Tanimaki Gets Snatched by a Steller’s Sea Eagle (Part 1)

“Mom... I’m hungry...”

The chick cried out in a voice so faint it was barely audible.

“Just wait, my boy... I promise I’ll find you something to eat.”

The mother Steller’s sea eagle vowed that she would find food for her chick, no matter what it took.

Even if it meant giving up her own life.

With that resolve in her heart, she spread her wings and took flight.

Tanimaki and his companions had left Lapis Labuli Infonia behind and were walking along a road beside the river.

“I wanted to see Bianca one last time, meow...”

Tanimaki murmured sadly.

“Well, you can’t really complain. You were drunk and asleep the whole time.”

Debiru said with a wry smile.

“Tanimaki, you’ve gotten a little heavier lately.”

Mayutan muttered under his breath. In fact, he had carried Tanimaki on his back for part of the journey.

“More importantly, I’ve been thinking this for a while... Tanimaki, don’t you kind of stink?”

Debiru asked, wrinkling his nose.

“I haven’t taken a bath since I was reincarnated here, meow.”

As Tanimaki said this, he thought back to his life before coming to the Republic of Meows. Even when he had been human, he had never been particularly fond of taking baths.

“You’re going to get sick. I’ll wash you in the river,” said Mayutan.

“No, thanks, meow! I’m not going to die just because I don’t take baths, meow!”

Tanimaki shouted as he twisted his entire body in desperate resistance.

But Mayutan didn’t hesitate. He effortlessly scooped Tanimaki up and carried him straight toward the river.

“Meooow! Noooo, meow!”

Tanimaki thrashed around with all his might. But he simply wasn’t strong enough, leaving him completely helpless in Mayutan’s arms.
