The Silver-haired Sisters

'We've arrived at the Academy, Miss Silverstein!' - said the female carter.

'Is that so?' - the girl inside the cart asked, while tried to wake the smaller girl up.

'Remember to bring your belonging with you, alright?'

'I know, I know, "mama". Seriously, you just 3 years older than me!'

'But I'm worried...'

'Tchh... Off we go, Liz!'

'Yes, Big Sis' - the smaller one replied, still with some sleepiness in her.

The two girls arrived at the Noreas Academy of Magic, one of the oldest magic school here in Central City Pagta. It was quite well-known in the past for being abled to produce some of the strongest magician in the whole Vanala continent, while also be affordable for the commoners. Maybe that was why her late uncle suggested this place?

As the smaller girl still waving at the cart that started moving further away, the bigger one approached the oddly small-looking booth by the side of the massive entrance.

'Excuse me, is this where I can register for admission?' - the girl asked the two inside the booth.

'Oh... oh yes, this is.' - the girl inside the booth answered with a bit of surprise, since it was about noon of the last day of registration.

'We would like to register, then.' - said the girl. 'Hey, Liz, come here.'

'Alright then, Ricky, prepare the Magnifier and two name plates.' - the girl inside the booth asked the boy sitting next to her.

'...Huh?' - the boy surprised.

'The. Magnifier. Please!'

'Y-Yes, Prez.'

'Really now, you can even sleep with your eyes opened!? ...Sorry cutie, but can you give us a minute?'

'...Yeah, sure.'

The Magnifier is a small magical tool that when pour a little magic power in, can reveal some basic information of things you looking at, and can also use as is to see thing clearer, which make it quite common. In this case, it will be used to get the name and age of the girls.

'Now let see... the girl with the white eyepatch name is... Elyna Silverstein, age 13, and the girl with twin tail name is... Eliza Silverstein, age 11...'. As "the Prez" was reading out loud, "Ricky" started casting a spell on the plates that made them glowed, and the two girls names and ages started showing up like it was burnt into them. '...and done! '..And also, here's a pamphlet with some information about the Academy for first time visitors.'

After receiving the name plates and the pamphlet, the two girls walked through the entrance. Elyna took a look at the pamphlet, while she was walking toward the line of people that seem like also here for the test. Eliza tried to follow her beloved sister, while looked around with excitement filling her eyes.

'Let see... pass the entrance is the statue of the academy's founder, then behind it is an ornamental garden, and then after that is the main hall building... oh, so t...'

As Elyna tried to look at the building that started the line of people, she bumped into a more mature-looking, red haired girl that walked in the opposite direction. The girl felt butt first onto the ground.

'Are you okay?' - said Elyna, as she tried to help the girl stand up. 'Sorry, I was not looking'.
'I'm fine, it just hurt a little' - the girl answered, with her right hand slightly rubbed her butt - 'Just be careful next time.'

'Sis, this wood plate have a big letter "E" behind it.' - said Eliza, as she picked the girl's name plate up for her.

'Oh, that is the name of the class I'll be assigned to.'

'Is the name of the class matter?' - Elyna seemed curious.

'Students being classified by the number shown in the Measure Orb, so peoples having about the same potential get in the same class, so... maybe?'

'Hmm hmm... Oh right, you can take this.' - said Elyna, as she pulled out a pea seed from the small bag she had on her waist

'What is this?' - the girl confused.

'It's a healing item. Just place it in a pot or some ground close to your house.'

'...Thanks.' - the girl hesitated, but took it anyway. Receiving something you had never seen before from some stranger, especially when the item sounded that good, was a no-go, normally. But the girl in front of her looked about the same age as her sister, how could she lie? Yeah, there was just no way.

The girl and the sisters duo then said goodbye to each others and parted ways. By the time the two silver-haired reach the main hall, one of the examiners went out and told the last bunch of participants to came in at once, to wrap things up before the sun went above their heads. Inside the lobby, there were 3 tables, each with an orb placed on top, two students sat behind those orbs, and some professors sat at the back to help in case unexpected things happened.

'Elyna Silverstein, to this table, please!' - one of the examiners at the left table called, as they finished with the previous person.

'Yes.' - Elyna answered, while wondered about how did he know her name, since no one carried a Magnifier. Maybe it had something to do with the name plate, but her curiosity did not win this time.

'Please place your hand onto this orb.'

Elyna hesitated for a while. Should she tried to put as much power into it as possible? But things tended to break if she did, and standing out was also not something she fond of. Her rare hairs color and the eyepatch were already enough. Then she thought of the red haired girl that she bumped into earlier. Should she tried to get into the lower class, by limiting her power to match that girl? But she couldn't sense much power coming out of the girl, and reducing her power too much might make her fail this test, and potentially leave her sister alone in the academy.

'Thanks to that idiot uncle...' - she murmured, as she tried to suppress her magic power. Perhaps her uncle way of teaching, which always put her in those barely manageable situation, did affect the way she think, in a weird way. As she touched the Measure Orb, there was a small red light appear inside.

'Elyna Silverstein, 67, E class.' - the left examiner announced. The young girl gave a small sign of relief, while the right examiner was writing the "E" letter in the back of her plate using magic. Then, suddenly, a male voice called out to Elyna.

'Excuse me, Miss...' - the man talked as he glanced over the name plate - '... ehmm... Miss Silverstein, may I have a moment of your time?'

The girl looked at where the voice came from. Behind the right examiner was an grown up elf man, with light green, messy hairs and disheveled clothes. If he had not been called "Professor" by the examiners, who would have thought that this guy is also an instructor.

'...Please give me a second.'

'Sure thing.'

Elyna then walked fast toward her sister.

'Liz, I have to go somewhere now. Just wait for me outside after you've done the test, okay?'

'Okay~!'

'And also...' - the girl then got closer to her sister and whispered - '...try to hold back as much as you can, alright?'

'O-Okay.' - the small girl tried to mimic her sister and whispered back.

Before headed off, Elyna didn't forget to give Eliza a headpat.
