Chapter 9:

Not Bound By Destiny

Elements Of The Five Spirits Volume 2

As Kai finally recovered, he waited inside a hidden city to train and await the arrival of the dragon egg.

Meanwhile, deep within the capital, Asami and the Masked King stood before a grand summit hall. A gathering of royals, realm leaders, and high elders had convened, and Asami's expression was laced with fury.

"Why are those foolish leaders even trying to come here?" she grumbled under her breath.
The Masked King stood beside her, leaning over to rest a hand on her shoulder with a relaxed smirk. "Maybe because a girl with family issues went around beating up some important people?"
Asami pouted, her eyebrow twitching in annoyance.

The Masked King backed up, raising his hands in mock surrender. "Whoa, easy! No need to hurt me. Tough crowd today, but it’s nothing I can't handle. So don't worry your troubled head, okay?"

He leaned in close, but Asami just smiled deviously, patting his head. "It's cute that you think you can be scary."

The Masked King lightly slapped his own forehead, chuckling as he turned to leave. He glanced back over his shoulder. "Behave, will you? I’ll be back soon—I have to prepare for our guests."

Asami raised an eyebrow. "Behave my ass," she mumbled.
She wandered through the high halls of the palace, softly humming to herself. Pausing before a grand portrait of the Masked King without his mask, she gently placed her hand against the canvas. The painting depicted a light-skinned human with a faint goatee, hazel eyes, and a

prominent facial scar.

Asami chuckled softly to herself. "Wow, handsome man he was... Sad that he hides his face."
Continuing down the corridor, Asami suddenly stopped. Her sharp senses picked up an unnaturally fast heartbeat approaching from behind. She kept walking as a royal guard jogged up to catch her."Excuse me, Lady—"

Before he could finish, Asami whirled around, seizing the guard by his throat and lifting him off his feet. "Why are you trying to sneak up on me?"
The guard gasped, raising his hands in surrender. "S-Sorry! But you need to come with us... General!"

Asami released her grip, letting him drop to the floor. She stepped toward a high window overlooking the courtyard, where an incredible assemblage of power had arrived: King Yamato, Queen Susan, King Hanzo, and various other monarchs, alongside the high elders of the Kazan Clan and the House of Feathers—including Jin, Kira, and Mei.

A dark smirk spread across Asami's face. She turned on her heel, her tone shifting to absolute command. "I see. Let the others know: nobody moves without my word."

Her manic laughter echoed down the hallway as she vanished into the shadows.
Inside the grand chamber, the Masked King sat at the head of a massive oval table, his fingers laced together as the various leaders took their seats.

He broke the silence first. "So... to what do I owe this marvelous pleasure?"
King Hanzo stood up, his voice firm. "First things first: your commander broke the international treaty. She trespassed beyond your borders and stole prized assets."

The Masked King leaned back, sighing. "If we have an alliance, why does it matter? Unless... you don't trust my kingdom?"
King Yamato shook his head coldly. "No, we don't. She attacked Jin and Kira after being warned repeatedly to leave."

"They attacked my commander first," the Masked King countered smoothly. "It’s not my fault those two weren't strong enough to beat a single warrior."

Elder Kazan stood up, her chair scraping harshly against the floor. "That girl is a devil!"
Silence fell over the room as Elder Kazan’s voice hardened. "That girl was never supposed to be alive."

Anorak, the senior Elder of the House of Feathers, nodded in agreement. "The Elder is right. Isn't that so... Asami Kazan?"A collective gasp swept through the chamber. Whispers broke out among the nobility. "The same family name as the boy who rescued our people..." Queen Susan whispered to King Yamato, who nodded solemnly.

King Hanzo glanced down at Mei, who nodded and stepped out of the room quietly. Just then, Asami sauntered out from the shadows of the doorway, her eyes gleaming with contempt.
"Yes, of course... my dearest, great-great old hag," Asami sneered, looking directly at Anorak.
Anorak’s eyes narrowed into slits. "Your parents would be thoroughly disappointed in you."
"God, I hope it kills them," Asami smirked.

Anorak turned his head toward the Masked King. "We should have her arrested immediately."
The atmosphere in the room instantly plummeted as the Masked King’s demeanor shifted. An oppressive, ominous aura filled the air as he leaned forward, his voice dropping an octave.
"No, we shouldn't. You claim she is a threat, yet you offer no actual solution as to why we should eliminate her. Everything was peaceful until you all walked into my hall disrespecting my commander. I strongly suggest we change the subject. Now."

Anorak narrowed his eyes, standing tall. "Everyone who is not of my family or the Kazan Clan... leave us." The kings and queens exchanged uncertain glances before filing out the heavy double doors. Asami looked back at the Masked King, who gave her a subtle, reassuring nod. She stepped outside, letting the doors seal shut behind her.

Elder Kazan stepped closer to the table, glaring at the Masked King. "You have no idea what danger you've brought under your roof! That woman is evil—a curse that was never meant to walk the human realm!" Anorak nodded sternly in agreement. Out in the grand hallway, a strange, sickening shift in atmospheric pressure washed over Asami. Deep within the fabric of reality, the absolute hold Lord Enma once held over her fate suddenly snapped.

Panicked, Asami sprinted back toward the chamber and threw the doors open—only to freeze in horror. The Masked King lay slumped over the central table, motionless.
"GUARDS!" Asami screamed, her voice echoing through the stone corridors.

With no heir and the king gone, Asami strode out onto the grand high balcony overlooking the capital city. She channeled her chi, projecting her voice across the entire metropolis.
"They have struck down our people! They have slain your king—my lover!" Asami roared, her voice trembling with dark fury. "This act of treason means WAR! No more treaties! Who gave these self-righteous leaders the right to take what is ours?! We will rise, and we will bring the most unholy war this realm has ever seen!"
The thousands of citizens and soldiers in the courtyard below erupted into thunderous, bloodthirsty cheers, chanting her name.

Asami turned back into the palace, her expression icy as she met her elite guards.
"My Lord, what are your orders?" a guard asked, kneeling.
"I have unfinished business," Asami said coldly. "I'm going to destroy the balance of power so we have fewer targets on our backs."

She reached into her vest, pulled out a high-density energy crystal, and consumed it whole, forcing raw, volatile power to fuse directly into her circulatory system. Raising her hand, she tore open a swirling fire portal leading directly to the ancient Kazan Clan compound.
She stepped through the rift, landing right at the gates of the Kazan estate. Two elite guards rushed forward to intercept her. "Halt! You shall not pass—" Before they could finish, Asami seized both by their throats, channeling extreme thermal energy that instantly reduced them to ash.
She kicked open the main doors of the compound. Dozens of Kazan family members were gathered in the central courtyard, whispering nervously among themselves.

Elder Kazan emerged from the inner sanctum, her brow furrowed. "Why are you all gathered here? Who summoned you?" A young Kazan warrior looked confused. "You didn't summon us, Elder?"
Elder Kazan's eyes widened in sudden, horrifying realization just as the main reinforced gates blew inward. Asami stepped through the smoke, a twisted smile on her face.
"So, Elder... what possessed you to do this?" Asami asked softly.

Elder Kazan scoffed, her fear morphing into rage. "You and your filthy brother are the reason our clans were forced into an agreement! We did what was necessary! We poisoned you and Kai years ago to eliminate you both and continue the war! But your foolish mother saved Kai and left you for dead. Good riddance, I say! We could keep Kai suppressed, but you—you little demon—you ruined everything!" Asami’s smile widened, her eyes gleaming with absolute malice. "Is that so? In that case, I'll kill my brother too and become the sole heir."
"Over my dead body, you crazy bitch!" Elder Kazan screamed.

She snapped her fingers, and the central courtyard floor collapsed, forming a massive arena pit. Dozens of master Kazan warriors slid down the steep stone slopes, unleashing combined elemental strikes at Asami. Asami met them head-on. She dodged a barrage of heavy strikes, kicking one master through a stone pillar and slamming another into the ground with a lightning-infused palm.

Suddenly, a high-tier elder concentrated gravity around Asami’s left arm, collapsing the space into a localized mini-black hole that severed her arm entirely! Blood sprayed across the arena, but Asami didn't hesitate. She flung her own burning blood into the faces of the advancing attackers, searing through their armor. In a split second, her flesh regenerated rapidly. Slamming her hand into the stone floor, she yelled, "Wood Release: Rising Spire!"
A massive wooden tower erupted beneath her, launching her fifty feet into the air.

Three Kazan elders boosted each other skyward, combining their chi for a localized kinetic burst that blasted Asami through the air, testing her regeneration to its absolute limit. They caught her mid-flight, unleashing a continuous stream of rapid punches that shattered her bones faster than they could heal. "You aren't the helpless girl from years ago!" an elder yelled, striking her across the face. "You're nothing but a traitor!"
Adapt... adapt... adapt... Asami repeated in her mind, forcing her consciousness to stabilize through the pain.

As she plummeted back toward the ground, a massive human-formed spiritual dragon lunged at her with open jaws. Asami caught the upper and lower jaws of the construct with her bare hands, holding it open through pure physical strength. "How are you this huge?!" Asami growled. "A human using high-tier yōkai magic is impossible!" Elder Kazan shouted down from the rim of the pit. "You stupid brat! This is the future! Why be restricted to a single element and chi when you can master them all?!"

As the massive construct snapped its jaws shut around her, Asami’s mind focused with absolute, terrifying clarity. She remembered how the Masked King had accepted her—not because she was perfect, but because she embraced her chaotic nature.
My power is absolute, she thought.

A blinding, destructive shockwave tore out from within the dragon construct, disintegrating the giant form from the inside out. Asami burst through the creature's chest, moving at blinding, imperceptible speed.

She wove through the army of elders, delivering bone-shattering strikes. When a kinetic master attempted to blast her from afar, Asami dodged, compressed a kinetic disk in her palm, and launched a localized shockwave that tore through his defenses, snatching his head clear off before he could react.

She landed in the center of the bloody courtyard as dark flame-decay spread outward. She broke into a manic, unhinged laugh, her hair floating upward like wild, untamed fire as she decimated every warrior who stepped forward.

Suddenly, time seemed to freeze around her. A mysterious, ethereal glowing tattoo manifested in the air before her, expanding into a void of pure white light.
A gentle, mysterious voice echoed through the space. "Hello, Asami."
Asami looked around the white void, her eyes narrowing. "Where am I? Who are you?"
"It does not matter who I am," the voice replied softly. "I am granting you an ancient power known as 'Wish'. You shall gain whatever you desire."

Asami’s dark smile returned, wider than ever. "Hell yeah!"

Returning instantly to the real world, Asami yelled her first command: "WISH: Increase everything about my physical state!"
Her speed and strength multiplied tenfold. She rushed through the Kazan ranks, tearing through their defenses like paper.

(Every wish requires the life of a hated enemy to manifest...)

Asami punched straight through an elder's chest, yelling her next command: "WISH: Make my lightning absolute!"
Brilliant, purple-white lightning erupted from her body, frying the nervous systems of dozens of elite guards in an instant.

"WISH: Make me stronger!" she roared, ripping through the vanguard with absolute ease.

"WISH: GRANT ME ULTIMATE AUTHORITY!"
Her chaotic laughter echoed across the blood-soaked compound as the sun went down. She slaughtered warrior after warrior until the sky itself seemed to rain red.
Suddenly, the ethereal entity's voice echoed in her mind once more. "Your battle is complete. The power of Wish shall now fade..."
"Like hell it will!" Asami spat.

Refusing to yield, Asami's hands erupted with brilliant blue soul-flames. Reaching directly into the spatial dimension of the white void, she grabbed the ethereal entity by the throat!

The entity gasped in complete shock. "How... how can you touch me?! We are in the fifth dimension!" Asami glared at the entity with raw, terrifying hatred. "By whose authority do you tell ME what I can and cannot have?!"

With a flex of her blue flames, Asami completely incinerated the fifth-dimensional entity, seizing the source of the power for herself.

"FINAL WISH: KEEP EVERYTHING PERMANENTLY!"

The void shattered, returning Asami to the bloody courtyard of the Kazan estate. Rain washed over the scorched earth as her injuries healed completely.

Only a fraction of the once-mighty Kazan Clan remained standing—less than a thousand terrified survivors, trembling in the presence of her overwhelming aura.
Asami walked slowly toward the trembling Elder Kazan, her boots splashing through the crimson pools on the stone floor.

"Now... I originally came here wanting a simple agreement," Asami said softly, her voice echoing unnaturally across the sky. "But now... I am FORCING you."

She looked down at the trembling elder, her eyes glowing with absolute dominance. "Tell me: will you submit and work under me... or shall I slaughter every last one of you right now?"
With no strength left to resist, Elder Kazan dropped to her knees, bowing her head to the stone floor in utter terror. "Y-Yes... my lady..."
Asami thrown her head back, her dark, terrifying laughter echoing through the storm-swept sky.
