T-Lilith's cry cut off as if someone had pressed pause.

With tears on her face, she stared at Adrian as he hit the ground. She watched him struggle to draw his gun, then collapse into the spreading blood and go silent.

"Voss!"

Chris shouted and tried to rush forward, but Norman grabbed him from behind. Chris turned on him, furious.

Norman only stared back without expression.

"He's gone."

The mutated Nemesis tightened its tentacles. T-Lilith, held firmly in its grip, stopped resisting. That seemed to irritate the monster. With its limiters gone, the creature's feral instincts had taken over. It urgently wanted its prey to struggle and fight back.

But the prey in its hand hung still, staring at the insignificant man collapsed in a pool of blood.

Nemesis found that boring. It wanted to crush the prey in its grip and be done with it, but the NE-Alpha parasite controlling it could still receive orders. It was a hunter. It had completed its mission. All that remained was to carry its prey back.

Norman failed to hold Chris in the end. Seeing Chris run toward Adrian's motionless body, Norman shook his head and began considering his own retreat.

Then T-Lilith moved.

With the blank stillness of an empty shell, she turned her head and looked at the mutated Nemesis holding her. Her already-red eyes began to glow, as if flames burned behind them.

The next moment, she screamed.

It was a scream sharp enough to stop everyone cold. Chris stumbled as he tried to reach Adrian. He lifted his head in shock and looked at T-Lilith in the monster's grasp.

The sound was both roar and sob, raw enough to tear the throat apart. As T-Lilith screamed, veins of black and red crawled under her white skin and climbed her neck, stopping only when they brushed the edge of her face. Her eyes shone with a frightening red light.

Maybe it was an illusion, but Chris thought he heard a heartbeat.

The sound grew stronger and stronger.

Then the tentacles binding T-Lilith exploded. Blood and torn flesh sprayed outward. Nemesis howled in pain and staggered back, severed tendrils whipping and bleeding in the air.

T-Lilith landed steadily on the floor.

Chris saw that her arms had changed. Her sleeves had split. Flesh tore through pale skin. Her slender fingers had lengthened into sharp claws that flashed with a cold, unnerving light. She lifted her head without emotion, looked at the monster in front of her, and launched herself forward like a missile.

Nemesis clearly had not expected the prey that had struggled helplessly in its hand to become something like this. Caught off guard, it took the impact full in the chest. T-Lilith's claws pierced its flesh like blades. She raked them downward, and a burst of blood mist erupted across the monster's torso.

Nemesis screamed. Before its tentacles could regenerate, it twisted them together like a war hammer and smashed them into T-Lilith's abdomen.

She flew back, but she twisted in midair and landed on her feet. The moment she landed, she charged again. This time Nemesis was ready. It roared and swung its mutated left arm, trying to force her back.

T-Lilith did not dodge.

The giant claw raked across her chest, tearing through clothing and flesh beneath it. She moved as if she no longer felt pain, driving through the blow until she was inside Nemesis's reach again. Her claws tore into its flesh in a blur.

Chris stared at the scene.

Chris had spent years fighting some of the worst B.O.W.s on Earth. But he had never seen anything like this.

This was B.O.W. against B.O.W. There was no technique, no tactics, only two weapons trading wound for wound, both sides tearing flesh from the other without hesitation. Even wild predators did not fight like this.

For the first time, Chris truly understood that the young woman in front of him was an absolute monster.

Neither side was winning. Their altered biology kept repairing the damage. T-Lilith fought with an empty expression and without a sound. No matter how many times she was knocked away, she reset her stance and charged again. Each time Nemesis tried to force her back with an attack, she took the blow head-on, rushed into its reach, and shredded its flesh with both claws while its blood poured over her.

Thought was leaving her.

The killing instinct built into her as a weapon began to crowd out everything else.

Her expression twisted into something brutal and feral.

Chris could see it clearly.

T-Lilith was smiling.

She was too agile. Once she slipped close to Nemesis's body, its enormous frame became a burden. It could not hold her. Every tentacle that tried to bind her was severed and ripped apart. Its regeneration could not keep pace with the damage she inflicted.

The situation was completely out of control.

Norman had vanished.

Chris looked at the gun in his hands, then at the two monsters tearing each other apart, and had to admit he had no opening to intervene. While T-Lilith and Nemesis were locked together, he gritted his teeth and moved forward, intending to carry Adrian away.

The instant he was about to lift Adrian, T-Lilith released a terrifying scream and charged straight at him.

Chris snapped his weapon up, but she was too fast. In a blink, she was in front of him. Her clawed arm came down without mercy. Chris stopped breathing. Time seemed to stretch, and he could see her expression clearly. Her eyes, completely flooded with red, locked on him. Her teeth were clenched as if she meant to tear him apart.

She looked like a vicious guard dog protecting its master.

Maybe that was fitting. She belonged with the Mad Dog of Loplers, and now she wore the same feral shape.

Chris accepted that death was coming.

But before T-Lilith's claws could fall, her abdomen was pierced from behind.

Nemesis's elongated mutated left arm, tipped with a sharp claw, had stabbed clean through her from the back. T-Lilith's blood burst out and splashed across Chris's face.
