Chapter 26:
The Entire Truth Behind the Mysteries
Complete darkness.
Then—
Rurouni opened his eyes.
This time, he found himself sitting at his own desk.
He was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, and blue sports shoes.
He looked exactly his current age.
And, for some reason...
He was smiling and seemed to be in an unusually good mood.
A white sheet of paper rested in his hands.
He opened the drawer beside his desk and pulled out his blue fountain pen.
Then, with a cheerful smile, he began writing while quietly humming the rhythm of his favorite song, I Don't Know Anymore.
The real Rurouni got curious.
"...What are you doing?"
The other Rurouni didn't respond.
Curious, Rurouni stepped closer.
Then he saw what had been written at the top of the page.
To Akin Alestaneo,
The King of Lakhonea
Rurouni froze, rubbed his eyes.
Then looked again.
His expression immediately changed.
"WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU WRITING, YOU ASSHOLE?!"
"THAT'S THE KING OF OUR ENEMY CONTINENT!"
The other Rurouni continued writing.
He didn't react.
It was as though he couldn't hear him.
Rurouni tried touching him.
His hand went through nothing.
Then—
He tried again.
This time, he could touch him.
But the other Rurouni felt strangely solid.
Like a rock.
"...What?"
Rurouni stared at his own hand.
Then at the other version of himself.
"...I literally don't understand anything anymore."
Since nothing he did seemed to change anything...
He decided to read the subject.
His eyes moved toward the next line.
Subject: A Request to Destroy My School with Your Missile
Rurouni read it again just in case he read it wrong.
Three seconds passed.
Then—
"WHO THE HELL ARE YOU WEARING MY FACE?!"
"I ONLY WANTED TOMORROW OFF!"
"NOT THE DESTRUCTION OF THE ENTIRE SCHOOL!"
The other Rurouni continued writing.
Rurouni looked down at the letter again.
His expression became increasingly horrified.
Then he saw the first paragraph.
Dear Akin Sir,
I am a big fan of your terrorism and have a sincere wish to see your God-level skills with my own two eyes against those who taught me to hate you and made my life pathetic and miserable.
Rurouni grabbed the back of his neck.
"DID YOU SELL YOUR BRAIN OR SOMETHING?!"
"YOU JUST CALLED HIM A TERRORIST AND EXPECT HIM TO DESTROY YOUR SCHOOL?!"
"AND WHAT'S WITH 'MADE MY LIFE MISERABLE AND PATHETIC'?!"
"DO YOU ACTUALLY EXPECT A TERRORIST TO DO THE HERO'S WORK?!"
The other Rurouni calmly finished writing.
Then he stretched his arms.
Rurouni stared at the remaining part of the letter.
There was another paragraph.
One more thing. If you have less manpower and need some help, I have two followers in mind who would probably be willing to help you for a very long time.
Their names are:
Kara Shirugae
Katon Ashford
If you need any other help, feel free to ask.
From your biggest fan,
Rurouni Rakhora
Rurouni's mind began to blur.
He looked as though he had just witnessed something so ridiculous that his brain had temporarily given up.
"W-WHO EVEN IS THIS GUY?!"
"WHO USES HIS OWN FRIENDS TO INCREASE THE CHANCES OF DESTROYING HIS SCHOOL?!"
"AND WHAT'S WITH 'YOUR BIGGEST FAN'?!"
"DO YOU HONESTLY THINK I CAN BE ANYONE'S FAN?!"
"I AM THE SOLE FAN OF HASHAKU SAKARI!"
"I'M MOST LIKELY LIVING A MISERABLE AND BORING LIFE IF NOT FOR HIS AWESOME FANTASY NOVELS!"
"I DON'T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT ANYONE ELSE!"
"GOT THAT?!"
The other Rurouni finally finished the letter.
He looked at it with a satisfied smile.
Then—
He stood up, walked toward the door.
Rurouni followed him.
"Wait!"
"What are you going to do with that?!"
The other Rurouni opened the door.
He stepped outside.
Then closed it with full force.
SLAM!
The moment the door shut—
Everything became white.
Rurouni's eyes flew open.
"Gah—!"
He shot upright in bed.
His entire body jolted as though an electric current had passed through it.
He looked around his room.
Nothing.
No letter.
No second Rurouni.
No King of Lakhonea.
Just his room.
Rurouni slowly caught his breath.
"..."
Then he remembered something.
"...Oh."
"That was just a dream."
A tired smile appeared on his face.
"...Well."
"That was a better dream than I expected."
He paused.
"...Actually, no."
"That was probably one of the worst dreams I've ever had."
The digital clock beside his bed read—
15 April 4080
7:02 A.M.
Every muscle in Rurouni's body begged for more rest.
Yet somehow...
His mind was painfully awake.
Rurouni reached toward the bedside table.
His fingertips brushed against his phone.
The screen lit up.
Rurouni looked at some words of the new chapter of his favourite fantasy novel.
"...Alright."
"Now I'm awake."
Then he closed it.
Just as he was about to put the phone back down...
Another notification appeared.
He glanced at it absentmindedly.
Then—
His eyes widened.
OFFICIAL NOTICE
Due to an unforeseen incident, the academy will remain closed today.
All classes and academic activities scheduled for today have been suspended until further notice.
— School Administration
Rurouni stared at the screen, stopped breathing for a moment.
"..."
"...W-What?"
His sleepy expression disappeared completely.
A strange feeling slowly settled in his chest.
His dream.
The letter.
The school being destroyed.
And now...
The academy was actually closed.
Rurouni swallowed, still find it hard to believe.
"...No way."
He looked at the notification again.
Then at the clock.
Then back at his phone.
A thought slowly formed in his mind.
Did my dream somehow predict this?
A cold shiver ran down his back.
"..."
Rurouni slowly pulled the blanket over himself.
"...I'm not gonna think about this."
"Absolutely not."
He closed his eyes for a micro second.
Then immediately opened them again.
But something like this had never happened before.
Just how massive was the incident...
...that even an attendance-strict school like this had no choice but to close its doors?
