Chapter 37:

The Most Loyal Lover Legendary Mosquito

The Entire Truth Behind the Mysteries

6:26 P.M.

Rurouni finally woke up.

The last thing he remembered was Somya gently tapping his back.

Although...

"Your definition of gentle is seriously questionable, Onee-chan..."

He rubbed his back and let out a tired yawn.

Still half-asleep, Rurouni reached for his phone.

He stared at the screen for a moment before remembering something.

There was still one novel he hadn't read.

His eyes immediately brightened.

Yesssssss.

A perfect way to spend the evening.

Rurouni slowly got out of bed and quietly made his way to the kitchen.

He quietly prepared himself a cup of tea, making sure Somya didn't notice.

Although he accidentally made half cup extra due to his less accuracy while pouring milk.

After he went toward his room...

A female mosquito landed on the tea strainer that was in the tea pan.

She simply wanted to drink something sweet.

Then a big tragedy happened...

She accidentally fell from the tea strainer to the tea.

Her life was about to end.

Just then—

The something legendary arrived.

He grabbed her and take off towards the ground floor.

She was in serious condition.

Her wings were completely wet in sweet tea.

Ants would most likely murder her if she were left alone.

Then he decided to do something to save her life from them.

Lick.

He made extra sure that nothing sweet was left on her body.

After that, she tried to fly again.

But she couldn't, her body was still wet.

Then he grabbed her again and took off.

Within a minute, she could fly again.

So they decided to celebrate their survival that night by dancing all night.

Without a care in the world, they danced without thinking about where they were going.

...

Meanwhile, in Rurouni's room...

He was settled comfortably at his desk.

Desk, an object he used for everything except studying.

His tea sat beside him, along with his favorite chocolate biscuits.

The moment he opened the novel...

Everything else disappeared.

His attention became completely absorbed by the story.

Page after page...

His eyes moved steadily across the words.

The tea rested beside him.

The biscuits slowly disappeared one by one, murdered by tea.

Rurouni didn’t even notice.

He was completely immersed in the story.

Then...

Something flew through the small space of his door.

Then another.

Two mosquitoes entered his room.

They flew around each other playfully, circling through the air as though they were enjoying an evening game.

Rurouni noticed them.

Then he realised something.

He reached the cliffhanger line.

THIS WORLD IS FULL OF IDIOTS.

THOSE WHO DISAGREE...

...ARE THE BIGGEST IDIOTS.

Rurouni became strangely excited.

Maybe because he's a higher level idiot.

"WHOA! UNEXPECTED!"

He raised both hands instinctively.

One of his hands swung upward.

And—

SMACK!

Rurouni froze, got a feeling he did something he shouldn't.

One mosquito disappeared from the air.

The other...

Fell directly into his cup of tea.

...

Rurouni immediately placed the cut down.

"W-Wait. No."

Then ordered his eyes to find the mosquito.

"Please don't tell me..."

Too late. The female mosquito had already stopped moving.

Then Rurouni's expression became serious.

Rurouni stared at her in disbelief and guilt.

The legendary mosquito flew closer.

It hovered above the cup.

Then slowly turned toward Rurouni.

Its tiny body remained perfectly still.

But somehow...

Rurouni could feel something from him.

Killing intent.

"...B-Bro."

The legendary mosquito moved closer,no fear in his movements.

"Hey, listen. It's not my fault."

"You saw the whole thing, right?"

"I didn't mean to do it."

The mosquito buzzed... loudly.

Rurouni slowly leaned backward.

"...I think you misunderstood me."

The legendary mosquito charged with killing intent.

"WAIT!"

Rurouni immediately waved his hands.

"Bro, listen! She was already dead!"

"I mean—"

"Sorry about that."

The legendary mosquito continued buzzing around his face.

Rurouni quickly realized something.

Male mosquitoes couldn't sting.

Which meant...

This legendary mosquito had only one weapon.

Annoyance.

And apparently...

He was prepared to use it for the rest of the night.

7:43 P.M.

Rurouni lay in bed, his eyes were closed.

The room was dark.

Everything was silent, as it was supposed to be.

Almost peaceful that can make anyone fall asleep.

Then—

Bzzzzzzzz.

Rurouni opened one eye.

The legendary mosquito flew past his ear.

Rurouni slowly pulled his blanket over his head.

Thinking maybe it would leave after that.

Bzzzzzzzz.

It came even closer.

Rurouni opened his eyes again.

"Why are you still here?"

The legendary mosquito flew directly toward him.

Rurouni immediately sat up, trying to make him understand his situation.

"Listen, bro. I understand."

"You loved her. I truly respect that."

Even though I don't really know what love is.

"But I've got school tomorrow."

"Not only that, I have a feeling Monika ma'am will ask me questions in Science period."

The legendary mosquito continued buzzing.

Rurouni decided to give him a deal.

"Okay. How about this?"

"If you let me sleep peacefully..."

"I'll find you a new girlfriend tomorrow morning."

The legendary mosquito suddenly became even more aggressive.

"B-Bro! Why are you getting angrier?!"

Rurouni desperately tried to wave it away.

The legendary mosquito refused to leave.

It flew around his head.

Then his pillow and blanket.

Then back toward his ear.

Rurouni finally lowered his hands.

Decided to butter him up.

"Okay. Okay, I get it."

"You're the most loyal lover."

"So please stop now."

The legendary mosquito did not stop.

Like he had an unvavering determination...

To disturb him.

8:36 P.M.

Rurouni was still awake even after trying everything to make him leave.

Closing the window.

Covering his head.

Changing his position from left to right.

Turning the lights on.

Turning them off.

Even negotiating and bribing.

Nothing worked.

The legendary mosquito remained completely committed to its mission.

Rurouni never would've thought he would be in a situation like this.

"...This is getting even more ridiculous."

He was starting to feel guilty.

Since he really hadn't intended to kill the female mosquito.

And somehow...

This tiny legendary mosquito was risking everything just to avenge her.

"You're seriously dedicated..."

The legendary mosquito buzzed beside his ear.

"Yeah. I understand... You loved her."

But I still don't know what love is.

9:57 P.M.

Rurouni finally gave up.

He looked completely exhausted.

Sitting on the edge of his bed, his eyes looked like he did his science homework all night.

"I can't do this anymore."

Rurouni went outside his room, making sure that loyal lover doesn't come with him.

His parents' room was unavailable.

The door was closed, and the room was dark from inside.

The living room wasn't an option either.

At night, it was practically impossible to sleep there.

No soundproof.

Mosquitoes.

Vehicles.

People talking outside.

Random neighborhood noise.

Sometimes even parties.

There was only one option left.

The room dangerous enough that even mosquitoes don't dare come near it.

Rurouni stared the door of the place where his life is always at a potential risk.

SOMYA'S ROOM
Knock before entering.

"...I give up."

He walked over and knocked.

Knock. Knock.

"Come in."

Rurouni opened the door carefully.

Somya was sitting at her study desk, still working.

She looked toward him.

"What happened?"

Rurouni knew his sister too well.

The moment he lied...

She would know.

And considering how little sleep he'd gotten and how he was knocked out by her before…

He didn't have enough energy to deal with the consequences.

So he told her the entire night's suffering.

Or you can say...

The one-sided love story of the legendary mosquito.

Somya listened silently.

When he finished...

She gave a tiny nod, pretending to think

"Hmmm, I see."

Then...

He lowered himself and grabbed her legs.

"Please."

"Let me sleep on the floor, Onee-chan."

"I have school tomorrow."

"I won't survive seven periods like this."

Somya looked down at him, enjoying her victory.

"Awwwwww. Look at you."

"Trying to act like a good little brother."

Rurouni remained silent.

I'm practically begging for my life right now.

Just which good little brother touches the legs of his siblings in this position?

Somya placed a hand dramatically in front of her eyes.

"You know, I truly miss the old you."

"The one who was always ready to play."

"The one who always said, 'Onee-chan is the best.'"

"And the one who used to hug me whenever Mom or Dad scolded you."

Rurouni stared at her, still don't believe her single word.

Just how many serials did she watch to act this perfectly?

He slowly raised his head, trying to understand her behaviour and words.

"So..."

"Does that mean I can sleep on the floor?"

Somya placed a hand on his shoulder.

Then pressed down slightly.

"Yes. You absolutely can."

"If you want to die, that is."

Rurouni's face immediately went pale.

"W-What are you talking about?!"

"Y-You just agreed!"

Somya smiled gently.

Then, without warning—

She grabbed Rurouni with one hand.

And tossed him onto her bed.

THUD.

Rurouni landed safely on the mattress.

"Do you honestly think I would ever let my little brother sleep on the floor?"

"No way in hell! Got it?"

Rurouni slowly sat up, trying to calm down.

"Yes, ma'am"

Then asked an obvious question.

"But... Where will you sleep?"

Somya laughed while roasting him.

"Do you honestly think everyone is as poor as you?"

"I have more than enough money."

"So I can choose whatever option I want, okay?"

Rurouni got curious this time.

Flexing her money again.

Just how much money does she earn, anyway?

He let out a yawn, clearly showing he's sleepy.

Whatever...

I better get some sleep.

I have to survive tomorrow's seven periods.

Somya walked over and gently placed a hand on his head.

"One last thing. Come immediately under circumstances like these."

"Got it?"

Rurouni gave a little nodded.

Then closed his sleepy eyes.

Within moments... He fell asleep.

A peaceful expression returned to his face.

Somya quietly returned to her study desk.

The room became silent again.

Only the soft sounds of her work filled the air.

For the first time all night...

Rurouni was finally sleeping peacefully.

Or at least... He thought he was.

Because somewhere nearby...

The legendary mosquito was still there, searching him with killing intent.

And apparently...

It had no intention of giving up.

The tiny creature continued buzzing around, finding Rurouni.

Again and again.

It had already lost the one it loved.

It had already spent almost the entire night chasing revenge.

And now...

It was determined to disturb Rurouni for as long as possible.

After all...

If revenge had a definition...

This legendary mosquito had already mastered it.
