Chapter 45:

The Great Sacrifice

The Entire Truth Behind the Mysteries

Rurouni finally arrived home.

He stepped inside and immediately yawned.

"...I'm tired."

Then he noticed his mother cleaning the refrigerator.

Rurouni walked toward her and placed his hands behind his neck.

"Mom."

She looked at him, surprised since he was never the one to start the conversation

"Yeah?"

"Give me the motorcycle keys."

His mother stopped cleaning, placed the cloth on the floor.

Failed to understand his intentions.

"...Why?"

"You don't usually use the motorcycle."

She walked closer, placed a hand on his forehead.

Showing how much she cares for him.

She checked his temperature, then fall back a little.

"No fever."

She looked at him suspiciously.

"Did something happen?"

Rurouni sighed, find her actions way too dramatic.

"Yeah."

"Somya told me to pick her up."

His mother immediately smiled, pinched his cheeks.

"Awww!"

"My little boy is going to pick up his Onee-chan!"

Rurouni saved himself by falling back.

"Yeah, yeah."

He wasn't interested in discussing it from the beginning.

Then his mother walked toward her room.

A few moments later...

She returned with the motorcycle keys.

She handed them to him, noticed his brand new clothes.

"You should change your clothes first."

Rurouni stopped, got a little sad as he find it unnecessary and exhausting

"...Why?"

"It's your first time going to her company."

She looked at him seriously, giving him pressure.

"You should look presentable."

Rurouni sighed. He was the youngest, weakest, and poorest member of his family.

So there was no way he could go against any of his family members.

Let alone someone who could get away with anything just by saying,

'I raised you for nine months.'

Somya had already said the exact same thing.

Twice.

And now...

His mother was repeating it too.

I'm just going to pick up my sister.

Why is everyone exaggerating this so much?

Still...

Arguing would take more effort.

And as if right now...

He's copying Katon Ashford's mindset.

"Alright."

"If you say so, Mom."

Rurouni simply walked toward his room.

Then opened his legendary wardrobe with a spider net from inside.

Huh? What the...

Where is it's spider?

Then he tilted his head and saved himself from changing the subjects.

There weren't many choices.

Approximately three pairs of clothes.

After thinking about it for a very long time—three seconds, to be exact.

He selected a black T-shirt and blue lower.

Then began his world class inspection.

First test — Are they torn anywhere?

He checked carefully while scratching his neck.

Passed successfully.

Final test — Are they clean?

Rurouni find the lower dirty a little at the lower side.

So he decided to bribe himself with two chocolate biscuits.

He accepted his own offer without hesitation...

And closed his eyes.

Passed pathetically.

Rurouni nodded proudly and shamelessly.

"Perfect."

He changed clothes instantly.

Then stood in front of the mirror.

He looked at himself, then smiled slightly with satisfaction.

"What more can I even do?"

"I've already reached my limit."

Rurouni grabbed the motorcycle keys.

Then walked outside.

The next moment  after he opened the garage door.

He found himself on the motorcycle.

A little excited since it's been a very long time—six days, to be exact.

Started the motorcycle.

One kick with less force.

Nothing, as expected.

Second kick with medium force.

Still nothing, just as planned.

Third kick, full force with extra drama.

VROOOOM!

The engine finally came alive, ready to scare kids.

Rurouni smiled, relieved that the motorcycle had actually started.

Then drove toward the location Somya had sent him.

...

Meanwhile...

High above the ground...

Someone had been waiting.

For fifteen minutes.

Shadow Shirugae had been sitting inside a tree.

The moment he saw Rurouni leave...

His eyes widened, he stood up immediately.

A wave of excitement passed through his entire body.

"WHOOOHOOO!"

"Let's go!"

Then the leaf of that neem tree made some itching on his back.

He scratched out of pure instinct.

FWOOOSH!

A saffron-colored tail suddenly appeared behind him.

Shadow saw it, then sighed like it's not his first time today.

Looks like I have to be more careful about this naughty tail of mine.

Then he clapped both his hands slowly.

The tail disappeared again like it was never appeared.

Then he simply jumped down from the tree with excitement.

His long awaited adventure had finally begun.

But then...

Rurouni started getting farther away.

And farther.

Shadow's smile started disappearing.

Panic took it's place instead.

"Nooo!"

"There's no way I'm missing this exciting adventure!"

He immediately sprinted after him.

Rurouni continued driving, no idea what's going on behind him.

He had maintained a speed of around 48 kilometers per hour, for economic reasons of course.

Approximately half an hour later...

He finally reached the estimated location.

 So he stopped the motorcycle.

...

Meanwhile...

Shadow Shirugae had already lost his way halfway there.

He opened his notebook in style from his ninja dress.

Then added another entry.

Crime committed by Rurouni Rakhora:- Over-speeding.

Shadow closed the notebook.

"Just you wait..."

"Rurouni..."

"You pathetic, idiotic fool."

"The one who betrayed us for a mere girl and money."

"I'll humiliate your pathetic moments until the very end."

He was about to continue his dramatic performance.

Then...

Something caught his attention.

A green parrot.

The one who had escaped from him five days ago.

Shadow's eyes immediately lit up.

"#cutiepie1187..."

He opened his notebook and searched for that page.

Hunting Quest — Green Parrot

Target: #cutiepie1187
Reward: 15 sets of 250 pats
Deadline: 3 months

Shadow made a big tick mark beside the quest.

Because he's confident enough about his absolutely certain victory.

The parrot looked toward the buzzing leaves of a banyan tree.

Then she heard a voice.

"I got you."

The next moment...

She found herself in the hands of Shadow Shirugae.

He gave her a bone chilling cold smile.

"Awwww, look at you."

"Looks like you became even cuter."

"So how about becoming my first pet?"

The parrot nodded out of fear and terror.

Haha... she looks so scared that she reminds me of that Ren who got scared by Sara during recess.

Then—

The Great Whatever Single, Kara Shirugae, realized something extremely important.

Hey, wait a minute...

Nerdy Buddy was absent that day.

So he doesn't even know about this awesome story.

Kara sighed and looked up at the sky.

But oh well.

Don't worry, Nerdy buddy.

I'm gonna tell you in extra details about that incident.

Kara made a genuine promise to tell him.

That Rurouni Rakhora knew what happened even before it happened.

However...

Kara Shirugae didn't know...

That Rurouni Rakhora had known what was going to happen even before it happened.

But what happened in reality...

Was a completely different matter.

Meanwhile...

The scared-to-death parrot was completely unaware that what was about to happen...

...was the exact opposite of what she was thinking right now.

And that's how Rurouni Rakhora's life was saved...

Through the great sacrifice of this green-chili S-Rank Ruthless Monster.
