Chapter 58:

THE HOSTILE TAKE OVER

Final Chapter: POST FUTURE SAGA

Hanz gripped his blade tight, channeling Kantar to his eyes to scan through Balthazar's complex Kantar network. His body tensed, locking into a guarded stance as his inner demon’s voice echoed in his mind: *"What did she mean by she doesn't plan to? The girl has something up her sleeve, we have to figure out what."*

Before he could process the thought, Balthazar opened the fight. She lunged forward with a brutal, Kantar-reinforced punch. On pure instinct, Hanz brought his katana up to block.

The collision sent violent shockwaves tearing across the arena. The sheer force of the impact rippled outward, tearing through the air until audible snaps echoed from the grandstands, webbing the stone structures with jagged fractures.

"Ladies and gentlemen, look at the arena stands!" the commentator roared into his microphone, his voice straining over the rumble. "The structural integrity of the sector four stands is failing under the sheer kinetic feedback of that clash! We are seeing literal cracks form in the concrete! Security teams, deploy localized barrier fields immediately—this is no longer just a match, it’s a localized disaster zone!"

Hanz’s hands numbed, his fingers barely holding onto the katana as the vibrations rattled his bones. Gritting his teeth, he muttered under his breath, "Gotta give it to the celestials that crafted the staff, any normal weapon would have shattered."

Refusing to yield, he channeled his Kantar directly into the blade. A pitch-black spiral manifested at the center of the katana, swirling like a mini, gravity-defying portal to another dimension. From the depth of the spiral, a massive, serpentine Kantar Dragon surged forth with a deafening hiss, its jaws clamping violently down onto Balthazar's hand. Instantly, a blinding yellow light erupted from within Balthazar as the dragon began aggressively siphoning away her Kantar reserves.

"Unbelievable counter-play!" the commentator screamed, leaning so far over the rail his headset almost slipped. "Hanz has just unleashed a legendary Kantar Dragon technique! Look at that blinding yellow discharge—he is literally draining Balthazar's power reserves right out of her veins!"

Balthazar screamed in agonizing pain. As her energy was forcibly ripped out, the veins beneath her skin bulged like nests of squirming serpents, each one glowing with a volatile, bright yellow light. With a massive burst of sheer willpower, she managed to tank her hand out of the beast's jaws. Her face flushed a deep crimson, sweat pouring down her brow as she panted heavily.

"Damn you, that was his technique," she spat, pain evident in every line of her face. "He treated you like a son yet you... you..."

She paused, the emotional betrayal twisting her features before she charged toward him in a blind, chaotic fury, yelling at the top of her lungs, "I'LL MAKE YOU PAY!!!"

Hanz scoffed, his eyes hardening as he muttered, "Yeah, if you can call being trained to be a weapon being raised like a son. My only parent figure is Hannah."

The Kantar Dragon wrapped its massive coils around Hanz like a protective shroud. The moment Balthazar’s furious fist made contact with the shroud, the dragon immediately began sucking her Kantar once again.

With an irritated hiss, Balthazar quickly leaped away to break the connection. She glared at Hanz, shouting across the distance, "You can suck my Kantar as much as you want, you and I both know how deep my Kantar reserves go."

To prove her point, she hovered her left palm directly over her right. A highly dense, volatile ball of blue Kantar rapidly compressed in the space between her hands. With a sharp flick of her wrists, she launched it as a highly compressed blue laser straight toward Hanz, muttering to herself, "Let's see just how much your dragon can store before he'd have to release it all."

"Balthazar is playing a dangerous game of chicken!" the commentator shouted, pounding his fist on the announcer's desk. "She's pushing her reserves to the absolute limit, firing a compressed blue laser directly at Hanz's dragon! She is trying to force an absolute overload!"

Hanz’s dragon opened its jaws wide, acting as a vacuum for the oncoming energy. As it swallowed the compressed laser, its jet-black scales began to shift, taking on a dangerous, glowing purplish hue.

Balthazar smirked. She knew exactly what that discoloration meant—the beast was reaching its maximum threshold.

Hanz noticed the change too, muttering, "As expected she knows how the technique works, but I bet she won't be expecting this."

Instead of letting the dragon overload, Hanz commanded the beast to charge directly at Balthazar. Its mouth unhinged as all the volatile Kantar it had siphoned gathered into a massive, highly unstable sphere of pure destructive energy. The dragon launched the orb straight at her before immediately dissipating into mist.

"Look at the color shift! The dragon is turning a violent purple!" the commentator yelled into the mic. "But wait—Hanz isn't backing down! He's converting all that stolen energy into a condensed orb of pure destruction and sending it right back at her!"

Balthazar, anticipating the counter, widened her stance and smirked. She funneled her remaining Kantar to form a wild, incredibly dense wall of energy in front of her. The destructive orb hit the wall square-on.

The resulting explosion was catastrophic. The shockwave completely shattered her Kantar wall, sending a deafening boom through the stadium and kicking up a thick blanket of smoke and jagged arena debris everywhere.

"An absolute blackout of smoke in the ring!" the commentator gasped, coughing slightly from the rising dust. "We've completely lost visual on both fighters! The sensors are going totally haywire, ladies and gentlemen. Who survived that blast?!"

Balthazar stood her ground amid the chaos, remaining intensely focused. She channeled Kantar to her eyes, desperately scanning the smoke to lock onto Hanz’s specific Kantar signature.

But before she could pinpoint it, a sharp, searing agony ripped through her back. She screamed, her legs giving out as she fell heavily to her knees. She felt something moist and thick dripping rapidly down her spine, accompanied by the distinct sound of blood pattering onto the rubble behind her.

Twisting her head around, she saw Hanz standing over her. His blade was dripping with her fresh blood, and a terrifying black skull mask now obscured his face. When he spoke, his voice came out in a chilling, double-layered resonance.

"You're finding it difficult to heal your wound right now aren't you? I slipped in a bit of my Kantar into the wound when I slashed you. It would mess with your Kantar manipulation for a while." He brought the cold edge of his katana directly to her exposed neck. "This looks like checkmate."

Balthazar stared up at the blade, and then, inexplicably, burst out laughing. Her entire body shook with the force of her dark amusement.

"Do you really think it's over, that fast? That's a good one." Her laughter died down, replaced by a cold, ruthless grin as she roared out toward the stadium, "Now would be a better time than any, Marcel!"

The words had barely left her lips when chaos erupted. Out of nowhere, squads of troops materialized throughout the stadium, clad in heavy, light-absorbing black obsidian armor. Without warning, they began to ruthlessly lay waste to the audience.

The stadium echoed with horrific screams as blood sprayed across the stands. In the chaotic panic, a soldier cornered a terrified mother holding her infant.

The mother sobbed uncontrollably, pleading with the faceless soldier. "Do what you want with me, just... spare my baby please!"

Her desperate pleas fell on entirely deaf ears. Without a shred of hesitation, the soldier cleanly cut off the baby's head before turning his weapon to lay waste to the mother.

Simultaneously, troops swarmed the contestant stands. Five heavily armed soldiers completely surrounded Shu with their weapons drawn, speaking in chilling unison: "Shu Razar, by order of the imperial government you are under arrest."

Watching the horror unfold from her own vantage point, Hannah bolted upright from her seat, her muscles tensing as she prepared to dash down toward Shu. Next to her, Had and Elena surged to their feet.

Jax slammed his hands down, yelling, "What the hell is going on? How did they get here?!"

But before any of them could make a move, a squad of obsidian-armored soldiers ambushed their room. Wasting no time, the soldiers lunged forward, jamming needles into the necks of Elena and Jax to inject them with a mysterious, fast-acting serum.

Hannah, completely overtaken by raw fury, didn't let them get close. Her eyes flared with a dangerous purple glow as she unleashed her power, beginning to brutally lay waste to the multitude of soldiers closing in around her.

Back down in the center of the ruined arena, Hanz stood frozen in absolute shock. His katana trembled slightly as he stared at the figure who had just stepped onto the battlefield.

"It's... it's you," Hanz muttered, the blood draining from his face.

Standing before him was a man dressed in opulent, rich robes, his long black hair flowing in the wind of the residual smoke. His facial structure bore a striking, undeniable resemblance to Hanz himself.

Locking eyes with Hanz, the man’s face contorted into a fiendish, mocking grin. "Hello brother, long time no see. I believe this is where I say end of the road for you."
