The Moon Princess' Tragedy

In the beginning, the moon was pulled along its four key phases by the Divine Serpent. But a lone Thief, while searching for the Moon Princess’ Treasury, severed the celestial reins of the Serpent from the Moon, enraging it.

The Thief, having stolen the Moon Princess’ antiquities, was pursued by the Hound, the Princess’ noble guardian tasked with keeping her divine treasury safe.

Yet the Thief was as cunning as he was calculating and tricked the Hound into leaving the heavenly protection of the castle, leaving him banished to the surface below.

Left with no other recourse, the Serpent’s purposeless rage threatening to destroy her home, the Moon Princess mournfully sealed herself, along with the Thief and the Serpent into a collection of mirrors, each reflecting the phases of the moon, before casting them all to the world below.

Except for one mirror, the only one whose reflection remained whole.

Thus, the moon stays full.
