The rhythmic creak of the bed finally quieted after one last breathless rise and fall.

Felicity lay in Damon's arms, eyes hazy. It took a while before her gaze focused again.

She tidied her messy hair, rested her head on Damon's shoulder, and said lazily, "Honey, you were amazing."

"You were not bad either."

Damon had let his thoughts wander toward possible future breakups, but right now Felicity's body, her reactions, and the pleasure still lingering in the air all made him feel very motivated.

After resting a while, Damon carried Felicity into the bathroom.

Water washed over their tired, lazy bodies. Then they returned to the bedroom and fell asleep in each other's arms.

Appropriate exercise could improve sleep quality.

It could also change the subject.

At least Felicity's offer to give Damon a phone had been successfully derailed.

Morning came.

After breakfast, Felicity went to work. Damon took the laptop to the living room and browsed the news while monitoring Laurel's location.

Gotham. Central City. Metropolis.

Days passed.

Laurel did not go to the Queen Industries factory again, as if what had happened last time was completely in the past. Her routine became painfully regular. Every morning, she left home for school. After classes, she went straight back home.

She behaved so properly she might as well have been in elementary school.

Damon's life became regular too.

During the day, he browsed online and watched Laurel's location. At night, when Felicity came home, they chatted, watched television, and enjoyed some intense exercise before sleep.

Felicity had been glowing more and more lately.

The familiar creaking sounded right on schedule when Felicity suddenly cried out in excitement.

"It's moving. It's moving."

"I have been moving the whole time."

"I mean Laurel's location."

Felicity turned to the laptop beside them.

The red dot marking Laurel's position was indeed moving. It looked as if she had left home.

"She came out this late. Do you think she is going to find you?" Felicity asked excitedly.

Damon glanced at the screen, then looked away.

Laurel finally moving made him happy, but the matter in front of him still needed to be finished first.

Soon, Felicity had no room to think about anything else.

Moonlight spilled over the city.

The streets of the Glades were almost empty. Only a few homeless people could be seen curled in corners.

In front of the Queen Industries factory, Laurel arrived in athletic clothes with a bag over her shoulder. She looked around, took a deep breath, backed up, sprinted forward, and jumped high enough to catch the top of the iron gate.

The gate was more than six feet tall. Climbing it was not easy. After struggling for a while, she finally flipped over and landed inside.

Once on the ground, Laurel opened her bag and took out two things.

A flashlight.

A stun gun.

The abandoned factory was dark and empty, which made the flashlight beam look unusually bright. Following her memory, Laurel soon reached the place where she had been held before.

The bent pieces of rebar were still on the ground.

Her voice echoed through the quiet space.

"Hello? I came."

"Damon Keller? Are you here?"

Laurel tested the darkness softly and received no answer.

Was he not here?

Warm breath suddenly brushed the back of her neck.

Laurel shivered on instinct, spun around, switched on the stun gun, and thrust it behind her.

Crackle.

The stun gun flashed and buzzed weakly.

Then Laurel felt her wrist lock tight.

Her flashlight swung over, and she saw Damon standing right in front of her, holding the wrist that gripped the stun gun.

Damon smiled and looked at the device in her hand. His fingers tightened slightly around her wrist.

Laurel groaned, and the stun gun slipped from her hand.

Clatter.

The sound of it hitting the floor was clear in the empty space.

Laurel trembled on instinct.

Then she saw the hand around her wrist light with a strange blue glow.

It looked like the electricity from the stun gun.

Crackling sounds filled the air.

In the next instant, an electric current surged from Damon's hand into her body. Laurel shook all over.

Her eyes widened in disbelief.

Then she passed out and collapsed, her body twitching faintly even after she hit the ground.

Damon ignored Laurel for the moment and looked down at his hands.

Electricity moved between his fingers.

As he stacked it, the current grew thicker and brighter until it spread over his whole body. The air snapped and crackled. Brilliant blue light filled the space around him.

For a moment, Damon looked like a god of thunder descending into the room, impossible to resist.

He had known Protege's power could copy forces and properties, but he had never had a good chance to test it.

Most of his copying so far had been passive. Whatever came at him was what he copied.

Seeing the stun gun had given him the sudden idea to try copying its electrical force.

It worked smoothly.

A civilian stun gun was not powerful, but the initial strength did not matter to Damon.

He could stack without limit.

Even a tiny current from a stun gun could be multiplied until it became power capable of destroying the world.
