Chapter 89:
My Hero Academia: Gura Gura no Mi
U.A. High School was as quiet as still water.
If a needle had fallen, everyone would have heard it.
The entire crowd was waiting for Yuto to appear.
They had come for him.
Inside the entrance tunnel, the light was dim. A faint glow waited ahead, and beyond that glow was the battlefield.
Yuto stood in the tunnel while the field outside remained strangely silent.
Then he began to jog forward with light steps.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
The sound of his footsteps rang out.
The moment Yuto's right foot stepped out of the tunnel, the silent stadium ignited.
U.A. High School exploded with noise.
Cheers, shouts, and chants rose into the sky. Spectators stood and waved their arms, shouting themselves hoarse for him.
A wave of sound swept across U.A.
"Do your best, Yuto!"
"We're your fans!"
"Even if his opponent is All Might, keep going!"
That was Yuto's current popularity.
It was no longer far behind All Might's.
In the commentary room, Present Mic froze for a moment before excitement filled his voice again.
"What a surprise! In such a short time, Yuto's popularity has exploded! He can already stand beside All Might in terms of attention!"
"Now let's see whether his strength can stand against All Might as well!"
Yuto and All Might both arrived on the battlefield.
The cheers still showed no sign of fading.
The pressure in the air was heavy.
The battle was about to begin.
Present Mic roared, "Both fighters are ready! The long-awaited final match, the No. 1 Pro Hero All Might versus U.A.'s super rookie Yuto Kanzaki, officially begins!"
The final match had started.
Reporters immediately aimed cameras and flashes at Yuto.
Click. Click. Click.
Flashes went off nonstop as each reporter fought to capture the best shot.
"Get a clear close-up of Yuto! The whole country is watching this match!"
"Careful. Miss this and you'll lose your job."
"Yuto, Yuto, Yuto. That's the focus. Make sure the cameras stay on him!"
All Might was incredible, but compared with Yuto's sudden rise, every media worker knew where the story was.
Class 1-A looked as nervous as if they were stepping onto the battlefield themselves.
Cold sweat covered Midoriya's forehead.
One fighter was All Might, the No. 1 Pro Hero and the idol he had admired for years.
The other was Yuto, the person he admired now and wanted to follow.
Midoriya muttered nonstop, "Yuto-kun is strong, but fighting All Might might be too much. Still, with his strength and explosive power, maybe he can pull off something incredible..."
He had entered his usual muttering mode.
Yaoyorozu looked nervous, but she said, "No matter what happens, go for it, Yuto."
Ochaco waved her fist and shouted, "Do your best, Yuu-kun!"
For that moment, all of Class 1-A was focused on the same battle.
On the field, All Might felt the heat of the crowd and showed his standard smile.
"Young Yuto," he said, "from the first day I met you, I knew this day would come. Now it has finally arrived."
"Bring out all of your strength. Let me see how strong you really are."
Yuto held two blades and entered Three Sword Style.
Sword light flickered across the battlefield. A cold gleam flashed in his eyes.
"I should be the one saying that," he replied.
All Might looked at him with approval.
"Young Yuto, still as confident as ever."
The moment he finished speaking, the battle began.
All Might attacked first.
Whoosh.
A rush of wind rang out.
The audience gasped.
All Might vanished from the battlefield.
Where had he gone?
The question filled every spectator's mind.
When he appeared again, he was already in front of Yuto.
All Might laughed. "Young Yuto, I won't be holding back much from here."
"Your movement and field of vision are still too slow."
"Against me, reactions that slow will get you hit."
His passionate roar shook the field.
"Texas Smash!"
He gathered power into his right hand and threw a straight punch.
A giant fist like a hammer came crashing toward Yuto, creating a violent wind pressure that swept across the field.
Dust erupted and covered the entire battlefield.
Boom!
A thunderous crash rang out.
A mushroom cloud rose from the ground.
The U.A. training ground shook.
All Might's attack had flowed too smoothly. He had given Yuto no chance to counter.
The audience froze, eyes blank with shock.
Was it over?
Had the match ended only one second after it began?
Then, inside the smoke-covered battlefield, a faint flash of sword light appeared.
