Chapter 1:

The corrupt heir

Prison Princess

The gavel slammed down harshly as a woman with long black hair clad in a purple dress stepped before the podium.

"Princess Félicie Rhubarb, you stand accused of mass murder, using dark magic, kidnapping, and robbery. How do you plead?" the judge glared.

"I did nothing wrong?" the woman smirked.

The judge gritted his teeth as the courtroom descended into murmurs. "Order! To the accused, we've seen you commit the acts, seen you show no remorse for your actions, yet you're saying you plead NOT guilty!?"

"What exactly am I guilty of? I'm crown princess. You're all my subjects," Félicie scoffed.

Gasps and shouts rang out as the judge furiously slammed his gavel. "Then are you admitting to the crimes?"

"Crimes to you, research to me. I care not what you squabble."

"THE PUNISHMENT IS DEATH!"

A sinister smile spread across Félicie's face. "Can you? I'm the sole royal heir."

"The king is still alive and well."

"Too old to effectively reproduce. And with all my older siblings having perished in the war, offing me would ensure the kingdom's doom."

"Then we just force you to bare an heir, then off you."

"Oh, isn't that a crime now?"

SLAM!

"Fine, we the court find Princess Félicie Rhubarb GUILTY of all the accused crimes. She shall be sentenced to life in prison!" the judge roared as he slammed his gavel.

Everyone began hurling jeers at Félicie as guards dragged her away.

"Oh, the petty rubes," Félicie sighed aloud.

"GAG HER IMMEDIATELY!" the judge roared.

Félicie let out a chuckle as the guards stopped and tied a cloth tightly around her mouth. "My, they humor themselves upon my humiliation. Oh how I long for the day they'll come groveling to me," she thought.

...

5 years later...

Lightning flashed as chancellors and knights sat around a long rectangular table.

"The king has died. Now, none are left that may sit upon the throne," the head chancellor scowled.

"Can we not appoint someone else?" another chancellor scoffed.

"Only one of Lysithean royal blood can wield the artifact that can repel the hordes of Massey."

"Massey is no longer a threat!"

"Wrong," a female knight with a blonde bob scowled. "The king was keeping them at bay, but now, the barrier is gone and Massey has begun to march. Ghouls are leading the charge, so we have some time to fortify our defenses, but without the artifact, we can't hope to fend them off long-term."

"Why didn't you wipe them out then!?"

"Because only the king can lead us into battle with his artifact, but he was long past his prime."

"You wield it then. You're the head general!"

"If I were to grab hold, my strength would be sapped and I'd become a withered mummy in seconds."

"Just try it."

"YOU try it. We'll be even more screwed if we lose me."

"EXCUSE ME!? I'm vice-chancellor!"

"Sure, let him wield the blade and shielding necklace. If he can, he becomes king," the head chancellor scoffed.

A grin lit up on the vice-chancellor's face as he walked over to the empty throne. "King me."

A group of hooded men approached with a sword and necklace on a tray. The vice chancellor grabbed both, putting on the necklace and raising the sword above his head.

"I AM YOUR KING!"

Lightning flashed, and a second later, the blade glowed red.

"Yes! I feel the power! Ahahaha! I feel stronger then ever!" the vice-chancellor laughed as he swung his blade at a hooded man, slicing him in half.

The head chancellor began to frown. "My bet was wrong. It seems our new king-"

Suddenly, the vice chancellor began to shrivel up. "AHH! STOP! STOP!" he cried as he tried to let go of the blade to no avail.

The female knight quickly rushed over and sliced off the vice chancellor's sword hand, however, that didn't stop his blood from being sucked from the wound to the sword.

"NOOOOOOO! SAVE ME! SAVE ME!" the vice-chancellor cried as he began to wither up.

Within seconds, he was a shriveled up corpse.

"Oh, well that was pleasant. Always hated him, Ahem," the head chancellor chuckled.

"Now what do we do? The king had no heirs except..."

Everyone glared at the female knight.

"Penny... we don't speak of her."

"Sadly I come into contact with her quite frequently."

"We will not alter her sentence! She is a prisoner for life!"

"Then put her on the throne in chains, otherwise... We're all doomed."

Lightning flashed once more.

"You will take responsibility," the head chancellor glared.

"Yes, if I fail in this mission, I'll kill myself," Penny bowed.

"Rubbish. You fail, we'll have you tarred and feathered. You won't get the luxury of ending your life by your own hand!"

"I... I will accept that," Penny trembled.

...

In a prison cell, a beautiful woman with long silky black hair hummed as she sat with her wrists and ankles chained up. A cloth gag tied firmly around her mouth prevented her from talking, and was never to be removed out of fear the woman's words themselves would lead to her release.

This was Félicie Rhubarb, former crown princess, now a criminal with a life sentence for crimes against humanity. Obsessed with black magic, she often abused her authority in order to kidnap citizens of the kingdom in order to perform experiments on them, without any consent or compensation. Her reason for doing this? Pleasure. She just enjoyed watching people suffer.

Had she not been the sole heir to the throne, she would have been tarred and feathered instead of handed a life sentence. Yet since she was, she knew only she had the power to wield the sacred treasures needed to protect the kingdom.

As the clanking of armor echoed through the small hall, Félicie opened her eyes and let loose a muffled giggle. "Oh, it's the whore with a blonde bowl slapped upon her head," she thought as Penny came into view.

"Hello, filth. You're ordered to protect the kingdom," Penny glared.
