Tanimaki Works a Shift at a Haunted House (Part 4)

The three of them nervously took their positions as the sound of human footsteps drew closer.

Debiru made the first move.

“Raaaar!”

His roar was rather clichéd, but the visitors still screamed and scattered in panic. Debiru’s face was as frighteningly effective as ever.

Next, it was Mayutan’s turn.

“How do you like my eyebrows?”

His absurdly thick eyebrows proved surprisingly frightening, especially to the children. Wiggling them up and down made them even more effective.

Tanimaki was the last to appear. He waited for the humans, swishing his two tails from side to side.

“I-I’m nervous, meow...”

Just then, two young women approached. Tanimaki gulped, gathered his courage, and leaped out in front of them.

“Meow! I’m a nekomata!”

“Aww! He’s so cute!”

One of the women effortlessly scooped Tanimaki up and held him in her arms.

“There, there. Who’s a good kitty?”

“Meow! Let go of me!”

Tanimaki desperately tried to intimidate them. To the humans, however, he sounded like nothing more than a tiny kitten meowing.
