Shisui's sighs left Itachi deep in thought.

Itachi had naturally sensed the undercurrents moving inside the clan. Though young, he could already faintly feel the conflict between the clan and the village. But he was powerless to do anything about it.

After thinking for a moment, Itachi hesitated. "Brother Shisui, if news spreads that you lost to Senior Naoki, then..."

The Uchiha clan being ostracized by the village was not an accident. It could be said that most Uchiha were not especially likable.

The main reason was that once an Uchiha awakened their eyes, their strength would rise by leaps and bounds along with the awakening of their kekkei genkai. Eventually growing into a jonin was almost inevitable.

They could gain power above others without paying too great a price.

Over time, it was inevitable that a feeling of superiority would grow.

Because of that, Itachi was worried that after news of Shisui losing to Naoki spread, the unruly experts in the clan might go trouble Naoki. There was precedent for that sort of thing.

Shisui smiled. "I know what you are worried about, but you can relax. Senior Naoki is stronger than you imagine."

Itachi immediately understood Shisui's intention. That made him even more curious about the match between Shisui and Naoki, so he hurriedly asked, "Then tell me about your fight with Senior Naoki."

Shisui recalled his earlier battle with Naoki and said slowly, "I did not expect Senior Naoki, who had always kept such a low profile, to have ocular power above mine. Every time I think of a genius like that staying so understated while my clan pushes me forward as its top genius and I enjoy the admiration of comrades in the village, I feel somewhat ashamed."

After shaking his head and sighing, Shisui described the process of the match.

"Neither genjutsu nor taijutsu could deal with Senior Naoki?" Itachi lowered his head and murmured for a while, then said, "So Senior Naoki's strength was that great. It seems I worried too much."

Shisui seemed to recall something then. "I had a feeling."

Itachi asked, "What feeling?"

"Senior Naoki seemed to know I did not use my full strength. He seemed to..."

Shisui had wanted to say that Naoki seemed to have sensed that he possessed the Mangekyo Sharingan, but he quickly shook his head and drove that absurd thought from his mind.

At present, only he and Itachi knew he had awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan. And he trusted that Itachi would never leak that secret.

On the second floor of the izakaya, after they finished discussing Sasori, Naoki thought for a moment and probed, "Lord Orochimaru, how much do you know about Tailed Beasts?"

Orochimaru was somewhat surprised. "You are interested in Tailed Beasts? Because of the Two-Tails jinchuriki you encountered earlier?"

Naoki did not hide it and nodded naturally. "Because my talent was insufficient, my chakra volume has never been abundant. To solve that problem, I looked through many books and records, but in the end, every answer pointed toward Tailed Beasts."

Orochimaru chuckled. "Like me, you will pay any price to obtain an answer. But let me give you one piece of advice: do not touch Tailed Beasts. They are more troublesome than you imagine."

Naoki quickly said, "Tailed Beasts are a taboo of the Five Great Shinobi Villages. I certainly will not overestimate myself and target them. My idea is whether it might be possible to create a small artificial Tailed Beast."

After that, Naoki explained his concept for creating an artificial Tailed Beast to Orochimaru without holding anything back.

With Naoki's current technical level, creating an artificial Tailed Beast was absolutely impossible. If he wanted an artificial Tailed Beast like Zero-Tails to appear early, he had to borrow Orochimaru's power.

Orochimaru was surprised by Naoki's idea. He froze briefly, then said in his hoarse voice, "Naoki, you truly are different from other people. You are full of ideas."

Naoki looked at Orochimaru expectantly. "Can this idea be realized?"

After thinking for a long time, Orochimaru said in a low voice, "Actually, the village has researched Tailed Beasts since the First Hokage's era. Until the Second Hokage held power, the Tailed Beast research project still existed. Later, for reasons I do not know, the project was suddenly halted. All the data was sealed away, and the Tailed Beast research plan was suspended completely."

Naoki thought inwardly, 'So the village really did study Tailed Beasts.'

In truth, ever since he encountered Shinno, Naoki had been analyzing which village Shinno had stolen the technology to create Zero-Tails from.

Among the Five Great Shinobi Villages, the Hidden Mist and Hidden Sand had always had unstable political situations and comparatively weaker strength. They did not have the ability to conduct deep research into Tailed Beasts, so those two villages had been eliminated first.

The Hidden Stone and Hidden Cloud were strong, but the Hidden Stone focused on Earth Release-related research, while the Hidden Cloud focused on Lightning Release and physical development. Neither seemed to have achieved much in Tailed Beast research.

After comparing them all, Konoha, which had possessed the First Hokage who could completely suppress Tailed Beasts, seemed to be the village truly capable of conducting in-depth Tailed Beast research.

Gathering his wandering thoughts, Naoki asked at the right moment, "Why did the plan stop?"

Orochimaru answered, "I do not know the exact reason either, but based on my guess, perhaps it was instability. I have read part of the data. Artificial Tailed Beasts have a very high chance of going berserk, and once they do, the result is a complete disaster."

Naoki proposed another idea. "If the artificial Tailed Beast gives up offensive capability and only acts as a battery, could its stability improve?"

Orochimaru glanced at Naoki and spoke in a teaching tone. "A large amount of chakra gathered together is, by its nature, destructive. There is no such thing as giving up offensive power. In earlier years, I had a similar idea. If you want to improve stability, there is only one method: the chakra source supplied to the artificial Tailed Beast can have only one origin, and the chakra nature cannot be too violent."

Naoki frowned. "Aside from Tailed Beasts, who could supply chakra to an artificial Tailed Beast through individual power alone?"

"Exactly. In the shinobi world, perhaps only the First Hokage had the ability to supply chakra to an artificial Tailed Beast through his own power. Others, including the Second Hokage, probably did not have that ability." After a pause, Orochimaru continued, "And if violent Tailed Beast chakra is used as the chakra source for an artificial Tailed Beast, the artificial Tailed Beast will probably go berserk immediately. I suspect that is why the artificial Tailed Beast plan was halted."

Naoki worked hard to search every memory from his previous life, hoping to find the answer to this seemingly unsolvable problem.

In his hazy memories, there were many people with massive amounts of chakra. But every one of them stood at the peak of the shinobi world. None would work for Naoki as a laborer supplying chakra.

Excluding those powerhouses, Naoki still vaguely remembered two mysterious places with enormous chakra.

One was the Dragon Vein in the ancient city of Roran, located in the Land of Wind. The other was the demon called Moryo, sealed by the priestess of the Land of Demons.
