A World in a Suitcase

After returning home, Edmund immediately summoned Aurea.

Aurea was extremely happy. While they were at school, Edmund had not wanted to draw too much attention, so he only let her out to play for a while each night.

Now that they were home, she could finally stay outside all day.

Edmund then cast a Muggle-Repelling Charm to prevent outsiders from accidentally discovering Aurea.

He did not want to appear on the front page of the London papers the next morning.

Looking at the house, which had not been properly cleaned in nearly a year, Edmund used a Cleaning Charm and finished the job at once.

He had to admit that wizards did have some reason to look down on Muggles in certain matters.

If ordinary people cleaned a house this large by hand, it would probably take five or six people several hours.

A wizard only needed a few minor spells.

While Dumbledore's reply had not yet arrived, Edmund decided to spend the next few days making a large expanded suitcase, something like Newt Scamander's.

When he watched the films in his previous life, Edmund had greatly envied Newt's suitcase. It was practically like carrying a Forbidden Forest around with him.

Of course, Edmund's current level could not reach that extent.

He suspected Newt's suitcase had not been made by Newt himself either. It was probably something like an heirloom of the Scamander family.

Some pure-blood families might appear poor and down on their luck, but their foundations could not be underestimated.

The Weasley family's clock, for example, could show each family member's current location and condition.

In the original story, after Mr. Weasley was attacked and taken to St. Mungo's, that clock pointed toward hospital.

Even Edmund still did not fully understand how it worked.

His current combat power was not weak, but much of it came from the System's cards.

If the current Edmund fought Dumbledore without using Avalon, Edmund's spell power would be strong, but Dumbledore's masterful use of basic magic alone could probably toy with him until he lost.

For that reason, Edmund never underestimated any enemy.

You never knew when someone might suddenly use an obscure spell that struck a vital weakness and cost you your life.

Studying more magic and constantly improving himself were what he needed to do now.

Edmund went to an unused guest room and moved everything out.

He decided to turn it into a temporary laboratory for studying alchemy and brewing potions.

Early the next morning, Edmund took out an empty suitcase and prepared to work.

The first step was to cast the Undetectable Extension Charm on the suitcase.

For that, Edmund drank a Draught of Inspiration and an Arcane Surge Potion. He wanted his Undetectable Extension Charm to reach the greatest effect possible.

As Edmund cast the spell, the space inside the suitcase gradually expanded.

He pushed himself to the limit and finally enlarged the interior until it was about the size of two school playing fields.

That was already his current maximum.

If he expanded it any further, the space might become unstable and fail within a few months.

After wiping the sweat from his forehead, Edmund prepared to begin the second step.

Water source and greenery.

First, he went to Diagon Alley and bought a number of fast-growing plants, then planted them inside the suitcase.

Then came the water source.

Edmund used a large amount of Transfiguration to form a pit five meters deep and roughly one thousand square meters in area.

Then he connected a water pipe and filled it.

This was called combining magic with plumbing.

Time inside the suitcase changed together with the outside world. When it was daytime outside, it was daytime inside. When it was night outside, it was night inside.

So Edmund did not need to worry about a light source.

After considerable effort, this little world was basically complete.

By second year, the environment inside should be able to meet Celestia's needs. Edmund would then be able to bring her with him at any time.

Finally, Edmund added a magical lock to the space. Without his magic to activate it, opening the suitcase would reveal only an ordinary interior.

He also purchased furniture and daily necessities and placed them inside the little villa he had created in the suitcase.

When Hermione came to visit Edmund's home and saw the suitcase, she was stunned by his magic and imagination.

Excitedly, she entered the suitcase and helped Edmund arrange the furniture, turning the place into a warm little home.

After the excitement passed, however, Hermione became somewhat worried.

Using the Undetectable Extension Charm casually was illegal, and she was afraid Edmund would attract the Ministry's attention.

Edmund did not care much.

He had already made several extension-charmed pouches. Otherwise, where would he put all those alchemical materials and potions?

As long as he did not foolishly use such items in front of Ministry officials, no one should come looking for trouble.
