in any historical record. The 30-member team is led by an archaeology professor named Professor Peter. As one of the team members, I’ve been working at this site for a month now. I just want to go home.
“Anton, it looks like we’re going to be here for a while. Didn’t you tell your girlfriend?” Alex asked.
“We broke up before we started this research,” I replied.
“How come?” he asked.
“She liked another guy—that’s why,” I replied.
“I’m sorry to hear that”
“It’s fine” I replied.
Suddenly, loud cheers echoed from deep inside the pyramid.
"Professor! You need to see this!" Ruth called Professor
I saw Professor Peter go inside the pyramid, I followed him.
As soon as I entered the pyramid, I saw reliefs depicting the people and monsters.
Warriors fought creatures with wings and other creatures with short and big stature.
Another carving showed humans standing beside people with long ears, while short, stout figures forged weapons beneath a mountain.
At the center of the chamber stood a statue of a woman.
The statue was about the height of an adult human.
She wore an ancient garment.
Around her neck hung a stone necklace with a hexagonal socket at its center.
There wasn't a single crack in this statue.
Ruth then showed the inscription to Professor Peter.
Professor Peter studied the inscription carefully.
“Hmm… I’ve never seen this kind of writing before.” Professor Peter muttered.
“Professor, along with inscription we found this.” Ruth carefully handed over gem like object.
Professor then examined the gem like object.
“Hmm, there are unknown writings even on this gem.” Professor Peter muttered.
Then I stepped forward toward the professor.
“May I take a look, Professor?”
“Use the gloves, examine it carefully,”
After I examined it carefully,
I froze
“…Impossible.”
“What is it?” Professor asked me.
“I know this writing and it said ‘Protection of Lyra’” I answered.
Everyone stared at me.
“How did you know the writings?” Professor asked me.
"My grandfather taught it to my father. My father taught it to me. They always said it was our family tradition, but none of us knew where it came from."
“Can you take a look the inscription then?”
“Yes, Professor.”
Professor showed the inscription to me, and I read it carefully.
“The top part of the inscription reads ‘return the gem to Goddess Lyra’. ” I explained the inscription to them.
But the middle and bottom parts were covered in sand, so I cleaned them off first.
After I finished cleaning them, I continued reading the rest.
“And the sleeping gate shall awaken.
Beware the darkness that lies beyond.”
The professor and the others were stunned by my explanation.
“…What does ‘return the gem to Goddess Lyra’ mean?” Professor muttered to himself.
Ruth then looked at the statue.
“Professor... look at the statue. The necklace... doesn't that socket match the gem?
Then we went straight to the statue of Goddess Lyra, and sure enough, this gem fit into the necklace’s socket.
“Anton, try to insert the gem into necklace’s socket” Professor ordered me.
Then I stepped forward and placed the gem into the necklace’s socket.
…
Suddenly, the statue of the goddess Lyra began to glow.
The floor formed a circle with letters I recognized.
Everyone panicked and tried to run away
“Professor, we must leave now.”
“Yeah, Anton.”
As soon as we tried to leave the circle, for some reason it felt like there was a barrier.
Then the light from the statue of the goddess Lyra shone very brightly.
…
The blinding light slowly faded.
Collapsing wall
Crumbling pillars around us.
A collapsed roof revealing a light blue sky.
Where is this?
Creatures with dark armor and weapons surrounding us.
“These creatures are depicted in relief,” Ruth muttered.
Then one of them was approaching us.
“Sap reh yo, mi en Lyra?” It pointed its sword toward us.
I froze.
"...I understand him."
Everyone turned toward me.
"He asked... 'Who are you? Are you minions of Lyra?'"
“Can you reply him that we were trapped in pyramid and moved in here?” Professor whispered.
“I’ll try.”
“Eh reh notoh mih en Lyra, eh reh tah Lyra en kuiloh, sotoh eh reh tah moyeh keh ( We aren’t minions of Lyra, We were at temple of Lyra then we moved here).”
It looked surprised and those creatures were looking to each other.
“…Yoh reh notoh mih en Lyrah, payoh Lyran konowoh, KAP MEREH!!!,”
Every creature immediately raised its weapon.
They formed a circle around us.
“What did it say?” Professor whispered.
"It asked why I could speak the Lyran language even though I wasn't one of Lyra's followers... Then It ordered the others to capture us."
“Well, We realized that without translation.” Alex said.
BOOM.
Then suddenly there was the sound of an explosion.
And smoke began to rise after the explosion.
“Cough, cough… What’s happening?” I asked as smoke disturbed my vision.
Suddenly someone grabbed my hand and said
“Sepa ge gini !” She pulled my hand.
Sepa…
If I remembered it right.
“Cought, cough… come? Are you telling me to come?" I replied.
Why does it sound a little off when she says “sepa” instead of the usual “sepah”?
I followed this woman and ran as fast as I could.
I didn't even know whether Professor Peter and the others were still alive.
All I could do was keep running.
After we ran for a while.
“Looks like we are safe.”
Then this woman with assassin like outfit approached me .
She was slender, with twin daggers hanging at her waist.
“Sap re yo, payo yo ti Lyra en kuilo?” She asked me.
“You asked me why I was in the temple, it’s gonna be long.” I answered.
Then I explained with my broken Lyra language.
“Neh mah tah Lyrah en kuiloh, sotoh Neh mah tah moyeh keh ( I was at temple of Lyra and I was moved here).”
“Neh mah? Ju ma suda mala fom huma tha wor.”
I frowned.
“A word that’s never used anymore?”
She stopped me before I asked any further
“In pora baha, e re iku ge bas.”
“Baha means dangerous, yeah right now is dangerous, where are we going?” I asked.
She didn't answer me but pulled my arm—where was she taking me ?
We walked a very long way past forest until we reached our destination.
Then she extended both her hands toward the cave.
A circle emerged from her hands, just as it had at the temple.
“Peno Kael.”
Then the stone door opened.
We went inside.
“Tutu Kael.”
Stone door closed.
As soon as the stone door closed, we were enveloped in the darkness of the cave.
“I think we need a light.”
Just as I said that, she had already raised her hand toward the cave ceiling.
A magic circle appeared in her hand.
“Cahasur”
As soon as she cast the spell, light began to shine from her hand.
At first, the light was small.
Slowly, it expanded.
Finally, the entire cave was bathed in light.
“Sepa.”
We walked through a very deep cave, full of twists and turns, until we finally reached a dead end.
“Peno Kael.” She pointed her hand at the cave wall as she recited the spell.
As soon as the stone door opened, a blinding light flooded into the cave.
My eyes adjusted to the surroundings, and I saw a vast green plain.
“It kava si raha jala ge ruo bas” she said as she pointed toward the endless plain beyond the cave.
Raha…? jala…? secret path…?
Ruo bas…? Our base…?
We kept moving across the vast plain until a fortress emerged on the horizon.
I stopped walking.
"...No way."
The fortress was enormous.
Its massive stone walls stretched so far that I couldn't even see where they ended.
Several stone-throwers or catapult were mounted on top of the fortress walls, aimed at the open plain.
Every few meters stood watchtowers watching the plains.
Between them stood giant ballistas.
Hundreds of archers patrolled the walls with arrows already loaded.
This wasn't just a fortress.
It was a city built for war.
As we approached the fortress, we saw the line heading into fortress.
The line heading into fortress was very long.
Just as I was about to join the line, she stopped me.
“E re noto sera.” she answered.
We don’t need to queue?
Who’s this woman?
On my way to the gate, I saw several people.
Some looked just like humans.
Others had long pointed ears.
Some barely reached my chest
Just as depicted in the pyramid reliefs.
When we arrived at the gate, the gatekeeper saw Naeris.
He immediately let us into the fortress.
We entered the fortress, and this is what I saw.
Buildings lined up neatly.
I didn't remember most of the words, but what I do know is that these buildings are stores
Every sign ended with the same word.
"...Koto."
If I remembered correctly...
It meant "store."
She noticed me staring at the signboards.
"...Selata kael."
She pointed toward the gate behind us.
Then toward the rows of shops.
"...Kotoro."
South...
Store...
So...
This was the South gate.
That means South Gate is where residents make a living by running businesses.
Merchants shouted from their stalls.
Blacksmiths hammered steel.
A restaurant server who invited customers to come in.
Children ran between the crowded streets.
Several knights were patroling the road
Humans, long-eared people, and short people walked side by side as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
She continued her explanation as we walked.
“In kato rua tia vela. Vela usa si pasa, warvil hobau, teimu kael, beira kael huo selata kael, vela du si varek baser huo varek labition, vela tia si arka.” she answered.
First level is market, civilian housing and gates … second level is army barrack and army training… and third I don’t’know that word.”
“E re iku ge arka, ju den repor ge lides”
Repor ge lides? Report to whom ?
Then we kept walking until we reached the second gate.
This second gate lead to the barracks and the training area, according to what this woman said.
After checking in with the gate guard, we were allowed to enter.
Then she suddenly turned toward me.
“Nema si wata?” she asked.
Nema? She must be asking for my name.
“Nemah sih Anton.” I introduced myself.
“Nema si Naeris.” She introduced herself.
So her name is Naeris.
When I reached out my hand to shake her.
She looked confused.
Then I demonstrated a handshake, and only then did she understand.
Her hand held mine.
Her hand felt soft and warm.
Clearly, this wasn’t a dream.
“Ruah reh banyah humaroh.”
I told her that there were many humans in here.
“Humaro? Semu re noto humaro.”
She was confused then told me that those weren’t human.
“Rua re Huma, Laren huo Brekur.” She answered.
Huma must be human, what about the other two.
“So, Laren huo Brekur re wata?” I asked her
She pointed to long ear human and said “Laren”
Then she pointed her finger to short stature human and said “Brekur”
So the long-eared people were called Laren, while the short-statured people were known as Brekur.
As soon as we went inside, we were shown…
The archers took turns shooting at the target.
Nearby, cavalry rode strange horned horses, charging across the training field.
Spearmen practiced thrusts in perfect unison, their voices echoing across the fortress.
“Yamar si mora yera Dimos, rekal hauptako.”
Rekal hauptako, reclaim the capital?
Those two words echoed in my mind.
If they needed to reclaim it...
Then the capital had already fallen.
‘Dimos’ must be armored creatures we found in that ruin.
Then we proceeded to the next gate.
The next gate leads to the lides
It seems lides is important person in this fortress
We arrived at a magnificent building.
The building was guarded by dozens of fully armed knights.
Before we went in, Naeris spoke with one of the knights.
Then, shortly afterward, we were allowed to go inside.
It already looked magnificent from the outside, but the interior was even more magnificent.
The pillars supporting this building are beautifully carved.
And the carvings on the ceiling are absolutely stunning.
There was statue of goddess Lyra in the front hall.
There was also a painting.
When I glanced at the painting, it looked like a war between the Huma, Laren, and Brekur races and the Dimos.
The figure behind huma, Laren and brekur must be Lyra but who was the figure behind Dimos ?
We continued our walk to lides’s room.
There were many rooms in this building.
Each room is guarded by a knight.
Then we arrived at our destination.
Knight opened the door for us.
We entered the leaders’ room.
Inside this room, there were 15 people sitting at a large round table.
On the left sat the representatives of the Brekur.
On the right sat the representatives of Huma.
At the center sat the representatives of the Laren.
As soon as we entered, Naeris took off her hood.
And what stunned me was that Naeris was Laren.
She immediately bowed to the liders.
I also followed Naeris as she bowed to the liders.
Then one of Laren’s representatives spoke up.
“Valera, Naeris. Diete Lyra shen yo. ju konowo yo re fede, hauptako si wo, soa tora si dar ?
Valera… welcome.
Lyra shen yo … goddess Lyra bless you,
Tora si dar means who’s this person.
He welcomed Naeris, wishing her the Goddess’s blessing, before demanding to know who I was and the current state of the fallen capital.”
“Rua re Dimosro ti hauptako, ju fon ta in tora ti kuilo en hauptako.” she told them
She explained that there were armored creatures or Dimosro .perhaps 'demons' suited them better... and she told them that I was in temple.
“Huma, sap re yo?”
Then I introduced myself
“Neh mah Anton.”
“Neh mah?”
Then all of them were whispering to each other.
Even Naeris was surprised when I introduced myself with ‘neh’
Has it been lost for a long time?
“Anton, re yo prisa?”
Prisa? Maybe it’s prisah, I’m not priest.
I have to explain that I’m archaeologist but what’s the word in Lyran for achaelogist.
Also, I need to explain that those Dimos already captured Professor Peter and the others, I need to rescue them.
“Neh mah noto prisa.”I replied.
I said to him that I’m not priest.
“Payo konowo prisa en baling, Dimos soa gunden it.” He replied.
…
I frowned.
“Eh?”
Pronunciation I learned from my father was priest’s pronunciation?
“neh mah tah ti Lyrah en kuiloh, neh mah tah putoh gein geh Lyrah en patun, neh mah tah moyeh geh ginih, Dimos keben tah neh, laen Naeris tolem neh.” I explained from beginning how I got here with Professor Peter and the others, and how Naeris rescued me.
The highest lides stood up.
Naeris turned to look as well.
The room fell silent.
One of the lidesro spoke softly.
“Impolech…”
Then other lides spoke
“Suda mala e re noto anura baling.”
Anura baling? ancient pronunciation?
Highest lides who came from Laren called his subordinate then whispered something to her.
…
Then she brought thick book and gave it to highest lides
Highest lides was reading it for a while then he seemed surprised.
He set his eyes toward me and spoke
“Yo daten ta fom reto duni.”
Everyone incuding Naeris was surprised.
Naeris glanced at me.
He knew that I came from other world.
“Barem in casta, e huma, Laren huo Brekur vale ta fom yo duni, taber Diete Lyra moye ta su ge ke, Dimos soa.” He explained.
Barem in casta... I knew that word meant "Based on note"
Fom yo duni... "from your world"...
Then... they came from Earth?
“Dimos causac ta it wor algan desto, taber Diete Lyra moye ta su ge ke.” He continued.
Causac… “caused”…
Algan desto… “almost destroyed”
Goddess Lyra also moved Dimos to this world for their part of almost destroying the world.
“Pat sa yo dun koyou?”
“He asked what I would do now.”
I will save everyone from Dimos in capital and return back to earth.
“Neh sah sayen tundroh, neh sah ketour ge neh duni.”
“I told him that I would save my friends and return to Earth.”
“Har yoh heruf neh?”
I looked around at everyone, asking for help to save the professor and the others
They were whispering to each other.
Some even showed a rejection.
Highest lides then opened his mouth.
“E har not sayen yo tundro”
They nodded.
“E har not sacofe pasupes.”
They rejected my plea.
I can’t give any good reasons to ask for help.
It totally makes sense that they can’t deploy troops for us.
We are strangers in this world.
But I won’t give up easily.
I will return to that capital all by myself.
Save everyone and return to earth.
“Karesah, Lidesro, neh sa sayen neh tundra.”
One of lidesro said “yo re iliran.”
He said I’m insane.
I might be insane right now
But that’s the only way to save everyone and return home.
Then I left the room.
Just as I was leaving this building and heading toward the gate, Naeris called out to me.
“Anton, mandre” She called me.
Naeris told me to wait.
“Har neh heruf yoh?” I asked.
She exhaled then opened her mouth.
“Ju sa heruf yo.” she replied.
She wanted to help me?
“Ju konowo raha jala ti hauptako.”
She said she knew secret path in capital.
That’s great news.
But if she came with me, she might die.
“Taber yo har deben, Naeris.” I told her.
There’s no way I can put her in danger for my sake.
She smiled.
“Dimosro kiper ta ju kemilie, ju har noto lier yo tundra deben, ju sa sayen yo tundra.” she said
Dimos murdered her family so she wouldn’t see another ones die in front of her.
“Karesah, Naeris.”
“Diete Lyra sa heruf tus.”
May Goddess Lyra will help us?
I used to not believe in god or anything
After I experienced these
Maybe I need to believe in gods.
“E sa surein bersem.”
She said we would survive together.
I nodded.
Then we went out through the city gate and returned to the cave.
Back to the cave, she raised her hand and said peno kael.
Magic is convenient, huh
I hope I can use one too.
There was no way I could use magic.
Well, I wanted to try it though.
“Cahasur.” I spoke shyly
…
Suddenly…
Rune circle appeared in my hand then…
My hand shone brightly before the light vanished.
Naeris was surprised to see me using magic.
“Yo…har…gunder…sihie…?” she asked.
“Neh…noto…konowo…” I replied to her.
Naeris frowned before speaking slowly.
“Har yo gunder sihie lachal?” she asked
She asked if I can use magic again.
I will try again then.
“Cahasul.” I recited the spell
…
No response
“Cahasur.” Naeris corrected me.
“Cahasur.” I recited the spell once again.
Then my hand shone brightly
After seeing that I could use magic, she fell deep into thought.
“Yo re prisa kemilie, in si masut akin.” She murmured.
Makes sense because I came from priest’s family?
I’m not priest.
“Yo har belen sihie, yo har heruf tus.” She said
With me learning magic, I can help us to save others.
I nodded.
Then she taught me some spells.
At the entrance of the cave, she let me recite the spell.
I deep exhaled.
“Peno kael.” I recited the spell.
…
At first, it didn’t open.
I recited once again “Peno kael.”
Then the cave opened up.
“It worked it worked !” I screamed happily.
“It…wok…, pat bacheu?” she confused
Ah yes, I was so happy that I succeeded in casting the spell that I screamed in English.
“In sih neh wor bacheuh.” I replied
I said to her this is my world language.
“Anton et bacheu?” she asked.
I nodded.
“Pat azime?”
She asked for meaning for ‘It worked’
“’it worked’ tih lyran bacheuh sih bolgreisih.”
I explained that in the Lyran language, 'it worked' had the same meaning as 'bolgreisih'.
“It wok…bolgreisi…” She murmured
“It worked not it wok.” I corrected her pronounciation
She tried many times until…
“It…wor…k…ed?”
“yeah, you’re right!”
“It…work…ed, it…work…ed.” She said it so happily.
“Taben yo bice ta pat wor?” She asked again
She must be asking for ‘yeah, you’re right’.
“Jou, yo re beizi si yeah, you’re right.”
“Ye…a, you…re…raig?”
“It si ta salux.” I told her that was wrong
On the way to the forest, I taught her English.
In the forest, we were discussing the plan to infiltrate capital city through secret path.
“Raha jala lepar kava denalu suere, e sa folre jaute ge sentar en haupkato.’
Raha jala… secret path.
Lepar…through.
Kava… cave.
Denalu suere… near the river.
Folre jaute ge sentar en haupkato… follow route to the center of the capital city.
She explained that the secret path runs through a cave near the river in the forest, and its route cuts through the center of the capital city.
“Payoh… payoh Dimosroh not konowoh in jauteh?” I asked why the Dimos didn’t know this route.
“ Yur keragli kemilie, prisa kemilie huo keragli sonder konowo in jaute, taber majohe deben ta, Dimosro noto konowo in jaute.” she explained.
So only the royal family, the priest families, and the royal scouts knew this route, but most of them had died.
“E harit cehnek.” She said.
Cehnek…quick, yeah we must be quick.
We ran through the forest until we finally saw the river.
Then Naeris pointed to the far end of the river
From a distance, it looks like a cave.
We ran along the river…
Until a cave came into our sight.
A cave that looked ordinary from the outside…
It turned out it had hidden a secret path.
We went into the cave
The deeper we went, the more the light from outside faded away.
Finally, Naeris and I cast the spell.
“Cahasur” We both chanted spell at same time.
We continued our journey.
The path through the cave winds back and forth.
Until we found a dead end.
“Peno kael.” I chanted the spell.
…
It didn’t open.
Naeris shook her head.
“In pidur gunder beunter spodis.” she explained.
Beunter spodis…different spell?
“Valera anura kemilie.” Naeris chanted the spell.
Then the stone door opened.
We went through the stone door.
“Valera anura kemilie.” Naeris chanted the spell to close the stone door.
What lay before us was a giant drainage channel.
So massive that I could’t believe that we were underground.
There was no foul smell.
The water was surprisingly clear.
Whoever built this place understood engineering far beyond what I had expected from an ancient civilization.
I had been thinking about holding my nose while I was here.
Moss covered some of the ancient stones.
Cracks had appeared yet the structure still stood without collapsing.
It demonstrated an advanced infrastructure system.
Naeris led the way.
We ran through the sewers, from passageway to passageway.
First straight ahead…
Then to the left…
Straight ahead…
Right…
Straight ahead…
Left…
We kept running through many turns.
After countless turns, I completely lost my sense of direction.
I didn’t know how many turns we passed through.
I just trusted Naeris.
Finally, Naeris stopped before a vertical iron ladder fixed into the stone wall.
She looked up assessing the height, before she began to climb.
I followed closely after her.
The ladder was quite slippery.
One careless movement was enough to send me falling several meters back into the drainage channel below.
Naeris reached the top of the ladder then opened drain cover.
She slipped out of the hole.
After waiting in tense silence for few minutes, her face reappeared from above, giving me the signal to follow.
As soon as I stepped outside, the cold air pierced my body.
Outside, it was already nighttime, it seemed.
I checked the surroundings.
Many buildings became nothing but ruin.
Dimos caused this massive destruction to this capital city.
For what purpose?
Naeris stood silently, staring at the shattered streets.
Her gaze lingered on the ruins.
She didn't say a single word.
She didn't need to.
She noticed my gaze.
Then she came to me and spoke
“Yo tundro paher ti pejima.”
She said my friend must be in prison.
I nodded.
Then we continued on to the prison, with Naeris leading the way.
On the way to the prison, we hid before looking for a way to get past Dimos guards.
I felt that the situation wasn't going to be easy once we arrived at the prison.
And it turned out to be true…
There were two Dimos guards in front of the prison.
But they were sleeping during their guard job.
Even Dimos could slack off, huh?
Naeris unsheated her twin daggers.
With swift movement, she killed both.
She pierced her twin daggers into their throats.
I felt sick after watching it.
I wanted to puke.
Naeris opened the door and she waved at me to follow her inside.
When we went inside…
I saw professor and the others.
“Professor, Ruth, Alex, everyone!” I shouted at them.
“Anton!?” They were surprised to see me.
“H…How are you alive? I thought you were dead.” Professor asked me in disbelief.
“It’s long story, but we must hurry.” I said to them.
Then Naeris came with the prison key.
She opened one prison cell after another.
“I’m so glad that you came back to us.” Ruth said with teary eyes.
Naeris interrupted our conversation.
“E har noto steibe ke.”
She said we couldn’t stay here.
I nodded.
“All right, everyone. We can’t stay here, we will go home now.” I whispered urgently to everyone.
They nodded in agreement.
We were moving very quickly, with Naeris leading us toward the temple—or, in Lyran, a kuilo.
Suddenly…
A loud, sharp whistle pierced the night.
Damn, they found out.
Two Dimos soldiers rushed out from an alley, attempting to block our escape route
With a swift and lethal movement, Naeris cut them down.
But, a Dimos archer took aim to Naeris.
Oh, you can’t do that to Naeris.
“Apeur.” I chanted the spell against archer.
A flaming ball from my hand burned Dimos archer to crisp.
“Y…You can use magic, Anton?” Alex asked shaking.
“I learned it a few hours ago.” I replied.
“Moeto!” She shouted move to us.
“Come on, everyone.” I shouted to them.
We kept running through the shattered streets until the ruins of the kuilo finally came into sight.
But... they were already waiting for us.
Damn, these bastards.
Naeris attacked with her twin dagger and I helped her with ‘Apeur’.
The sound of the Dimos reinforcements could be heard getting closer.
After we finished Dimos soldiers in front of kuilo, we proceeded to get in.
But I saw Naeris standing in front of kuilo instead.
…
I have made up my mind.
“Everyone, get close to statue.”
They got close the Lyra statue.
I touched the gem.
And now, I had to run as fast as I could before rune circle appeared.
“Where are you going, Anton?” Ruth screamed in panic.
After I was out of rune circle reach
“Leave without me, everyone! Take care of yourselves, and thank you for everything!” I shouted over the hum of the activating rune circle.
“I will help Naeris. Good bye, everyone!”
The ancient runes burst into a brilliant pillar of white light. When the blinding glow slowly faded... the chamber was empty. They were gone, safely back on Earth.
I exhaled slowly.
“Now... let’s deal with these bastards.”
“Dimos…” Naeris muttered under her breath, her fingers tightening around her twin daggers.
“Ruah reh takuh Dimosroh.” I replied to her.
“Anton!?” She looked at me in utter shock
“Payo re yo ke?”
She asked me why I was in here.
“Tolem yo.” I smiled at her.
“Taber…” She murmured , hesitant.
I exhaled deeply.
“Spare me the lectures, we need to deal with them first!” I said to her in English.
I pointed at those Dimos.
She nodded.
“Ju sa belen it worro.” She said as she prepared to cut down Dimos.
She wanted to learn English from me, nice.
But after we won this fight.
Naeris cut them down one by one while I burned them with ‘apeur’.
There was no sign of them stopping
In fact, more and more were arriving.
We stood side by side.
We were surrounded now.
Too late to go home, huh.
I didn’t expect that I would fight side by side with Naeris.
Maybe if it was me back then—I was busier with university.
My parents, Alex, Ruth, Professor, and Karina…
Damn, I didn’t expect to remember her now.
Maybe the breakup was on me too... I was always too busy with university.
Suddenly…
There was an uproar behind them.
The Dimos suddenly stopped attacking.
Every Dimos turned around.
Then we saw approaching cavalry attacking Dimos.
That cavalry… We saw them back at the fortress. How are they here!?
Mass confusion broke out among the Dimos.
They didn’t know whether to strike both of us but left their back open to be pierced with spear or slashed with sword.
Naeris and I glanced at each other.
She cut Dimos down with her twin daggers and I burnt them with ‘apeur’.
After fighting for a while…
Every single Dimos was annihilated.
Naeris met up with the leader of cavalry.
She had a chat with him for a few minutes before she approached me.
“Anton, yo harit ketour yo duni.”
She told me that I need to return to earth.
I went to statue, touched the gem.
After waved goodbye, and waiting.
10 minutes passed…
30 minutes passed…
Not even rune appeared…
Is it broken?
Naeris confused with what was happening, approached me
After checked the gem, she opened her mouth
“Diete Lyra et Keis si hore.” She told me that Goddess Lyra’s energy was gone from the gem.
So in other word, I can’t go back home, huh.
“E har iku ge Diete Lyra.” She said
“Yo konowo pes Diete Lyra si?” I asked whether she knew Goddess Lyra whereabouts.
She shaked her head.
“Diete Lyra moye ta tus, iku ta timir.”
She said after Goddess Lyra moved them to this world from earth, went to sleep
